Sura al-Baqara 2:50

وَإِذْ فَرَقْنَا بِكُمُ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَنجَيْنَٰكُمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ

wa-idh faraqnā bikumu l-baḥra fa-anjaynākum wa-aghraqnā āla firʿawna wa-antum tanẓurūna

And remember We divided the sea for you and saved you and drowned Pharaoh's people within your very sight.

Sura al-Baqara 2:55

وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ نَرَى ٱللَّـهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْكُمُ ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ

wa-idh qultum yā-mūsā lan nuʾmina la-ka ḥattā narā allāha jahratan fa-akhadhatkumu l-ṣāʿiqatu wa-antum tanẓurūna

And remember ye said: "O Moses! We shall never believe in thee until we see Allah manifestly," but ye were dazed with thunder and lighting even as ye looked on.

Sura al-Baqara 2:104

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقُولُوا۟ رَٰعِنَا وَقُولُوا۟ ٱنظُرْنَا وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā taqūlū rāʿinā wa-qūlū unẓurnā wa-ismaʿū wa-lil-kāfirīna ʿadhābun alīmun

O ye of Faith! Say not (to the Messenger) words of ambiguous import, but words of respect; and hearken (to him): To those without Faith is a grievous punishment.

Sura al-Baqara 2:162

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ

khālidīna fīhā lā yukhaffafu ʿanhumu l-ʿadhābu wa-lā hum yunẓarūna

They will abide therein: Their penalty will not be lightened, nor will respite be their (lot).

Sura al-Baqara 2:210

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ فِى ظُلَلٍ مِّنَ ٱلْغَمَامِ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَإِلَى ٱللَّـهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ

hal yanẓurūna illā an yaʾtiyahumu allāhu fī ẓulalin mina l-ghamāmi wa-l-malāʾikatu wa-quḍiya l-amru wa-ilā allāhi turjaʿu l-umūru

Will they wait until Allah comes to them in canopies of clouds, with angels (in His train) and the question is (thus) settled? but to Allah do all questions go back (for decision).

Sura al-Baqara 2:259

أَوْ كَٱلَّذِى مَرَّ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا قَالَ أَنَّىٰ يُحْىِۦ هَٰذِهِ ٱللَّـهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا فَأَمَاتَهُ ٱللَّـهُ مِا۟ئَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُۥ قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ قَالَ بَل لَّبِثْتَ مِا۟ئَةَ عَامٍ فَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰ حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَى ٱلْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْمًا فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥ قَالَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

aw ka-lladhī marra ʿalā qaryatin wahiya khāwiyatun ʿalā ʿurūshihā qalā annā yuḥyi hādhihi allāhu baʿda mawtihā fa-amātahu allāhu miʾata ʿāmin thumma baʿathahu qalā kam labithta qalā labithtu yawman aw baʿḍa yawmin qalā bal llabithta miʾata ʿāmin fa-inẓur ilā ṭaʿāmika wa-sharābika lam yatasannah wa-unẓur ilā ḥimārika wa-li-najʿalaka āyatan lil-nāsi wa-unẓur ilā l-ʿiẓāmi kayfa nunshizuhā thumma naksūhā laḥman fa-lammā tabayyana lahu qalā aʿlamu annā allāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

Or (take) the similitude of one who passed by a hamlet, all in ruins to its roofs. He said: "Oh! how shall Allah bring it (ever) to life, after (this) its death?" but Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long didst thou tarry (thus)?" He said: (Perhaps) a day or part of a day." He said: "Nay, thou hast tarried thus a hundred years; but look at thy food and thy drink; they show no signs of age; and look at thy donkey: And that We may make of thee a sign unto the people, Look further at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh." When this was shown clearly to him, he said: "I know that Allah hath power over all things."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:77

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّـهِ وَأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَا خَلَٰقَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَا يَنظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

inna lladhīna yashtarūna biʿahdi allāhi wa-aymānihim thamanan qalīlan ulāʾika lā khalāqa lahum fī l-akhirati wa-lā yukallimuhumu allāhu wa-lā yanẓuru ilayhim yawma l-qiyāmati wa-lā yuzakkīhim wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun

As for those who sell the faith they owe to Allah and their own plighted word for a small price, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter: Nor will Allah (Deign to) speak to them or look at them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He cleans them (of sin): They shall have a grievous penalty.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:88

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ

khālidīna fīhā lā yukhaffafu ʿanhumu l-ʿadhābu wa-lā hum yunẓarūna

In that will they dwell; nor will their penalty be lightened, nor respite be (their lot);-

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:137

قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

qad khalat min qablikum sunanun fa-sīrū fī l-arḍi fa-inẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukadhdhibīna

Many were the Ways of Life that have passed away before you: travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:143

وَلَقَدْ كُنتُمْ تَمَنَّوْنَ ٱلْمَوْتَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَلْقَوْهُ فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ

wa-la-qad kuntum tamannawna l-mawtā min qabli an talqawhu fa-qad raaytumūhu wa-antum tanẓurūna

Ye did indeed wish for death before ye met him: Now ye have seen him with your own eyes, (And ye flinch!)

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:46

مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَٰعِنَا لَيًّۢا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ وَٱنظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

mina lladhīna hādū yuḥarrifūna l-kalima ʿan mawāḍiʿihi wa-yaqūlūna samiʿnā wa-ʿaṣaynā wa-ismaʿ ghayra musmaʿin wa-rāʿinā layyan bi-alsinatihim wa-ṭaʿnan fī l-dīni wa-law annahum qālū samiʿnā wa-aṭaʿnā wa-ismaʿ wa-anẓurnā la-kāna khayran lahum wa-aqwama wa-lākin laʿanahumu allāhu bi-kufrihim fa-lā yuʾminūna illā qalīlan

Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "We hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:50

ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِۦٓ إِثْمًا مُّبِينًا

inẓur kayfa yaftarūna ʿalā allāhi l-kadhiba wa-kafā bihi ithman mubīnan

Behold! how they invent a lie against Allah! but that by itself is a manifest sin!

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:75

مَّا ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ وَأُمُّهُۥ صِدِّيقَةٌ كَانَا يَأْكُلَانِ ٱلطَّعَامَ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُبَيِّنُ لَهُمُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ ثُمَّ ٱنظُرْ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ

mā l-masīḥu ibnu maryama illā rasūlun qad khalat min qablihi l-rusulu wa-ummuhu ṣiddīqatun kānā yakulāni l-ṭaʿāma inẓur kayfa nubayyinu lahumu l-ayāti thumma inẓur annā yuʾfakūna

Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!

Sura al-Anʿām 6:8

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ وَلَوْ أَنزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنظَرُونَ

wa-qālū lawlā unzila ʿalayhi malakun wa-law anzalnā malakan la-quḍiya l-amru thumma lā yunẓarūna

They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:11

قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ ٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

qul sīrū fī l-arḍi thumma inẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukadhdhibīna

Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth."

Sura al-Anʿām 6:24

ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

inẓur kayfa kadhabū ʿala anfusihim wa-ḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūna

Behold! how they lie against their own souls! But the (lie) which they invented will leave them in the lurch.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:46

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّـهُ سَمْعَكُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرَكُمْ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُم مَّنْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّـهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِهِ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ ثُمَّ هُمْ يَصْدِفُونَ

qul a-raʾaytum in akhadha allāhu samʿakum wa-abṣārakum wa-khatama ʿalā qulūbikum man ilāhun ghayru allāhi yaʾtīkum bihi inẓur kayfa nuṣarrifu l-ayāti thumma hum yaṣdifūna

Say: "Think ye, if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed up your hearts, who - a god other than Allah - could restore them to you?" See how We explain the signs by various (symbols); yet they turn aside.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:65

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلْقَادِرُ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُم بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَفْقَهُونَ

qul huwa l-qādiru ʿala an yabʿatha ʿalaykum ʿadhāban min fawqikum aw min taḥti arjulikum aw yalbisakum shiyaʿan wa-yudhīqa baʿḍakum baʾsa baʿḍin inẓur kayfa nuṣarrifu l-ayāti la-ʿallahum yafqahūna

Say: "He hath power to send calamities on you, from above and below, or to cover you with confusion in party strife, giving you a taste of mutual vengeance - each from the other." See how We explain the signs by various (symbols); that they may understand.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:99

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهُ خَضِرًا نُّخْرِجُ مِنْهُ حَبًّا مُّتَرَاكِبًا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّخْلِ مِن طَلْعِهَا قِنْوَانٌ دَانِيَةٌ وَجَنَّٰتٍ مِّنْ أَعْنَابٍ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُشْتَبِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَٰبِهٍ ٱنظُرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثْمَرَ وَيَنْعِهِۦٓ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكُمْ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

wa-huwa alladhī anzala mina l-samāʾi māʾan fa-akhrajnā bihi nabāta kulli shayʾin fa-akhrajnā minhu khaḍiran nnukhriju minhu ḥabban mutarākiban wa-mina l-nakhli min ṭalʿihā qinwānun dāniyatun wa-jannātin min aʿnābin wa-l-zaytūna wa-l-rummāna mushtabihan wa-ghayra mutashābihin anẓurū ilā thamarihi idhā athmara wa-yanʿihi inna fī dhālikum la-āyātin li-qawmin yuʾminūna

It is He Who sendeth down rain from the skies: with it We produce vegetation of all kinds: from some We produce green (crops), out of which We produce grain, heaped up (at harvest); out of the date-palm and its sheaths (or spathes) (come) clusters of dates hanging low and near: and (then there are) gardens of grapes, and olives, and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety): when they begin to bear fruit, feast your eyes with the fruit and the ripeness thereof. Behold! in these things there are signs for people who believe.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:158

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَٰنُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ ءَامَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِىٓ إِيمَٰنِهَا خَيْرًا قُلِ ٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ

hal yanẓurūna illā an taʾtiyahumu l-malāʾikatu aw yaʾtiya rabbuka aw yaʾtiya baʿḍu āyāti rabbika yawma yaʾtī baʿḍu āyāti rabbika lā yanfaʿu nafsan īmānuhā lam takun āmanat min qablu aw kasabat fī īmānihā khayran quli antaẓirū innā muntaẓirūna

Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:14

قَالَ أَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

qalā anẓirnī ilā yawmi yubʿathūna

He said: "Give me respite till the day they are raised up."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:53

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا تَأْوِيلَهُۥ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى تَأْوِيلُهُۥ يَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوهُ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَآءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ فَهَل لَّنَا مِن شُفَعَآءَ فَيَشْفَعُوا۟ لَنَآ أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ قَدْ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

hal yanẓurūna illā taʾwīlahu yawma yaʾtī taʾwīluhu yaqūlu lladhīna nasūhu min qablu qad jāʾat rusulu rabbinā bil-ḥaqqi fahal lanā min shufaʿāʾa fayashfaʿū lanā aw nuraddu fanaʿmala ghayra alladhī kunnā naʿmalu qad khasirū anfusahum wa-ḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūna

Do they just wait for the final fulfilment of the event? On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). Have we no intercessors now to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back? then should we behave differently from our behaviour in the past." In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:71

قَالَ قَدْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ رِجْسٌ وَغَضَبٌ أَتُجَٰدِلُونَنِى فِىٓ أَسْمَآءٍ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَٰنٍ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ

qalā qad waqaʿa ʿalaykum min rabbikum rijsun wa-ghaḍabun a-tujādilūnanī fī asmāʾin sammaytumūhā antum wa-ābāukum mā nazzala allāhu bihā min sulṭānin fa-intaẓirū innī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīna

He said: "Punishment and wrath have already come upon you from your Lord: dispute ye with me over names which ye have devised - ye and your fathers,- without authority from Allah? then wait: I am amongst you, also waiting."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:84

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim maṭaran fa-inẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mujrimīna

And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): Then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime!

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:86

وَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ بِكُلِّ صِرَٰطٍ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ كُنتُمْ قَلِيلًا فَكَثَّرَكُمْ وَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

wa-lā taqʿudū bi-kulli ṣirāṭin tūʿidūna wa-taṣuddūna ʿan sabīli allāhi man āmana bihi wa-tabghūnahā ʿiwajan wa-idhkurū idh kuntum qalīlan fa-kaththarakum wa-anẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mufsidīna

"And squat not on every road, breathing threats, hindering from the path of Allah those who believe in Him, and seeking in it something crooked; But remember how ye were little, and He gave you increase. And hold in your mind's eye what was the end of those who did mischief.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:103

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِ فَظَلَمُوا۟ بِهَا فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

thumma baʿathnā min baʿdihim mūsā bi-āyātinā ilā firʿawna wa-malāʾīhi fa-ẓalamū bihā fa-inẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mufsidīna

Then after them We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them: So see what was the end of those who made mischief.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:129

قَالُوٓا۟ أُوذِينَا مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَأْتِيَنَا وَمِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جِئْتَنَا قَالَ عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَن يُهْلِكَ عَدُوَّكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ

qālū ūdhīnā min qabli an tatīanā wa-min baʿdi mā jitanā qalā ʿasā rabbukum an yuhlika ʿadūwakum wa-yastakhlifakum fī l-arḍi fa-yanẓura kayfa taʿmalūna

They said: "We have had (nothing but) trouble, both before and after thou camest to us." He said: "It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you inheritors in the earth; that so He may try you by your deeds."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:143

وَلَمَّا جَآءَ مُوسَىٰ لِمِيقَٰتِنَا وَكَلَّمَهُۥ رَبُّهُۥ قَالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِىٓ أَنظُرْ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ لَن تَرَىٰنِى وَلَٰكِنِ ٱنظُرْ إِلَى ٱلْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ ٱسْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهُۥ فَسَوْفَ تَرَىٰنِى فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّىٰ رَبُّهُۥ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُۥ دَكًّا وَخَرَّ مُوسَىٰ صَعِقًا فَلَمَّآ أَفَاقَ قَالَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa-lammā jāa mūsā limīqātinā wa-kallamahu rabbuhu qalā rabbi arinī anẓur ilayka qalā lan taranī wa-lākini inẓur ilā l-jabali fa-ini staqarra makānahu fa-sawfa taranī fa-lammā tajallā rabbuhu lil-jabali jaʿalahu dakkan wa-kharra mūsā ṣaʿiqan fa-lammā afāqa qalā subḥānaka tubtu ilayka wa-anā awwalu l-muʾminīna

When Moses came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, He said: "O my Lord! show (Thyself) to me, that I may look upon thee." Allah said: "By no means canst thou see Me (direct); But look upon the mount; if it abide in its place, then shalt thou see Me." When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount, He made it as dust. And Moses fell down in a swoon. When he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to Thee! to Thee I turn in repentance, and I am the first to believe."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:185

أَوَلَمْ يَنظُرُوا۟ فِى مَلَكُوتِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّـهُ مِن شَىْءٍ وَأَنْ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ قَدِ ٱقْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ

a-wa-lam yanẓurū fī malakūti l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-mā khalaqa allāhu min shayʾin wa-an ʿasā an yakūna qadi iqtaraba ajaluhum fa-bi-ayyi ḥadīthin baʿdahu yuʾminūna

Do they see nothing in the government of the heavens and the earth and all that Allah hath created? (Do they not see) that it may well be that their terms is nigh drawing to an end? In what message after this will they then believe?

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:195

أَلَهُمْ أَرْجُلٌ يَمْشُونَ بِهَآ أَمْ لَهُمْ أَيْدٍ يَبْطِشُونَ بِهَآ أَمْ لَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَآ أَمْ لَهُمْ ءَاذَانٌ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ ثُمَّ كِيدُونِ فَلَا تُنظِرُونِ

alahum arjulun yamshūna bihā am lahum aydin yabṭishūna bihā am lahum aʿyunun yubṣirūna bihā am lahum ādhānun yasmaʿūna bihā quli idʿū shurakāʾakum thumma kīdūni fa-lā tunẓirūni

Have they feet to walk with? Or hands to lay hold with? Or eyes to see with? Or ears to hear with? Say: "Call your 'god-partners', scheme (your worst) against me, and give me no respite!

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:198

وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَا يَسْمَعُوا۟ وَتَرَىٰهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ

wa-in tadʿūhum ilā l-hudā lā yasmaʿū wa-tarāhum yanẓurūna ilayka wa-hum lā yubṣirūna

If thou callest them to guidance, they hear not. Thou wilt see them looking at thee, but they see not.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:6

يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ فِى ٱلْحَقِّ بَعْدَمَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ

yujādilūnaka fī l-ḥaqqi baʿdamā tabayyana ka-annamā yusāqūna ilā l-mawti wa-hum yanẓurūna

Disputing with thee concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death and they (actually) saw it.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:127

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ هَلْ يَرَىٰكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ ثُمَّ ٱنصَرَفُوا۟ صَرَفَ ٱللَّـهُ قُلُوبَهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ

wa-idhā mā unzilat sūratun naẓara baʿḍuhum ilā baʿḍin hal yarakum min aḥadin thumma anṣarafū ṣarafa allāhu qulūbahum bi-annahum qawmun lā yafqahūna

Whenever there cometh down a Sura, they look at each other, (saying), "Doth anyone see you?" Then they turn aside: Allah hath turned their hearts (from the light); for they are a people that understand not.

Sura Yūnus 10:14

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لِنَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ

thumma jaʿalnākum khalāʾifa fī l-arḍi min baʿdihim li-nanẓura kayfa taʿmalūna

Then We made you heirs in the land after them, to see how ye would behave!

Sura Yūnus 10:20

وَيَقُولُونَ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ فَقُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْغَيْبُ لِلَّـهِ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ

wa-yaqūlūna lawlā unzila ʿalayhi āyatun min rabbihi fa-qul innamā l-ghaybu lillāhi fa-intaẓirū innī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīna

They say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "The Unseen is only for Allah (to know), then wait ye: I too will wait with you."

Sura Yūnus 10:39

بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يُحِيطُوا۟ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِهِمْ تَأْوِيلُهُۥ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

bal kadhdhabū bi-mā lam yuḥīṭū biʿilmihi wa-lammā yaʾtihim taʾwīluhu ka-dhālika kadhdhaba lladhīna min qablihim fa-inẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-ẓālimīna

Nay, they charge with falsehood that whose knowledge they cannot compass, even before the elucidation thereof hath reached them: thus did those before them make charges of falsehood: but see what was the end of those who did wrong!

Sura Yūnus 10:43

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيْكَ أَفَأَنتَ تَهْدِى ٱلْعُمْىَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ

wa-minhum man yanẓuru ilayka a-fa-anta tahdī l-ʿuma wa-law kānū lā yubṣirūna

And among them are some who look at thee: but canst thou guide the blind,- even though they will not see?

Sura Yūnus 10:71

وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ نُوحٍ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ إِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكُم مَّقَامِى وَتَذْكِيرِى بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ فَعَلَى ٱللَّـهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ فَأَجْمِعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَكُمْ وَشُرَكَآءَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُنْ أَمْرُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ غُمَّةً ثُمَّ ٱقْضُوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ وَلَا تُنظِرُونِ

wa-itlu ʿalayhim nabaʾa nūḥin idh qalā li-qawmihi yā-qawmi in kāna kabura ʿalaykum maqāmī wa-tadhkīrī bi-āyāti allāhi faʿala allāhi tawakkaltu faajmiʿū amrakum washurakāakum thumma lā yakun amrukum ʿalaykum ghummatan thumma aqḍū ilayya wa-lā tunẓirūni

Relate to them the story of Noah. Behold! he said to his people: "O my people, if it be hard on your (mind) that I should stay (with you) and commemorate the signs of Allah,- yet I put my trust in Allah. Get ye then an agreement about your plan and among your partners, so your plan be on to you dark and dubious. Then pass your sentence on me, and give me no respite.

Sura Yūnus 10:73

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ وَأَغْرَقْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ

fa-kadhdhabūhu fa-najjaynāhu wa-man maʿahu fī l-fulki wa-jaʿalnāhum khalāʾifa wa-aghraqnā lladhīna kadhdhabū bi-āyātinā fa-inẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mundharīna

They rejected Him, but We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark, and We made them inherit (the earth), while We overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our Signs. Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not)!

Sura Yūnus 10:101

قُلِ ٱنظُرُوا۟ مَاذَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا تُغْنِى ٱلْأَيَٰتُ وَٱلنُّذُرُ عَن قَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ

quli inẓurū mādhā fī l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-mā tughnī l-ayātu wa-l-nudhuru ʿan qawmin lā yuʾminūna

Say: "Behold all that is in the heavens and on earth"; but neither Signs nor Warners profit those who believe not.

Sura Yūnus 10:102

فَهَلْ يَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثْلَ أَيَّامِ ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قُلْ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ

fa-hal yantaẓirūna illā mithla ayyāmi lladhīna khalaw min qablihim qul fa-intaẓirū innī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīna

Do they then expect (any thing) but (what happened in) the days of the men who passed away before them? Say: "Wait ye then: for I, too, will wait with you."

Sura Hūd 11:55

مِن دُونِهِۦ فَكِيدُونِى جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ لَا تُنظِرُونِ

min dūnihi fa-kīdūnī jamīʿan thumma lā tunẓirūni

"Other gods as partners! so scheme (your worst) against me, all of you, and give me no respite.

Sura Hūd 11:122

وَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ

wa-intaẓirū innā muntaẓirūna

"And wait ye! We too shall wait."

Sura Yūsuf 12:109

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَدَارُ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-mā arsalnā min qablika illā rijālan nnūḥī ilayhim min ahli al-qura a-fa-lam yasīrū fī l-arḍi fa-yanẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu lladhīna min qablihim wa-ladāru l-akhirati khayrun li-lladhīna ittaqaw a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Nor did We send before thee (as messengers) any but men, whom we did inspire,- (men) living in human habitations. Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? But the home of the hereafter is best, for those who do right. Will ye not then understand?

Sura al-Ḥijr 15:36

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

qalā rabbi fa-anẓirnī ilā yawmi yubʿathūna

(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."

Sura al-Naḥl 16:33

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

hal yanẓurūna illā an taʾtiyahumu l-malāʾikatu aw yaʾtiya amru rabbika ka-dhālika faʿala lladhīna min qablihim wa-mā ẓalamahumu allāhu wa-lākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūna

Do the (ungodly) wait until the angels come to them, or there comes the Command of thy Lord (for their doom)? So did those who went before them. But Allah wronged them not: nay, they wronged their own souls.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:36

وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى ٱللَّـهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

wa-la-qad baʿathnā fī kulli ummatin rrasūlan ani iʿbudū allāha wa-ijtanibū l-ṭāghūta fa-minhum man hadā allāhu wa-minhum man ḥaqqat ʿalayhi l-ḍalālatu fa-sīrū fī l-arḍi fa-inẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukadhdhibīna

For We assuredly sent amongst every People a messenger, (with the Command), "Serve Allah, and eschew Evil": of the People were some whom Allah guided, and some on whom error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who denied (the Truth).

Sura al-Naḥl 16:85

وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ

wa-idhā raʾā lladhīna ẓalamū l-ʿadhāba fa-lā yukhaffafu ʿanhum wa-lā hum yunẓarūna

When the wrong-doers (actually) see the Penalty, then will it in no way be mitigated, nor will they then receive respite.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:21

ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَلَلْءَاخِرَةُ أَكْبَرُ دَرَجَٰتٍ وَأَكْبَرُ تَفْضِيلًا

inẓur kayfa faḍḍalnā baʿḍahum ʿalā baʿḍin wa-lal-ākhiratu akbaru darajātin wa-akbaru tafḍīlan

See how We have bestowed more on some than on others; but verily the Hereafter is more in rank and gradation and more in excellence.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:48

ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأَمْثَالَ فَضَلُّوا۟ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا

inẓur kayfa ḍarabū la-ka l-amthāla faḍallū fa-lā yastaṭīʿūna sabīlan

See what similes they strike for thee: but they have gone astray, and never can they find a way.
