Sura al-Baqara 2:4

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ وَبِٱلْأَخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ

wa-lladhīna yuʾminūna bimā unzila ilayka wa-mā unzila min qablika wa-bil-akhirati hum yūqinūna

And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

Sura al-Baqara 2:22

ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ فِرَٰشًا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَخْرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ رِزْقًا لَّكُمْ فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ لِلَّـهِ أَندَادًا وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

alladhī jaʿala lakumu l-arḍa firāshan wa-l-samāʾa bināʾan wa-anzala mina l-samāʾi māʾan fa-akhraja bihi mina l-thamarāti rizqan la-kum fa-lā tajʿalū lillāhi andādan wa-antum taʿlamūna

Who has made the earth your couch, and the heavens your canopy; and sent down rain from the heavens; and brought forth therewith Fruits for your sustenance; then set not up rivals unto Allah when ye know (the truth).

Sura al-Baqara 2:90

بِئْسَمَا ٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَنفُسَهُمْ أَن يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ بَغْيًا أَن يُنَزِّلَ ٱللَّـهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ فَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ عَلَىٰ غَضَبٍ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

biʾsamā ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfurū bimā anzala allāhu baghyan an yunazzila allāhu min faḍlihi ʿalā man yashāʾu min ʿibādihi fa-bāʾū bighaḍabin ʿalā ghaḍabin wa-lil-kāfirīna ʿadhābun muhīnun

Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith.

Sura al-Baqara 2:91

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ قَالُوا۟ نُؤْمِنُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَيَكْفُرُونَ بِمَا وَرَآءَهُۥ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ قُلْ فَلِمَ تَقْتُلُونَ أَنۢبِيَآءَ ٱللَّـهِ مِن قَبْلُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

wa-idhā qīla lahum āminū bimā anzala allāhu qālū nuʾminu bimā unzila ʿalaynā wa-yakfurūna bi-mā wa-rāʾahu wa-huwa l-ḥaqqu muṣaddiqan li-mā maʿahum qul falima taqtulūna anbiyāʾa allāhi min qablu in kuntum muʾminīna

When it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah Hath sent down, "they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us:" yet they reject all besides, even if it be Truth confirming what is with them. Say: "Why then have ye slain the prophets of Allah in times gone by, if ye did indeed believe?"

Sura al-Baqara 2:97

قُلْ مَن كَانَ عَدُوًّا لِّجِبْرِيلَ فَإِنَّهُۥ نَزَّلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَهُدًى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

qul man kāna ʿadūwan li-jibrīla fa-innahu nazzalahu ʿalā qalbika bi-idhni allāhi muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi wa-hudan wa-bushrā lil-muʾminīna

Say: Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel-for he brings down the (revelation) to thy heart by Allah's will, a confirmation of what went before, and guidance and glad tidings for those who believe,-

Sura al-Baqara 2:102

وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَا تَتْلُوا۟ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ عَلَىٰ مُلْكِ سُلَيْمَٰنَ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمَٰنُ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُعَلِّمُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ ٱلسِّحْرَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَى ٱلْمَلَكَيْنِ بِبَابِلَ هَٰرُوتَ وَمَٰرُوتَ وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَآ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلَا تَكْفُرْ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِۦ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِۦ وَمَا هُم بِضَآرِّينَ بِهِۦ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا۟ لَمَنِ ٱشْتَرَىٰهُ مَا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَٰقٍ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَنفُسَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-ittabaʿū mā tatlū l-shayāṭīnu ʿalā mulki sulaymāna wa-mā kafara sulaymānu wa-lākinna l-shayāṭīna kafarū yuʿallimūna l-nāsa l-siḥra wa-mā unzila ʿalā l-malakayni bi-bābila hārūta wa-mārūta wa-mā yuʿallimāni min aḥadin ḥattā yaqūlā innamā naḥnu fitnatun fa-lā takfur fa-yataʿallamūna minhumā mā yufarriqūna bihi bayna l-mari wa-zawjihi wa-mā hum bi-ḍārrīna bihi min aḥadin illā bi-idhni allāhi wa-yataʿallamūna mā yaḍurruhum wa-lā yanfaʿuhum wa-la-qad ʿalimū lamani ishtarāhu mā lahu fī l-akhirati min khalāqin wa-la-biʾsa mā sharaw bihi anfusahum law kānū yaʿlamūna

They followed what the evil ones gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon: the blasphemers Were, not Solomon, but the evil ones, teaching men Magic, and such things as came down at babylon to the angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught anyone (Such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls, if they but knew!

Sura al-Baqara 2:105

مَّا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَلَا ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

mā yawaddu lladhīna kafarū min ahli l-kitābi wa-lā l-mushrikīna an yunazzala ʿalaykum min khayrin min rabbikum wallāhu yakhtaṣṣu bi-raḥmatihi man yashāʾu wallāhu dhū l-faḍli l-ʿaẓīmi

It is never the wish of those without Faith among the People of the Book, nor of the Pagans, that anything good should come down to you from your Lord. But Allah will choose for His special Mercy whom He will - for Allah is Lord of grace abounding.

Sura al-Baqara 2:136

قُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ

qūlū āmannā billāhi wa-mā unzila ilaynā wa-mā unzila ila ibrāhīma wa-ismāʿīla wa-isḥāqa wa-yaʿqūba wa-l-asbāṭi wa-mā ūtiya mūsā wa-ʿīsa wa-mā ūtiya l-nabiyyūna min rabbihim lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin minhum wa-naḥnu lahu muslimūna

Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)."

Sura al-Baqara 2:164

إِنَّ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱخْتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلَّتِى تَجْرِى فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ بِمَا يَنفَعُ ٱلنَّاسَ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مِن مَّآءٍ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةٍ وَتَصْرِيفِ ٱلرِّيَٰحِ وَٱلسَّحَابِ ٱلْمُسَخَّرِ بَيْنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

inna fī khalqi l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-ikhtilāfi l-layli wa-l-nahāri wa-l-fulki allatī tajrī fī l-baḥri bi-mā yanfaʿu l-nāsa wa-mā anzala allāhu mina l-samāʾi min māʾin fa-aḥyā bihi l-arḍa baʿda mawtihā wa-baththa fīhā min kulli dābbatin wa-taṣrīfi l-riyāḥi wa-l-saḥābi l-mushkhkhari bayna l-samāʾi wa-l-arḍi la-āyātin li-qawmin yaʿqilūna

Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.

Sura al-Baqara 2:170

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ قَالُوا۟ بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَآ أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ

wa-idhā qīla lahumu ittabiʿū mā anzala allāhu qālū bal nattabiʿu mā alfaynā ʿalayhi ābāʾanā awalaw kāna ābāʾuhum lā yaʿqilūna shayʾan wa-lā yahtadūna

When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah hath revealed:" They say: "Nay! we shall follow the ways of our fathers." What! even though their fathers Were void of wisdom and guidance?

Sura al-Baqara 2:174

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَيَشْتَرُونَ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِى بُطُونِهِمْ إِلَّا ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

inna lladhīna yaktumūna mā anzala allāhu mina l-kitābi wa-yashtarūna bihi thamanan qalīlan ulāʾika mā yaʾkulūna fī buṭūnihim illā l-nāra wa-lā yukallimuhumu allāhu yawma l-qiyāmati wa-lā yuzakkīhim wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun

Those who conceal Allah's revelations in the Book, and purchase for them a miserable profit,- they swallow into themselves naught but Fire; Allah will not address them on the Day of Resurrection. Nor purify them: Grievous will be their penalty.

Sura al-Baqara 2:176

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ نَزَّلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَفِى شِقَاقٍۭ بَعِيدٍ

dhālika bi-anna allāha nazzala l-kitāba bil-ḥaqqi wa-inna lladhīna akhtalafū fī l-kitābi la-fī shiqāqin baʿīdin

(Their doom is) because Allah sent down the Book in truth but those who seek causes of dispute in the Book are in a schism Far (from the purpose).

Sura al-Baqara 2:185

شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَٰتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَٱلْفُرْقَانِ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ ٱلشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّـهُ بِكُمُ ٱلْيُسْرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ ٱلْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُوا۟ ٱلْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

shahru ramaḍāna alladhī unzila fīhi l-qurʾānu hudan lil-nāsi wa-bayyinātin mina l-hudā wa-l-furqāni fa-man shahida minkumu l-shahra fa-l-yaṣumhu wa-man kāna marīḍan aw ʿalā safarin faʿiddatun min ayyāmin ukhara yurīdu allāhu bikumu l-yusra wa-lā yurīdu bikumu l-ʿusra wa-li-tukmilū l-ʿiddata wa-li-tukabbirū allāha ʿalā mā hadākum wa-la-ʿallakum tashkurūna

Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.

Sura al-Baqara 2:213

كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ وَأَنزَلَ مَعَهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فِيمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفَ فِيهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ فَهَدَى ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لِمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَٱللَّـهُ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

kāna l-nāsu ummatan wāḥidatan fa-baʿatha allāhu l-nabiyyina mubashshirīna wa-mundhirīna wa-anzala maʿahumu l-kitāba bil-ḥaqqi li-yaḥkuma bayna l-nāsi fī-mā akhtalafū fīhi wa-mā ikhtalafa fīhi illā lladhīna ūtūhu min baʿdi mā jāʾathumu l-bayyinātu baghyan baynahum fa-hadā allāhu lladhīna āmanū li-mā akhtalafū fīhi mina l-ḥaqqi bi-idhnihi wallāhu yahdī man yashāʾu ilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin

Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight.

Sura al-Baqara 2:231

وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ سَرِّحُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوهُنَّ ضِرَارًا لِّتَعْتَدُوا۟ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُۥ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ هُزُوًا وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّـهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَٱلْحِكْمَةِ يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

wa-idhā ṭallaqtumu l-nisāʾa fa-balaghna ajalahunna fa-amsikūhunna bi-maʿrūfin aw sarriḥūhunna bi-maʿrūfin wa-lā tumsikūhunna ḍirāran la-taʿtadū wa-man yafʿal dhālika fa-qad ẓalama nafsahu wa-lā tattakhidhū āyāti allāhi huzuwan wa-idhkurū niʿmata allāhi ʿalaykum wa-mā anzala ʿalaykum mina l-kitābi wa-l-ḥikmati yaʿiẓukum bihi wa-ittaqū allāha wa-iʿlamū annā allāha bi-kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun

When ye divorce women, and they fulfil the term of their ('Iddat), either take them back on equitable terms or set them free on equitable terms; but do not take them back to injure them, (or) to take undue advantage; if any one does that; He wrongs his own soul. Do not treat Allah's Signs as a jest, but solemnly rehearse Allah's favours on you, and the fact that He sent down to you the Book and Wisdom, for your instruction. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is well acquainted with all things.

Sura al-Baqara 2:285

ءَامَنَ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ كُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِۦ وَقَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

āmana l-rasūlu bimā unzila ilayhi min rabbihi wa-l-muʾminūna kullun āmana billāhi wa-malāʾikatihi wa-kutubihi wa-rusulihi lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin min rrusulihi wa-qālū samiʿnā wa-aṭaʿnā ghufrānaka rabbanā wa-ilayka l-maṣīru

The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:3

نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ

nazzala ʿalayka l-kitāba bil-ḥaqqi muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi wa-anzala l-tawrāta wa-l-injīla

It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:4

مِن قَبْلُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَٱللَّـهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ

min qablu hudan lil-nāsi wa-anzala l-furqāna inna lladhīna kafarū bi-āyāti allāhi lahum ʿadhābun shadīdun wallāhu ʿazīzun dhū intiqāmin

Then those who reject Faith in the Signs of Allah will suffer the severest penalty, and Allah is Exalted in Might, Lord of Retribution.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:7

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِنْهُ ءَايَٰتٌ مُّحْكَمَٰتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَٰبِهَٰتٌ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ زَيْغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَٰبَهَ مِنْهُ ٱبْتِغَآءَ ٱلْفِتْنَةِ وَٱبْتِغَآءَ تَأْوِيلِهِۦ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱللَّـهُ وَٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ رَبِّنَا وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّآ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ

huwa alladhī anzala ʿalayka l-kitāba minhu āyātun muḥkamātun hunna ummu l-kitābi wa-ukharu mutashābihātun fa-ammā lladhīna fī qulūbihim zayghun fa-yattabiʿūna mā tashābaha minhu ibtighāʾa l-fitnati wa-ibtighāʾa tawīlihi wa-mā yaʿlamu tawīlahu illā allāhu wa-l-rāsikhūna fī l-ʿilmi yaqūlūna āmannā bihi kullun min ʿindi rabbinā wa-mā yadhdhakkaru illā ūlū l-albābi

He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:65

يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تُحَآجُّونَ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَتِ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ وَٱلْإِنجِيلُ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

yāʾahla l-kitābi lima tuḥājjūna fī ibrāhīma wa-mā unzilati l-tawratu wa-alinjīlu illā min baʿdihi a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Ye People of the Book! Why dispute ye about Abraham, when the Law and the Gospel Were not revealed Till after him? Have ye no understanding?

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:72

وَقَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَجْهَ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟ ءَاخِرَهُۥ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

waqālat ṭāʾifatun min ahli l-kitābi āminū bi-lladhī unzila ʿalā lladhīna āmanū wajha l-nahāri wa-akfurū ākhirahu la-ʿallahum yarjiʿūna

A section of the People of the Book say: "Believe in the morning what is revealed to the believers, but reject it at the end of the day; perchance they may (themselves) Turn back;

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:84

قُلْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَٱلنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ

qul āmannā billāhi wa-mā unzila ʿalaynā wa-mā unzila ʿala ibrāhīma wa-ismāʿīla wa-isḥāqa wa-yaʿqūba wa-l-asbāṭi wa-mā ūtiya mūsā wa-ʿīsa wa-l-nabīyūna min rabbihim lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin minhum wa-naḥnu lahu muslimūna

Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:93

كُلُّ ٱلطَّعَامِ كَانَ حِلًّا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ إِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تُنَزَّلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ فَٱتْلُوهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

kullu l-ṭaʿāmi kāna ḥillan li-banī isrāʾīla illā mā ḥarrama isrāʾīlu ʿalā nafsihi min qabli an tunazzala l-tawratu qul fa-ʾtū bil-tawrati fa-atlūhā in kuntum ṣādiqīna

All food was lawful to the Children of Israel, except what Israel Made unlawful for itself, before the Law (of Moses) was revealed. Say: "Bring ye the Law and study it, if ye be men of truth."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:151

سَنُلْقِى فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلرُّعْبَ بِمَآ أَشْرَكُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ سُلْطَٰنًا وَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

sa-nulqī fī qulūbi lladhīna kafarū l-ruʿba bimā ashrakū billāhi mā lam yunazzil bihi sulṭānan wa-maʾwāhumu l-nāru wa-biʾsa mathwā l-ẓālimīna

Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority: their abode will be the Fire: And evil is the home of the wrong-doers!

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:154

ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُّعَاسًا يَغْشَىٰ طَآئِفَةً مِّنكُمْ وَطَآئِفَةٌ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّـهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ ظَنَّ ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ يَقُولُونَ هَل لَّنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ مِن شَىْءٍ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَمْرَ كُلَّهُۥ لِلَّـهِ يُخْفُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِم مَّا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَٰهُنَا قُل لَّوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَتْلُ إِلَىٰ مَضَاجِعِهِمْ وَلِيَبْتَلِىَ ٱللَّـهُ مَا فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

thumma anzala ʿalaykum min baʿdi l-ghammi amanatan nnuʿāsan yaghshā ṭāʾifatan minkum wa-ṭāʾifatun qad ahammathum anfusuhum yaẓunnūna billāhi ghayra l-ḥaqqi ẓanna l-jāhiliyyati yaqūlūna hal lanā mina l-amri min shayʾin qul inna l-amra kullahu lillāhi yukhfūna fī anfusihim mā lā yubdūna la-ka yaqūlūna law kāna la-nā mina l-amri shayʾun mā qutilnā hāhunā qul law kuntum fī buyūtikum labaraza lladhīna kutiba ʿalayhimu l-qatlu ilā maḍājiʿihim wa-li-yabtaliya allāhu mā fī ṣudūrikum wa-li-yumaḥḥiṣa mā fī qulūbikum wallāhu ʿalīmun bi-dhāti l-ṣudūri

After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions due to ignorance. They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:199

وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَمَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ خَٰشِعِينَ لِلَّـهِ لَا يَشْتَرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ

wa-inna min ahli l-kitābi laman yuʾminū billāhi wa-mā unzila ilaykum wa-mā unzila ilayhim khāshiʿīna lillāhi lā yashtarūna bi-āyāti allāhi thamanan qalīlan ulāʾika lahum ajruhum ʿinda rabbihim inna allāha sarīʿu l-ḥisābi

And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book, those who believe in Allah, in the revelation to you, and in the revelation to them, bowing in humility to Allah: They will not sell the Signs of Allah for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and Allah is swift in account.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:60

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَقَدْ أُمِرُوٓا۟ أَن يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا

a-lam tara ilā lladhīna yazʿumūna annahum āmanū bimā unzila ilayka wa-mā unzila min qablika yurīdūna an yataḥākamū ilā l-ṭāghūti wa-qad umirū an yakfurū bihi wa-yurīdu l-shayṭānu an yuḍillahum ḍalālan baʿīdan

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who declare that they believe in the revelations that have come to thee and to those before thee? Their (real) wish is to resort together for judgment (in their disputes) to the Evil One, though they were ordered to reject him. But Satan's wish is to lead them astray far away (from the right).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:61

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ رَأَيْتَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودًا

wa-idhā qīla lahum taʿālaw ilā mā anzala allāhu wa-ilā l-rasūli raayta l-munāfiqīna yaṣuddūna ʿanka ṣudūdan

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed, and to the Messenger": Thou seest the Hypocrites avert their faces from thee in disgust.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:113

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ ٱللَّـهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ لَهَمَّت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُضِلُّوكَ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِن شَىْءٍ وَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمْ تَكُن تَعْلَمُ وَكَانَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّـهِ عَلَيْكَ عَظِيمًا

wa-lawlā faḍlu allāhi ʿalayka wa-raḥmatuhu lahammat ṭāʾifatun minhum an yuḍillūka wa-mā yuḍillūna illā anfusahum wa-mā yaḍurrūnaka min shayʾin waanzala allāhu ʿalayka l-kitāba wa-l-ḥikmata wa-ʿallamaka mā lam takun taʿlamu wa-kāna faḍlu allāhi ʿalayka ʿaẓīman

But for the Grace of Allah to thee and his Mercy, a party of them would certainly have plotted to lead thee astray. But (in fact) they will only Lead their own souls astray, and to thee they can do no harm in the least. For Allah hath sent down to thee the Book and wisdom and taught thee what thou Knewest not (before): And great is the Grace of Allah unto thee.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:136

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبْلُ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū āminū billāhi wa-rasūlihi wa-l-kitābi alladhī nazzala ʿalā rasūlihi wa-l-kitābi alladhī anzala min qablu wa-man yakfur billāhi wa-malāʾikatihi wa-kutubihi wa-rusulihi wa-l-yawmi l-akhiri fa-qad ḍalla ḍalālan baʿīdan

O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the scripture which He hath sent to His Messenger and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). Any who denieth Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment, hath gone far, far astray.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:140

وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَأُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُوا۟ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا مِّثْلُهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ جَامِعُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ جَمِيعًا

wa-qad nazzala ʿalaykum fī l-kitābi an idhā samiʿtum āyāti allāhi yukfaru bihā wa-yustahzaʾu bihā fa-lā taqʿudū maʿahum ḥattā yakhūḍū fī ḥadīthin ghayrihi innakum idhan mithluhum inna allāha jāmiʿu l-munāfiqīna wa-l-kāfirīna fī jahannama jamīʿan

Already has He sent you Word in the Book, that when ye hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, ye are not to sit with them unless they turn to a different theme: if ye did, ye would be like them. For Allah will collect the hypocrites and those who defy faith - all in Hell:-

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:162

لَّٰكِنِ ٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ وَٱلْمُقِيمِينَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱلْمُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤْتِيهِمْ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

lākini l-rāsikhūna fī l-ʿilmi minhum wa-l-muʾminūna yuʾminūna bimā unzila ilayka wa-mā unzila min qablika wa-l-muqīmīna l-ṣalāta wa-l-mutūna l-zakāta wa-l-muʾminūna billāhi wa-l-yawmi l-akhiri ulāʾika sa-nuʾtīhim ajran ʿaẓīman

But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee: And (especially) those who establish regular prayer and practise regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: To them shall We soon give a great reward.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:166

لَّٰكِنِ ٱللَّـهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكَ أَنزَلَهُۥ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّـهِ شَهِيدًا

lākini allāhu yashhadu bimā anzala ilayka anzalahu biʿilmihi wa-l-malāʾikatu yashhadūna wa-kafā billāhi shahīdan

But Allah beareth witness that what He hath sent unto thee He hath sent from His (own) knowledge, and the angels bear witness: But enough is Allah for a witness.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:44

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ فِيهَا هُدًى وَنُورٌ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلرَّبَّٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟ مِن كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّـهِ وَكَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَآءَ فَلَا تَخْشَوُا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱخْشَوْنِ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

innā anzalnā l-tawrāta fīhā hudan wa-nūrun yaḥkumu bihā l-nabiyyūna lladhīna aslamū li-lladhīna hādū wa-l-rabbānīyūna wa-l-aḥbāru bi-mā istuḥfiẓū min kitābi allāhi wakānū ʿalayhi shuhadāʾa fa-lā takhshawu l-nāsa wakhshawni wa-lā tashtarū bi-āyāti thamanan qalīlan wa-man lam yaḥkum bimā anzala allāhu fa-ūlāʾika humu l-kāfirūna

It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:45

وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَآ أَنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ بِٱلنَّفْسِ وَٱلْعَيْنَ بِٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱلْأَنفَ بِٱلْأَنفِ وَٱلْأُذُنَ بِٱلْأُذُنِ وَٱلسِّنَّ بِٱلسِّنِّ وَٱلْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُۥ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ

wa-katabnā ʿalayhim fīhā annā l-nafsa bil-nafsi wa-l-ʿayna bil-ʿayni wa-l-anfa bil-anfi wa-l-udhuna bil-udhuni wa-l-sinna bil-sinni wa-l-jurūḥa qiṣāṣun fa-man taṣaddaqa bihi fa-huwa kaffāratun lahu wa-man lam yaḥkum bimā anzala allāhu fa-ūlāʾika humu l-ẓālimūna

We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:47

وَلْيَحْكُمْ أَهْلُ ٱلْإِنجِيلِ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ فِيهِ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ

wa-l-yaḥkum ahlu li-injīli bimā anzala allāhu fīhi wa-man lam yaḥkum bimā anzala allāhu fa-ūlāʾika humu l-fāsiqūna

Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:48

وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِى مَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ إِلَى ٱللَّـهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ

wa-anzalnā ilayka l-kitāba bil-ḥaqqi muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi mina l-kitābi wa-muhayminan ʿalayhi fa-aḥkum baynahum bimā anzala allāhu wa-lā tattabiʿ ahwāʾahum ʿammā jāʾaka mina l-ḥaqqi li-kullin jaʿalnā minkum shirʿatan wa-minhājan wa-law shāʾa allāhu lajaʿalakum ummatan wāḥidatan wa-lākin li-yabluwakum fī mā ātakum fa-istabiqū l-khayrāti ilā allāhi marjiʿukum jamīʿan fa-yunabbiʾukum bi-mā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūna

To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:49

وَأَنِ ٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَٱحْذَرْهُمْ أَن يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنۢ بَعْضِ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَيْكَ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّـهُ أَن يُصِيبَهُم بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَفَٰسِقُونَ

wa-ani aḥkum baynahum bimā anzala allāhu wa-lā tattabiʿ ahwāʾahum wa-aḥdharhum an yaftinūka ʿan baʿḍi mā anzala allāhu ilayka fa-in tawallaw fa-iʿlam annamā yurīdu allāhu an yuṣībahum bi-baʿḍi dhunūbihim wa-inna kathīran mina l-nāsi lafāsiqūna

And this (He commands): Judge thou between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they beguile thee from any of that (teaching) which Allah hath sent down to thee. And if they turn away, be assured that for some of their crime it is Allah's purpose to punish them. And truly most men are rebellious.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:59

قُلْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ هَلْ تَنقِمُونَ مِنَّآ إِلَّآ أَنْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلُ وَأَنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ فَٰسِقُونَ

qul yāʾahla l-kitābi hal tanqimūna minnā illā an āmannā billāhi wa-mā unzila ilaynā wa-mā unzila min qablu wa-anna aktharakum fāsiqūna

Say: "O people of the Book! Do ye disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah, and the revelation that hath come to us and that which came before (us), and (perhaps) that most of you are rebellious and disobedient?"

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:64

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ يَدُ ٱللَّـهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا۟ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ يُنفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَٰنًا وَكُفْرًا وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ كُلَّمَآ أَوْقَدُوا۟ نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا ٱللَّـهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا وَٱللَّـهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

waqālati l-yahūdu yadu allāhi maghlūlatun ghullat aydīhim wa-luʿinū bi-mā qālū bal yadāhu mabsūṭatāni yunfiqu kayfa yashāʾu wa-la-yazīdanna kathīran minhum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭughyānan wa-kufran wa-l-qaynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wa-l-baghḍāʾa ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati kullamā awqadū nāran lil-ḥarbi aṭfaʾahā allāhu wa-yasʿawna fī l-arḍi fasādan wallāhu lā yuḥibbu l-mufsidīna

The Jews say: "Allah's hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:66

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِم مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ لَأَكَلُوا۟ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِم مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَآءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ

wa-law annahum aqāmū l-tawrāta wa-l-injīla wa-mā unzila ilayhim min rabbihim laakalū min fawqihim wa-min taḥti arjulihim minhum ummatun muqtaṣidatun wa-kathīrun minhum sāa mā yaʿmalūna

If only they had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course: but many of them follow a course that is evil.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:67

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ وَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُۥ وَٱللَّـهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

yā-ayyuhā l-rasūlu balligh mā unzila ilayka min rabbika wa-in lam tafʿal fa-mā ballaghta risālatahu wallāhu yaʿṣimuka mina l-nāsi inna allāha lā yahdī l-qawma l-kāfirīna

O Messenger! proclaim the (message) which hath been sent to thee from thy Lord. If thou didst not, thou wouldst not have fulfilled and proclaimed His mission. And Allah will defend thee from men (who mean mischief). For Allah guideth not those who reject Faith.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:68

قُلْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ تُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَٰنًا وَكُفْرًا فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

qul yāʾahla l-kitābi lastum ʿalā shayʾin ḥattā tuqīmū l-tawrāta wa-l-injīla wa-mā unzila ilaykum min rabbikum wa-la-yazīdanna kathīran minhum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭughyānan wa-kufran fa-lā taʾsa ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīna

Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:81

وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَٱلنَّبِىِّ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَا ٱتَّخَذُوهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَٰكِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَ

wa-law kānū yuʾminūna billāhi wa-l-nabiyyi wa-mā unzila ilayhi mā ittakhadhūhum awliyāʾa wa-lākinna kathīran minhum fāsiqūna

If only they had believed in Allah, in the Prophet, and in what hath been revealed to him, never would they have taken them for friends and protectors, but most of them are rebellious wrong-doers.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:83

وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا۟ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ تَرَىٰٓ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ ٱلدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

wa-idhā samiʿū mā unzila ilā l-rasūli tara aʿyunahum tafīḍu mina l-damʿi mimmā ʿarafū mina l-ḥaqqi yaqūlūna rabbanā āmannā fa-iktubnā maʿa l-shāhidīna

And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:101

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَسْـَٔلُوا۟ عَنْ أَشْيَآءَ إِن تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ وَإِن تَسْـَٔلُوا۟ عَنْهَا حِينَ يُنَزَّلُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ عَفَا ٱللَّـهُ عَنْهَا وَٱللَّـهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tasʾalū ʿan ashyāʾa in tubda la-kum tasukum wa-in tasʾalū ʿanhā ḥīna yunazzalu l-qurʾānu tubda la-kum ʿafā allāhu ʿanhā wallāhu ghafūrun ḥalīmun

O ye who believe! Ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if ye ask about things when the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be made plain to you, Allah will forgive those: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:104

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ قَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ

wa-idhā qīla lahum taʿālaw ilā mā anzala allāhu wa-ilā l-rasūli qālū ḥasbunā mā wajadnā ʿalayhi ābāʾanā awalaw kāna ābāʾuhum lā yaʿlamūna shayʾan wa-lā yahtadūna

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed; come to the Messenger": They say: "Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following." what! even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:112

إِذْ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ قَالَ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

idh qalā l-ḥawāriyyūna yā-ʿīsā ibna maryama hal yastaṭīʿu rabbuka an yunazzila ʿalaynā māʾidatan mina l-samāʾi qalā ittaqū allāha in kuntum muʾminīna

Behold! the disciples, said: "O Jesus the son of Mary! can thy Lord send down to us a table set (with viands) from heaven?" Said Jesus: "Fear Allah, if ye have faith."

Sura al-Anʿām 6:8

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ وَلَوْ أَنزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنظَرُونَ

wa-qālū lawlā unzila ʿalayhi malakun wa-law anzalnā malakan la-quḍiya l-amru thumma lā yunẓarūna

They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:37

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُنَزِّلَ ءَايَةً وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-qālū lawlā nuzzila ʿalayhi āyatun min rabbihi qul inna allāha qādirun ʿala an yunazzila āyatan wa-lākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūna

They say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "Allah hath certainly power to send down a sign: but most of them understand not.
