Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(2:3)

Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;
(2:215)

They ask thee what they should spend (In charity). Say: Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, -Allah knoweth it well.
(2:219)

They ask thee concerning wine and gambling. Say: "In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit." They ask thee how much they are to spend; Say: "What is beyond your needs." Thus doth Allah Make clear to you His Signs: In order that ye may consider-
(2:261)

مَّثَلُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يُنفِقُونَ  أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  كَمَثَلِ  حَبَّةٍ  أَنۢبَتَتْ  سَبْعَ  سَنَابِلَ  فِى  كُلِّ  سُنۢبُلَةٍ  مِّا۟ئَةُ  حَبَّةٍ  وَٱللَّـهُ  يُضَٰعِفُ  لِمَن  يَشَآءُ  وَٱللَّـهُ  وَٰسِعٌ  عَلِيمٌ mathalu lladhīna yunfiqūna amwālahum sabīli allāhi ka‑mathali ḥabbatin anbatat sabʿa sanābila kulli sunbulatin miatu ḥabbatin wallāhu yuḍāʿifu li‑man yashāʾu wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun
The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.
(2:262)

Those who spend their substance in the cause of Allah, and follow not up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury,-for them their reward is with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
(2:264)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  لَا  تُبْطِلُوا۟  صَدَقَٰتِكُم  بِٱلْمَنِّ  وَٱلْأَذَىٰ  كَٱلَّذِى  يُنفِقُ  مَالَهُۥ  رِئَآءَ  ٱلنَّاسِ  وَلَا  يُؤْمِنُ  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَٱلْيَوْمِ  ٱلْأَخِرِ  فَمَثَلُهُۥ  كَمَثَلِ  صَفْوَانٍ  عَلَيْهِ  تُرَابٌ  فَأَصَابَهُۥ  وَابِلٌ  فَتَرَكَهُۥ  صَلْدًا  لَّا  يَقْدِرُونَ  عَلَىٰ  شَىْءٍ  مِّمَّا  كَسَبُوا۟  وَٱللَّـهُ  لَا  يَهْدِى  ٱلْقَوْمَ  ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū tubṭilū ṣadaqātikum bil‑manni wa‑l‑adha ka‑lladhī yunfiqu mālahu riʾāʾa l‑nāsi wa‑lā yuʾminū billāhi wa‑l‑yawmi l‑akhiri fa‑mathaluhu ka‑mathali ṣafwānin ʿalayhi turābun fa‑aṣābahu wābilun fa‑tarakahu ṣaldan yaqdirūna ʿalā shayʾin mimmā kasabū wallāhu yahdī l‑qawma l‑kāfirīna
O ye who believe! cancel not your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury,- like those who spend their substance to be seen of men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day. They are in parable like a hard, barren rock, on which is a little soil: on it falls heavy rain, which leaves it (Just) a bare stone. They will be able to do nothing with aught they have earned. And Allah guideth not those who reject faith.
(2:265)

وَمَثَلُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يُنفِقُونَ  أَمْوَٰلَهُمُ  ٱبْتِغَآءَ  مَرْضَاتِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَتَثْبِيتًا  مِّنْ  أَنفُسِهِمْ  كَمَثَلِ  جَنَّةٍۭ  بِرَبْوَةٍ  أَصَابَهَا  وَابِلٌ  فَـَٔاتَتْ  أُكُلَهَا  ضِعْفَيْنِ  فَإِن  لَّمْ  يُصِبْهَا  وَابِلٌ  فَطَلٌّ  وَٱللَّـهُ  بِمَا  تَعْمَلُونَ  بَصِيرٌ wa‑mathalu lladhīna yunfiqūna amwālahumu ibtighāʾa marḍāti allāhi wa‑tathbītan min anfusihim ka‑mathali jannatin bi‑rabwatin aṣābahā wābilun fa‑ātat ukulahā ḍiʿfayni fa‑in lam yuṣibhā wābilun fa‑ṭallun wallāhu bi‑mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun
And the likeness of those who spend their substance, seeking to please Allah and to strengthen their souls, is as a garden, high and fertile: heavy rain falls on it but makes it yield a double increase of harvest, and if it receives not Heavy rain, light moisture sufficeth it. Allah seeth well whatever ye do.
(2:274)

Those who (in charity) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

Surah 3 Āl-ʿImrān (The Family of Imran)
(3:117)

What they spend in the life of this (material) world May be likened to a wind which brings a nipping frost: It strikes and destroys the harvest of men who have wronged their own souls: it is not Allah that hath wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
(3:134)

ٱلَّذِينَ  يُنفِقُونَ  فِى  ٱلسَّرَّآءِ  وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ  وَٱلْكَٰظِمِينَ  ٱلْغَيْظَ  وَٱلْعَافِينَ  عَنِ  ٱلنَّاسِ  وَٱللَّـهُ  يُحِبُّ  ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ lladhīna yunfiqūna l‑sarrāi wa‑l‑ḍarrāʾi wa‑l‑kāẓimīna l‑ghayẓa wa‑l‑ʿāfīna ʿani l‑nāsi wallāhu yuḥibbu l‑muḥsinīna
Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men;- for Allah loves those who do good;-
(3:167)

وَلِيَعْلَمَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  نَافَقُوا۟  وَقِيلَ  لَهُمْ  تَعَالَوْا۟  قَٰتِلُوا۟  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  أَوِ  ٱدْفَعُوا۟  قَالُوا۟  لَوْ  نَعْلَمُ  قِتَالًا  لَّٱتَّبَعْنَٰكُمْ  هُمْ  لِلْكُفْرِ  يَوْمَئِذٍ  أَقْرَبُ  مِنْهُمْ  لِلْإِيمَٰنِ  يَقُولُونَ  بِأَفْوَٰهِهِم  مَّا  لَيْسَ  فِى  قُلُوبِهِمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  أَعْلَمُ  بِمَا  يَكْتُمُونَ wa‑li‑yaʿlama lladhīna nāfaqū waqīla lahum taʿālaw qātilū sabīli allāhi awi adfaʿū qālū law naʿlamu qitālan llattabaʿnākum hum lil‑kufri yawmaʾidhin aqrabu minhum lil‑īmāni yaqūlūna biafwāhihim laysa qulūbihim wallāhu aʿlamu bi‑mā yaktumūna
And the Hypocrites also. These were told: "Come, fight in the way of Allah, or (at least) drive (The foe from your city)." They said: "Had we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." They were that day nearer to Unbelief than to Faith, saying with their lips what was not in their hearts but Allah hath full knowledge of all they conceal.

Surah 4 al-Nisāʾ (The Women)
(4:34)

ٱلرِّجَالُ  قَوَّٰمُونَ  عَلَى  ٱلنِّسَآءِ  بِمَا  فَضَّلَ  ٱللَّـهُ  بَعْضَهُمْ  عَلَىٰ  بَعْضٍ  وَبِمَآ  أَنفَقُوا۟  مِنْ  أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ  فَٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ  قَٰنِتَٰتٌ  حَٰفِظَٰتٌ  لِّلْغَيْبِ  بِمَا  حَفِظَ  ٱللَّـهُ  وَٱلَّٰتِى  تَخَافُونَ  نُشُوزَهُنَّ  فَعِظُوهُنَّ  وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ  فِى  ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ  وَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّ  فَإِنْ  أَطَعْنَكُمْ  فَلَا  تَبْغُوا۟  عَلَيْهِنَّ  سَبِيلًا  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  كَانَ  عَلِيًّا  كَبِيرًا l‑rijālu qawwāmūna ʿalā l‑nisāʾi bi‑mā faḍḍala allāhu baʿḍahum ʿalā baʿḍin wa‑bimā anfaqū min amwālihim fa‑l‑ṣāliḥātu qānitātun ḥāfiẓātun lil‑ghaybi bi‑mā ḥafiẓa allāhu wallātī takhāfūna nushūzahunna faʿiẓūhunna wa‑ahjurūhunna l‑maḍājiʿi wa‑aḍribūhunna fa‑in aṭaʿnakum fa‑lā tabghū ʿalayhinna sabīlan inna allāha kāna ʿaliyyan kabīran
Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).
(4:38)

وَٱلَّذِينَ  يُنفِقُونَ  أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ  رِئَآءَ  ٱلنَّاسِ  وَلَا  يُؤْمِنُونَ  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَلَا  بِٱلْيَوْمِ  ٱلْأَخِرِ  وَمَن  يَكُنِ  ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ  لَهُۥ  قَرِينًا  فَسَآءَ  قَرِينًا wa‑lladhīna yunfiqūna amwālahum riʾāʾa l‑nāsi wa‑lā yuʾminūna billāhi wa‑lā bil‑yawmi l‑akhiri wa‑man yakuni l‑shayṭānu lahu qarīnan fa‑sāʾa qarīnan
Not those who spend of their substance, to be seen of men, but have no faith in Allah and the Last Day: If any take the Evil One for their intimate, what a dreadful intimate he is!
(4:39)

And what burden Were it on them if they had faith in Allah and in the Last Day, and they spent out of what Allah hath given them for sustenance? For Allah hath full knowledge of them.

Surah 5 al-Māʾidah (The Table Spread)
(5:64)

وَقَالَتِ  ٱلْيَهُودُ  يَدُ  ٱللَّـهِ  مَغْلُولَةٌ  غُلَّتْ  أَيْدِيهِمْ  وَلُعِنُوا۟  بِمَا  قَالُوا۟  بَلْ  يَدَاهُ  مَبْسُوطَتَانِ  يُنفِقُ  كَيْفَ  يَشَآءُ  وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ  كَثِيرًا  مِّنْهُم  مَّآ  أُنزِلَ  إِلَيْكَ  مِن  رَّبِّكَ  طُغْيَٰنًا  وَكُفْرًا  وَأَلْقَيْنَا  بَيْنَهُمُ  ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ  وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ  إِلَىٰ  يَوْمِ  ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ  كُلَّمَآ  أَوْقَدُوا۟  نَارًا  لِّلْحَرْبِ  أَطْفَأَهَا  ٱللَّـهُ  وَيَسْعَوْنَ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  فَسَادًا  وَٱللَّـهُ  لَا  يُحِبُّ  ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ waqālati l‑yahūdu yadu allāhi maghlūlatun ghullat aydīhim wa‑luʿinū bi‑mā qālū bal yadāhu mabsūṭatāni yunfiqu kayfa yashāʾu wa‑la‑yazīdanna kathīran minhum unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭughyānan wa‑kufran wa‑l‑qaynā baynahumu l‑ʿadāwata wa‑l‑baghḍāʾa ilā yawmi l‑qiyāmati kullamā awqadū nāran lil‑ḥarbi aṭfaʾahā allāhu wa‑yasʿawna l‑arḍi fasādan wallāhu yuḥibbu l‑mufsidīna
The Jews say: "Allah's hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

Surah 8 al-Anfāl (The Spoils of War)
(8:3)

Who establish regular prayers and spend (freely) out of the gifts We have given them for sustenance:
(8:36)

إِنَّ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  يُنفِقُونَ  أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ  لِيَصُدُّوا۟  عَن  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا  ثُمَّ  تَكُونُ  عَلَيْهِمْ  حَسْرَةً  ثُمَّ  يُغْلَبُونَ  وَٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوٓا۟  إِلَىٰ  جَهَنَّمَ  يُحْشَرُونَ inna lladhīna kafarū yunfiqūna amwālahum li‑yaṣuddū ʿan sabīli allāhi fa‑sa‑yunfiqūnahā thumma takūnu ʿalayhim ḥasratan thumma yughlabūna wa‑lladhīna kafarū ilā jahannama yuḥsharūna
The Unbelievers spend their wealth to hinder (man) from the path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend; but in the end they will have (only) regrets and sighs; at length they will be overcome: and the Unbelievers will be gathered together to Hell;-

Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance)
(9:34)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوٓا۟  إِنَّ  كَثِيرًا  مِّنَ  ٱلْأَحْبَارِ  وَٱلرُّهْبَانِ  لَيَأْكُلُونَ  أَمْوَٰلَ  ٱلنَّاسِ  بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ  وَيَصُدُّونَ  عَن  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَٱلَّذِينَ  يَكْنِزُونَ  ٱلذَّهَبَ  وَٱلْفِضَّةَ  وَلَا  يُنفِقُونَهَا  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  فَبَشِّرْهُم  بِعَذَابٍ  أَلِيمٍ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū inna kathīran mina l‑aḥbāri wa‑l‑ruhbāni la‑yaʾkulūna amwāla l‑nāsi bil‑bāṭili wa‑yaṣuddūna ʿan sabīli allāhi wa‑lladhīna yaknizūna l‑dhahaba wa‑l‑fiḍḍata wa‑lā yunfiqūnahā sabīli allāhi fa‑bashshirhum bi‑ʿadhābin alīmin
O ye who believe! there are indeed many among the priests and anchorites, who in Falsehood devour the substance of men and hinder (them) from the way of Allah. And there are those who bury gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah: announce unto them a most grievous penalty-
(9:54)

وَمَا  مَنَعَهُمْ  أَن  تُقْبَلَ  مِنْهُمْ  نَفَقَٰتُهُمْ  إِلَّآ  أَنَّهُمْ  كَفَرُوا۟  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ  وَلَا  يَأْتُونَ  ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ  إِلَّا  وَهُمْ  كُسَالَىٰ  وَلَا  يُنفِقُونَ  إِلَّا  وَهُمْ  كَٰرِهُونَ wa‑mā manaʿahum an tuqbala minhum nafaqātuhum illā annahum kafarū billāhi wa‑birasūlihi wa‑lā yaʾtūna l‑ṣalāta illā wa‑hum kusāla wa‑lā yunfiqūna illā wa‑hum kārihūna
The only reasons why their contributions are not accepted are: that they reject Allah and His Messenger; that they come to prayer without earnestness; and that they offer contributions unwillingly.
(9:91)

لَّيْسَ  عَلَى  ٱلضُّعَفَآءِ  وَلَا  عَلَى  ٱلْمَرْضَىٰ  وَلَا  عَلَى  ٱلَّذِينَ  لَا  يَجِدُونَ  مَا  يُنفِقُونَ  حَرَجٌ  إِذَا  نَصَحُوا۟  لِلَّـهِ  وَرَسُولِهِۦ  مَا  عَلَى  ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ  مِن  سَبِيلٍ  وَٱللَّـهُ  غَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ laysa ʿalā l‑ḍuʿafāʾi wa‑lā ʿalā l‑marḍā wa‑lā ʿalā lladhīna yajidūna yunfiqūna ḥarajun idhā naṣaḥū lillāhi wa‑rasūlihi ʿalā l‑muḥsinīna min sabīlin wallāhu ghafūrun raḥīmun
There is no blame on those who are infirm, or ill, or who find no resources to spend (on the cause), if they are sincere (in duty) to Allah and His Messenger: no ground (of complaint) can there be against such as do right: and Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
(9:92)

وَلَا  عَلَى  ٱلَّذِينَ  إِذَا  مَآ  أَتَوْكَ  لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ  قُلْتَ  لَآ  أَجِدُ  مَآ  أَحْمِلُكُمْ  عَلَيْهِ  تَوَلَّوا۟  وَّأَعْيُنُهُمْ  تَفِيضُ  مِنَ  ٱلدَّمْعِ  حَزَنًا  أَلَّا  يَجِدُوا۟  مَا  يُنفِقُونَ wa‑lā ʿalā lladhīna idhā atawka li‑taḥmilahum qulta ajidu aḥmilukum ʿalayhi tawallaw wwa‑aʿyunuhum tafīḍu mina l‑damʿi ḥazanan allā yajidū yunfiqūna
Nor (is there blame) on those who came to thee to be provided with mounts, and when thou saidst, "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, their eyes streaming with tears of grief that they had no resources wherewith to provide the expenses.
(9:98)

وَمِنَ  ٱلْأَعْرَابِ  مَن  يَتَّخِذُ  مَا  يُنفِقُ  مَغْرَمًا  وَيَتَرَبَّصُ  بِكُمُ  ٱلدَّوَآئِرَ  عَلَيْهِمْ  دَآئِرَةُ  ٱلسَّوْءِ  وَٱللَّـهُ  سَمِيعٌ  عَلِيمٌ wa‑mina l‑aʿrābi man yattakhidhu yunfiqu maghraman wa‑yatarabbaṣu bikumu l‑dawāʾira ʿalayhim dāʾiratu l‑sawʾi wallāhu samīʿun ʿalīmun
Some of the desert Arabs look upon their payments as a fine, and watch for disasters for you: on them be the disaster of evil: for Allah is He That heareth and knoweth (all things).
(9:99)

وَمِنَ  ٱلْأَعْرَابِ  مَن  يُؤْمِنُ  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَٱلْيَوْمِ  ٱلْأَخِرِ  وَيَتَّخِذُ  مَا  يُنفِقُ  قُرُبَٰتٍ  عِندَ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَصَلَوَٰتِ  ٱلرَّسُولِ  أَلَآ  إِنَّهَا  قُرْبَةٌ  لَّهُمْ  سَيُدْخِلُهُمُ  ٱللَّـهُ  فِى  رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  غَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ wa‑mina l‑aʿrābi man yuʾminū billāhi wa‑l‑yawmi l‑akhiri wa‑yattakhidhu yunfiqu qurubātin ʿinda allāhi wa‑ṣalawāti l‑rasūli āla innahā qurbatun lahum sa‑yudkhiluhumu allāhu raḥmatihi inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun
But some of the desert Arabs believe in Allah and the Last Day, and look on their payments as pious gifts bringing them nearer to Allah and obtaining the prayers of the Messenger. Aye, indeed they bring them nearer (to Him): soon will Allah admit them to His Mercy: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
(9:121)

Nor could they spend anything (for the cause) - small or great- nor cut across a valley, but the deed is inscribed to their credit: that Allah may requite their deed with the best (possible reward).

Surah 13 al-Raʿd (The Thunder)
(13:22)

وَٱلَّذِينَ  صَبَرُوا۟  ٱبْتِغَآءَ  وَجْهِ  رَبِّهِمْ  وَأَقَامُوا۟  ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ  وَأَنفَقُوا۟  مِمَّا  رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ  سِرًّا  وَعَلَانِيَةً  وَيَدْرَءُونَ  بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ  ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  لَهُمْ  عُقْبَى  ٱلدَّارِ wa‑lladhīna ṣabarū ibtighāʾa wajhi rabbihim wa‑aqāmū l‑ṣalāta wa‑anfaqū mimmā razaqnāhum sirran wa‑ʿalāniyatan wa‑yadraʾūna bil‑ḥasanati l‑sayyiata ulāʾika lahum ʿuqba l‑dāri
Those who patiently persevere, seeking the countenance of their Lord; Establish regular prayers; spend, out of (the gifts) We have bestowed for their sustenance, secretly and openly; and turn off Evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (eternal) home,-

Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham)
(14:31)

قُل  لِّعِبَادِىَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  يُقِيمُوا۟  ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ  وَيُنفِقُوا۟  مِمَّا  رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ  سِرًّا  وَعَلَانِيَةً  مِّن  قَبْلِ  أَن  يَأْتِىَ  يَوْمٌ  لَّا  بَيْعٌ  فِيهِ  وَلَا  خِلَٰلٌ qul li‑ʿibādiya lladhīna āmanū yuqīmū l‑ṣalāta wa‑yunfiqū mimmā razaqnāhum sirran wa‑ʿalāniyatan min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun bayʿun fīhi wa‑lā khilālun
Speak to my servants who have believed, that they may establish regular prayers, and spend (in charity) out of the sustenance we have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day in which there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending.

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:75)

ضَرَبَ  ٱللَّـهُ  مَثَلًا  عَبْدًا  مَّمْلُوكًا  لَّا  يَقْدِرُ  عَلَىٰ  شَىْءٍ  وَمَن  رَّزَقْنَٰهُ  مِنَّا  رِزْقًا  حَسَنًا  فَهُوَ  يُنفِقُ  مِنْهُ  سِرًّا  وَجَهْرًا  هَلْ  يَسْتَوُۥنَ  ٱلْحَمْدُ  لِلَّـهِ  بَلْ  أَكْثَرُهُمْ  لَا  يَعْلَمُونَ ḍaraba allāhu mathalan ʿabdan mamlūkan yaqdiru ʿalā shayʾin wa‑man rrazaqnāhu minnā rizqan ḥasanan fa‑huwa yunfiqu minhu sirran wa‑jahran hal yastawuna l‑ḥamdu lillāhi bal aktharuhum yaʿlamūna
Allah sets forth the Parable (of two men: one) a slave under the dominion of another; He has no power of any sort; and (the other) a man on whom We have bestowed goodly favours from Ourselves, and he spends thereof (freely), privately and publicly: are the two equal? (By no means;) praise be to Allah. But most of them understand not.

Surah 18 al-Kahf (The Cave)
(18:42)

So his fruits (and enjoyment) were encompassed (with ruin), and he remained twisting and turning his hands over what he had spent on his property, which had (now) tumbled to pieces to its very foundations, and he could only say, "Woe is me! Would I had never ascribed partners to my Lord and Cherisher!"

Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage)
(22:35)

To those whose hearts when Allah is mentioned, are filled with fear, who show patient perseverance over their afflictions, keep up regular prayer, and spend (in charity) out of what We have bestowed upon them.

Surah 25 al-Furqān (The Criterion)
(25:67)

Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);

Surah 28 al-Qaṣaṣ (The Narrative)
(28:54)

Twice will they be given their reward, for that they have persevered, that they avert Evil with Good, and that they spend (in charity) out of what We have given them.

Surah 32 al-Sajdah (The Adoration)
(32:16)

تَتَجَافَىٰ  جُنُوبُهُمْ  عَنِ  ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ  يَدْعُونَ  رَبَّهُمْ  خَوْفًا  وَطَمَعًا  وَمِمَّا  رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ  يُنفِقُونَ tatajāfa junūbuhum ʿani l‑maḍājiʿi yadʿūna rabbahum khawfan wa‑ṭamaʿan wa‑mimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūna
Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them.

Surah 35 al-Faṭīr (The Creator)
(35:29)

Those who rehearse the Book of Allah, establish regular Prayer, and spend (in Charity) out of what We have provided for them, secretly and openly, hope for a commerce that will never fail:

Surah 42 al-Shūrā (The Counsel)
(42:38)

Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance;

Surah 57 al-Ḥadīd (The Iron)
(57:7)

Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity),- for them is a great Reward.
(57:10)

وَمَا  لَكُمْ  أَلَّا  تُنفِقُوا۟  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَلِلَّەِ  مِيرَٰثُ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  لَا  يَسْتَوِى  مِنكُم  مَّنْ  أَنفَقَ  مِن  قَبْلِ  ٱلْفَتْحِ  وَقَٰتَلَ  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  أَعْظَمُ  دَرَجَةً  مِّنَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  أَنفَقُوا۟  مِنۢ  بَعْدُ  وَقَٰتَلُوا۟  وَكُلًّا  وَعَدَ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ  وَٱللَّـهُ  بِمَا  تَعْمَلُونَ  خَبِيرٌ wa‑mā la‑kum allā tunfiqū sabīli allāhi wa‑lillahi mīrāthu l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi yastawī minkum man anfaqa min qabli l‑fatḥi wa‑qātala ulāʾika aʿẓamu darajatan mina lladhīna anfaqū min baʿdu wa‑qātalū wa‑kullan waʿada allāhu l‑ḥusnā wallāhu bi‑mā taʿmalūna khabīrun
And what cause have ye why ye should not spend in the cause of Allah?- For to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth. Not equal among you are those who spent (freely) and fought, before the Victory, (with those who did so later). Those are higher in rank than those who spent (freely) and fought afterwards. But to all has Allah promised a goodly (reward). And Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

Surah 59 al-Ḥashr (The Exile)
(59:11)

أَلَمْ  تَرَ  إِلَى  ٱلَّذِينَ  نَافَقُوا۟  يَقُولُونَ  لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  مِنْ  أَهْلِ  ٱلْكِتَٰبِ  لَئِنْ  أُخْرِجْتُمْ  لَنَخْرُجَنَّ  مَعَكُمْ  وَلَا  نُطِيعُ  فِيكُمْ  أَحَدًا  أَبَدًا  وَإِن  قُوتِلْتُمْ  لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  يَشْهَدُ  إِنَّهُمْ  لَكَٰذِبُونَ a‑lam tara ilā lladhīna nāfaqū yaqūlūna liikhwānihimu lladhīna kafarū min ahli l‑kitābi lain ukhrijtum lanakhrujanna maʿakum wa‑lā nuṭīʿu fīkum aḥadan abadan wa‑in qūtiltum lananṣurannakum wallāhu yashhadu innahum la‑kādhibūna
Hast thou not observed the Hypocrites say to their misbelieving brethren among the People of the Book? - "If ye are expelled, we too will go out with you, and we will never hearken to any one in your affair; and if ye are attacked (in fight) we will help you". But Allah is witness that they are indeed liars.

Surah 60 al-Mumtaḥanah (She Who is Tested)
(60:10)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوٓا۟  إِذَا  جَآءَكُمُ  ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ  مُهَٰجِرَٰتٍ  فَٱمْتَحِنُوهُنَّ  ٱللَّـهُ  أَعْلَمُ  بِإِيمَٰنِهِنَّ  فَإِنْ  عَلِمْتُمُوهُنَّ  مُؤْمِنَٰتٍ  فَلَا  تَرْجِعُوهُنَّ  إِلَى  ٱلْكُفَّارِ  لَا  هُنَّ  حِلٌّ  لَّهُمْ  وَلَا  هُمْ  يَحِلُّونَ  لَهُنَّ  وَءَاتُوهُم  مَّآ  أَنفَقُوا۟  وَلَا  جُنَاحَ  عَلَيْكُمْ  أَن  تَنكِحُوهُنَّ  إِذَآ  ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ  أُجُورَهُنَّ  وَلَا  تُمْسِكُوا۟  بِعِصَمِ  ٱلْكَوَافِرِ  وَسْـَٔلُوا۟  مَآ  أَنفَقْتُمْ  وَلْيَسْـَٔلُوا۟  مَآ  أَنفَقُوا۟  ذَٰلِكُمْ  حُكْمُ  ٱللَّـهِ  يَحْكُمُ  بَيْنَكُمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  عَلِيمٌ  حَكِيمٌ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā jāakumu l‑muʾminātu muhājirātin famtaḥinūhunna allāhu aʿlamu biīmānihinna fa‑in ʿalimtumūhunna muminatin fa‑lā tarjiʿūhunna ilā l‑kuffāri hunna ḥillun lahum wa‑lā hum yaḥillūna la‑hunna wa‑ātūhum anfaqū wa‑lā junāḥa ʿalaykum an tankiḥūhunna idhā ātaytumūhunna ujūrahunna wa‑lā tumsikū biʿiṣami l‑kawāfiri wa‑salū anfaqtum wa‑l‑yasʾalū anfaqū dhālikum ḥukmu allāhi yaḥkumu baynakum wallāhu ʿalīmun ḥakīmun
O ye who believe! When there come to you believing women refugees, examine (and test) them: Allah knows best as to their Faith: if ye ascertain that they are Believers, then send them not back to the Unbelievers. They are not lawful (wives) for the Unbelievers, nor are the (Unbelievers) lawful (husbands) for them. But pay the Unbelievers what they have spent (on their dower), and there will be no blame on you if ye marry them on payment of their dower to them. But hold not to the guardianship of unbelieving women: ask for what ye have spent on their dowers, and let the (Unbelievers) ask for what they have spent (on the dowers of women who come over to you). Such is the command of Allah: He judges (with justice) between you. And Allah is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom.
(60:11)

وَإِن  فَاتَكُمْ  شَىْءٌ  مِّنْ  أَزْوَٰجِكُمْ  إِلَى  ٱلْكُفَّارِ  فَعَاقَبْتُمْ  فَـَٔاتُوا۟  ٱلَّذِينَ  ذَهَبَتْ  أَزْوَٰجُهُم  مِّثْلَ  مَآ  أَنفَقُوا۟  وَٱتَّقُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  ٱلَّذِىٓ  أَنتُم  بِهِۦ  مُؤْمِنُونَ wa‑in fātakum shayʾun min azwājikum ilā l‑kuffāri fa‑ʿāqabtum fa‑ātū lladhīna dhahabat azwājuhum mithla anfaqū wattaqū allāha alladhī antum bihi muʾminūna
And if any of your wives deserts you to the Unbelievers, and ye have an accession (by the coming over of a woman from the other side), then pay to those whose wives have deserted the equivalent of what they had spent (on their dower). And fear Allah, in Whom ye believe.

Surah 65 al-Ṭalāq (The Divorce)
(65:7)

لِيُنفِقْ  ذُو  سَعَةٍ  مِّن  سَعَتِهِۦ  وَمَن  قُدِرَ  عَلَيْهِ  رِزْقُهُۥ  فَلْيُنفِقْ  مِمَّآ  ءَاتَىٰهُ  ٱللَّـهُ  لَا  يُكَلِّفُ  ٱللَّـهُ  نَفْسًا  إِلَّا  مَآ  ءَاتَىٰهَا  سَيَجْعَلُ  ٱللَّـهُ  بَعْدَ  عُسْرٍ  يُسْرًا li‑yunfiq dhū saʿatin min saʿatihi wa‑man qudira ʿalayhi rizquhu falyunfiq mimmā ātahu allāhu yukallifu allāhu nafsan illā ātahā sa‑yajʿalu allāhu baʿda ʿusrin yusran
Let the man of means spend according to his means: and the man whose resources are restricted, let him spend according to what Allah has given him. Allah puts no burden on any person beyond what He has given him. After a difficulty, Allah will soon grant relief.
