Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(2:195)

And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.
(2:215)

They ask thee what they should spend (In charity). Say: Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, -Allah knoweth it well.
(2:254)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوٓا۟  أَنفِقُوا۟  مِمَّا  رَزَقْنَٰكُم  مِّن  قَبْلِ  أَن  يَأْتِىَ  يَوْمٌ  لَّا  بَيْعٌ  فِيهِ  وَلَا  خُلَّةٌ  وَلَا  شَفَٰعَةٌ  وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ  هُمُ  ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū anfiqū mimmā razaqnākum min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun bayʿun fīhi wa‑lā khullatun wa‑lā shafāʿatun wa‑l‑kāfirūna humu l‑ẓālimūna
O ye who believe! Spend out of (the bounties) We have provided for you, before the Day comes when no bargaining (Will avail), nor friendship nor intercession. Those who reject Faith they are the wrong-doers.
(2:267)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوٓا۟  أَنفِقُوا۟  مِن  طَيِّبَٰتِ  مَا  كَسَبْتُمْ  وَمِمَّآ  أَخْرَجْنَا  لَكُم  مِّنَ  ٱلْأَرْضِ  وَلَا  تَيَمَّمُوا۟  ٱلْخَبِيثَ  مِنْهُ  تُنفِقُونَ  وَلَسْتُم  بِـَٔاخِذِيهِ  إِلَّآ  أَن  تُغْمِضُوا۟  فِيهِ  وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟  أَنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  غَنِىٌّ  حَمِيدٌ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū anfiqū min ṭayyibāti kasabtum wa‑mimmā akhrajnā la‑kum mina l‑arḍi wa‑lā tayammamū l‑khabītha minhu tunfiqūna wa‑lastum bi‑ākhidhīhi illā an tughmiḍū fīhi waʿlamū annā allāha ghaniyyun ḥamīdun
O ye who believe! Give of the good things which ye have (honourably) earned, and of the fruits of the earth which We have produced for you, and do not even aim at getting anything which is bad, in order that out of it ye may give away something, when ye yourselves would not receive it except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of all wants, and worthy of all praise.
(2:270)

And whatever ye spend in charity or devotion, be sure Allah knows it all. But the wrong-doers have no helpers.
(2:272)

لَّيْسَ  عَلَيْكَ  هُدَىٰهُمْ  وَلَٰكِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  يَهْدِى  مَن  يَشَآءُ  وَمَا  تُنفِقُوا۟  مِنْ  خَيْرٍ  فَلِأَنفُسِكُمْ  وَمَا  تُنفِقُونَ  إِلَّا  ٱبْتِغَآءَ  وَجْهِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَمَا  تُنفِقُوا۟  مِنْ  خَيْرٍ  يُوَفَّ  إِلَيْكُمْ  وَأَنتُمْ  لَا  تُظْلَمُونَ laysa ʿalayka hudahum wa‑lākinna allāha yahdī man yashāʾu wa‑mā tunfiqū min khayrin fa‑li‑anfusikum wa‑mā tunfiqūna illā ibtighāʾa wajhi allāhi wa‑mā tunfiqū min khayrin yuwaffa ilaykum wa‑antum tuẓlamūna
It is not required of thee (O Messenger), to set them on the right path, but Allah sets on the right path whom He pleaseth. Whatever of good ye give benefits your own souls, and ye shall only do so seeking the "Face" of Allah. Whatever good ye give, shall be rendered back to you, and ye shall not Be dealt with unjustly.
(2:273)

لِلْفُقَرَآءِ  ٱلَّذِينَ  أُحْصِرُوا۟  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  لَا  يَسْتَطِيعُونَ  ضَرْبًا  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  يَحْسَبُهُمُ  ٱلْجَاهِلُ  أَغْنِيَآءَ  مِنَ  ٱلتَّعَفُّفِ  تَعْرِفُهُم  بِسِيمَٰهُمْ  لَا  يَسْـَٔلُونَ  ٱلنَّاسَ  إِلْحَافًا  وَمَا  تُنفِقُوا۟  مِنْ  خَيْرٍ  فَإِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  بِهِۦ  عَلِيمٌ lil‑fuqarāʾi lladhīna uḥṣirū sabīli allāhi yastaṭīʿūna ḍarban l‑arḍi yaḥsabuhumu l‑jāhilu aghniyāʾa mina l‑taʿaffufi taʿrifuhum bi‑sīmāhum yasʾalūna l‑nāsa ilḥāfan wa‑mā tunfiqū min khayrin fa‑inna allāha bihi ʿalīmun
(Charity is) for those in need, who, in Allah's cause are restricted (from travel), and cannot move about in the land, seeking (For trade or work): the ignorant man thinks, because of their modesty, that they are free from want. Thou shalt know them by their (Unfailing) mark: They beg not importunately from all the sundry. And whatever of good ye give, be assured Allah knoweth it well.

Surah 3 Āl-ʿImrān (The Family of Imran)
(3:92)

لَن  تَنَالُوا۟  ٱلْبِرَّ  حَتَّىٰ  تُنفِقُوا۟  مِمَّا  تُحِبُّونَ  وَمَا  تُنفِقُوا۟  مِن  شَىْءٍ  فَإِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  بِهِۦ  عَلِيمٌ lan tanālū l‑birra ḥattā tunfiqū mimmā tuḥibbūna wa‑mā tunfiqū min shayʾin fa‑inna allāha bihi ʿalīmun
By no means shall ye attain righteousness unless ye give (freely) of that which ye love; and whatever ye give, of a truth Allah knoweth it well.

Surah 8 al-Anfāl (The Spoils of War)
(8:60)

وَأَعِدُّوا۟  لَهُم  مَّا  ٱسْتَطَعْتُم  مِّن  قُوَّةٍ  وَمِن  رِّبَاطِ  ٱلْخَيْلِ  تُرْهِبُونَ  بِهِۦ  عَدُوَّ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَعَدُوَّكُمْ  وَءَاخَرِينَ  مِن  دُونِهِمْ  لَا  تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ  ٱللَّـهُ  يَعْلَمُهُمْ  وَمَا  تُنفِقُوا۟  مِن  شَىْءٍ  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  يُوَفَّ  إِلَيْكُمْ  وَأَنتُمْ  لَا  تُظْلَمُونَ waaʿiddū lahum istaṭaʿtum min quwwatin wa‑min rribāṭi l‑khayli turhibūna bihi ʿadūwa allāhi wa‑ʿaduwwakum wa‑ākharīna min dūnihim taʿlamūnahumu allāhu yaʿlamuhum wa‑mā tunfiqū min shayʾin sabīli allāhi yuwaffa ilaykum wa‑antum tuẓlamūna
Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
(8:63)

وَأَلَّفَ  بَيْنَ  قُلُوبِهِمْ  لَوْ  أَنفَقْتَ  مَا  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  جَمِيعًا  مَّآ  أَلَّفْتَ  بَيْنَ  قُلُوبِهِمْ  وَلَٰكِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  أَلَّفَ  بَيْنَهُمْ  إِنَّهُۥ  عَزِيزٌ  حَكِيمٌ wa‑allafa bayna qulūbihim law anfaqta l‑arḍi jamīʿan allafta bayna qulūbihim wa‑lākinna allāha allafa baynahum innahu ʿazīzun ḥakīmun
And (moreover) He hath put affection between their hearts: not if thou hadst spent all that is in the earth, couldst thou have produced that affection, but Allah hath done it: for He is Exalted in might, Wise.

Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance)
(9:53)

قُلْ  أَنفِقُوا۟  طَوْعًا  أَوْ  كَرْهًا  لَّن  يُتَقَبَّلَ  مِنكُمْ  إِنَّكُمْ  كُنتُمْ  قَوْمًا  فَٰسِقِينَ qul anfiqū ṭawʿan aw karhan lan yutaqabbala minkum innakum kuntum qawman fāsiqīna
Say: "Spend (for the cause) willingly or unwillingly: not from you will it be accepted: for ye are indeed a people rebellious and wicked."

Surah 34 Sabaʾ (Sheba)
(34:39)

قُلْ  إِنَّ  رَبِّى  يَبْسُطُ  ٱلرِّزْقَ  لِمَن  يَشَآءُ  مِنْ  عِبَادِهِۦ  وَيَقْدِرُ  لَهُۥ  وَمَآ  أَنفَقْتُم  مِّن  شَىْءٍ  فَهُوَ  يُخْلِفُهُۥ  وَهُوَ  خَيْرُ  ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ qul inna rabbī yabsuṭu l‑rizqa li‑man yashāʾu min ʿibādihi wa‑yaqdiru lahu wa‑mā anfaqtum min shayʾin fa‑huwa yukhlifuhu wa‑huwa khayru l‑rāziqīna
Say: "Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the Sustenance to such of his servants as He pleases: and nothing do ye spend in the least (in His cause) but He replaces it: for He is the Best of those who grant Sustenance.

Surah 36 Yā Sin (Ya Sin)
(36:47)

وَإِذَا  قِيلَ  لَهُمْ  أَنفِقُوا۟  مِمَّا  رَزَقَكُمُ  ٱللَّـهُ  قَالَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  لِلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوٓا۟  أَنُطْعِمُ  مَن  لَّوْ  يَشَآءُ  ٱللَّـهُ  أَطْعَمَهُۥٓ  إِنْ  أَنتُمْ  إِلَّا  فِى  ضَلَٰلٍ  مُّبِينٍ wa‑idhā qīla lahum anfiqū mimmā razaqakumu allāhu qalā lladhīna kafarū li‑lladhīna āmanū a‑nuṭʿimu man law yashāʾu allāhu aṭʿamahu in antum illā ḍalālin mubīnin
And when they are told, "Spend ye of (the bounties) with which Allah has provided you," the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Shall we then feed those whom, if Allah had so willed, He would have fed, (Himself)?- Ye are in nothing but manifest error."

Surah 47 Muḥammad (Muhammad)
(47:38)

هَٰٓأَنتُمْ  هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ  تُدْعَوْنَ  لِتُنفِقُوا۟  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  فَمِنكُم  مَّن  يَبْخَلُ  وَمَن  يَبْخَلْ  فَإِنَّمَا  يَبْخَلُ  عَن  نَّفْسِهِۦ  وَٱللَّـهُ  ٱلْغَنِىُّ  وَأَنتُمُ  ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ  وَإِن  تَتَوَلَّوْا۟  يَسْتَبْدِلْ  قَوْمًا  غَيْرَكُمْ  ثُمَّ  لَا  يَكُونُوٓا۟  أَمْثَٰلَكُم hā‑antum hāʾulāʾi tudʿawna li‑tunfiqū sabīli allāhi fa‑minkum man yabkhalu wa‑man yabkhal fa‑innamā yabkhalu ʿan nafsihi wallāhu l‑ghaniyyu wa‑antumu l‑fuqarāʾu wa‑in tatawallaw yastabdil qawman ghayrakum thumma yakūnū amthālakum
Behold, ye are those invited to spend (of your substance) in the Way of Allah: But among you are some that are niggardly. But any who are niggardly are so at the expense of their own souls. But Allah is free of all wants, and it is ye that are needy. If ye turn back (from the Path), He will substitute in your stead another people; then they would not be like you!

Surah 57 al-Ḥadīd (The Iron)
(57:7)

Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity),- for them is a great Reward.
(57:10)

وَمَا  لَكُمْ  أَلَّا  تُنفِقُوا۟  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَلِلَّەِ  مِيرَٰثُ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  لَا  يَسْتَوِى  مِنكُم  مَّنْ  أَنفَقَ  مِن  قَبْلِ  ٱلْفَتْحِ  وَقَٰتَلَ  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  أَعْظَمُ  دَرَجَةً  مِّنَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  أَنفَقُوا۟  مِنۢ  بَعْدُ  وَقَٰتَلُوا۟  وَكُلًّا  وَعَدَ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ  وَٱللَّـهُ  بِمَا  تَعْمَلُونَ  خَبِيرٌ wa‑mā la‑kum allā tunfiqū sabīli allāhi wa‑lillahi mīrāthu l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi yastawī minkum man anfaqa min qabli l‑fatḥi wa‑qātala ulāʾika aʿẓamu darajatan mina lladhīna anfaqū min baʿdu wa‑qātalū wa‑kullan waʿada allāhu l‑ḥusnā wallāhu bi‑mā taʿmalūna khabīrun
And what cause have ye why ye should not spend in the cause of Allah?- For to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth. Not equal among you are those who spent (freely) and fought, before the Victory, (with those who did so later). Those are higher in rank than those who spent (freely) and fought afterwards. But to all has Allah promised a goodly (reward). And Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

Surah 60 al-Mumtaḥanah (She Who is Tested)
(60:10)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوٓا۟  إِذَا  جَآءَكُمُ  ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ  مُهَٰجِرَٰتٍ  فَٱمْتَحِنُوهُنَّ  ٱللَّـهُ  أَعْلَمُ  بِإِيمَٰنِهِنَّ  فَإِنْ  عَلِمْتُمُوهُنَّ  مُؤْمِنَٰتٍ  فَلَا  تَرْجِعُوهُنَّ  إِلَى  ٱلْكُفَّارِ  لَا  هُنَّ  حِلٌّ  لَّهُمْ  وَلَا  هُمْ  يَحِلُّونَ  لَهُنَّ  وَءَاتُوهُم  مَّآ  أَنفَقُوا۟  وَلَا  جُنَاحَ  عَلَيْكُمْ  أَن  تَنكِحُوهُنَّ  إِذَآ  ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ  أُجُورَهُنَّ  وَلَا  تُمْسِكُوا۟  بِعِصَمِ  ٱلْكَوَافِرِ  وَسْـَٔلُوا۟  مَآ  أَنفَقْتُمْ  وَلْيَسْـَٔلُوا۟  مَآ  أَنفَقُوا۟  ذَٰلِكُمْ  حُكْمُ  ٱللَّـهِ  يَحْكُمُ  بَيْنَكُمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  عَلِيمٌ  حَكِيمٌ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā jāakumu l‑muʾminātu muhājirātin famtaḥinūhunna allāhu aʿlamu biīmānihinna fa‑in ʿalimtumūhunna muminatin fa‑lā tarjiʿūhunna ilā l‑kuffāri hunna ḥillun lahum wa‑lā hum yaḥillūna la‑hunna wa‑ātūhum anfaqū wa‑lā junāḥa ʿalaykum an tankiḥūhunna idhā ātaytumūhunna ujūrahunna wa‑lā tumsikū biʿiṣami l‑kawāfiri wa‑salū anfaqtum wa‑l‑yasʾalū anfaqū dhālikum ḥukmu allāhi yaḥkumu baynakum wallāhu ʿalīmun ḥakīmun
O ye who believe! When there come to you believing women refugees, examine (and test) them: Allah knows best as to their Faith: if ye ascertain that they are Believers, then send them not back to the Unbelievers. They are not lawful (wives) for the Unbelievers, nor are the (Unbelievers) lawful (husbands) for them. But pay the Unbelievers what they have spent (on their dower), and there will be no blame on you if ye marry them on payment of their dower to them. But hold not to the guardianship of unbelieving women: ask for what ye have spent on their dowers, and let the (Unbelievers) ask for what they have spent (on the dowers of women who come over to you). Such is the command of Allah: He judges (with justice) between you. And Allah is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

Surah 63 al-Munāfiqūn (The Hypocrites)
(63:7)

هُمُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يَقُولُونَ  لَا  تُنفِقُوا۟  عَلَىٰ  مَنْ  عِندَ  رَسُولِ  ٱللَّـهِ  حَتَّىٰ  يَنفَضُّوا۟  وَلِلَّەِ  خَزَآئِنُ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  وَلَٰكِنَّ  ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ  لَا  يَفْقَهُونَ humu lladhīna yaqūlūna tunfiqū ʿalā man ʿinda rasūli allāhi ḥattā yanfaḍḍū wa‑lillahi khazāʾinu l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi wa‑lākinna l‑munāfiqīna yafqahūna
They are the ones who say, "Spend nothing on those who are with Allah's Messenger, to the end that they may disperse (and quit Medina)." But to Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth; but the Hypocrites understand not.
(63:10)

وَأَنفِقُوا۟  مِن  مَّا  رَزَقْنَٰكُم  مِّن  قَبْلِ  أَن  يَأْتِىَ  أَحَدَكُمُ  ٱلْمَوْتُ  فَيَقُولَ  رَبِّ  لَوْلَآ  أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ  إِلَىٰٓ  أَجَلٍ  قَرِيبٍ  فَأَصَّدَّقَ  وَأَكُن  مِّنَ  ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ wa‑anfiqū min razaqnākum min qabli an yaʾtiya aḥadakumu l‑mawtu fa‑yaqūla rabbi lawlā akhkhartanī ila ajalin qarībin fa‑aṣṣaddaqa wa‑akun mina l‑ṣāliḥīna
and spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should say, "O my Lord! why didst Thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good".

Surah 64 al-Taghābun (The Cheating)
(64:16)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  مَا  ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ  وَٱسْمَعُوا۟  وَأَطِيعُوا۟  وَأَنفِقُوا۟  خَيْرًا  لِّأَنفُسِكُمْ  وَمَن  يُوقَ  شُحَّ  نَفْسِهِۦ  فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  هُمُ  ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ fa‑ittaqū allāha istaṭaʿtum wa‑ismaʿū wa‑aṭīʿū wa‑anfiqū khayran llianfusikum wa‑man yūqa sḥuḥḥa nafsihi fa‑ūlāʾika humu l‑mufliḥūna
So fear Allah as much as ye can; listen and obey and spend in charity for the benefit of your own soul and those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.

Surah 65 al-Ṭalāq (The Divorce)
(65:6)

أَسْكِنُوهُنَّ  مِنْ  حَيْثُ  سَكَنتُم  مِّن  وُجْدِكُمْ  وَلَا  تُضَآرُّوهُنَّ  لِتُضَيِّقُوا۟  عَلَيْهِنَّ  وَإِن  كُنَّ  أُو۟لَٰتِ  حَمْلٍ  فَأَنفِقُوا۟  عَلَيْهِنَّ  حَتَّىٰ  يَضَعْنَ  حَمْلَهُنَّ  فَإِنْ  أَرْضَعْنَ  لَكُمْ  فَـَٔاتُوهُنَّ  أُجُورَهُنَّ  وَأْتَمِرُوا۟  بَيْنَكُم  بِمَعْرُوفٍ  وَإِن  تَعَاسَرْتُمْ  فَسَتُرْضِعُ  لَهُۥٓ  أُخْرَىٰ askinūhunna min ḥaythu sakantum min wujdikum wa‑lā tuḍārrūhunna li‑tuḍayyiqū ʿalayhinna wa‑in kunna ūlāti ḥamlin faanfiqū ʿalayhinna ḥattā yaḍaʿna ḥamlahunna fa‑in arḍaʿna la‑kum fa‑ātūhunna ujūrahunna wa‑tamirū baynakum bi‑maʿrūfin wa‑in taʿāsartum fa‑sa‑turḍiʿu lahu ukhrā
Let the women live (in 'iddat) in the same style as ye live, according to your means: Annoy them not, so as to restrict them. And if they carry (life in their wombs), then spend (your substance) on them until they deliver their burden: and if they suckle your (offspring), give them their recompense: and take mutual counsel together, according to what is just and reasonable. And if ye find yourselves in difficulties, let another woman suckle (the child) on the (father's) behalf.
