Sura al-Baqara 2:218

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

inna lladhīna āmanū wa-lladhīna hājarū wa-jāhadū fī sabīli allāhi ulāʾika yarjūna raḥmata allāhi wallāhu ghafūrun raḥīmun

Those who believed and those who suffered exile and fought (and strove and struggled) in the path of Allah,- they have the hope of the Mercy of Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:195

فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ أَنِّى لَآ أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَٰمِلٍ مِّنكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ فَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ وَأُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمْ وَأُوذُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِى وَقَٰتَلُوا۟ وَقُتِلُوا۟ لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ثَوَابًا مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسْنُ ٱلثَّوَابِ

fa-istajāba lahum rabbuhum annī lā uḍīʿu ʿamala ʿāmilin minkum min dhakarin aw unthā baʿḍukum min baʿḍin fa-lladhīna hājarū wa-ukhrijū min diyārihim wa-ūdhū fī sabīlī wa-qātalū wa-qutilū la-ukaffiranna ʿanhum sayyiʾātihim wa-la-udkhilannahum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru thawāban min ʿindi allāhi wallāhu ʿindahu ḥusnu l-thawābi

And their Lord hath accepted of them, and answered them: "Never will I suffer to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female: Ye are members, one of another: Those who have left their homes, or been driven out therefrom, or suffered harm in My Cause, or fought or been slain,- verily, I will blot out from them their iniquities, and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath;- A reward from the presence of Allah, and from His presence is the best of rewards."

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:34

ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّـهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنْ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ فَٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ قَٰنِتَٰتٌ حَٰفِظَٰتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱلَّٰتِى تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ وَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا

l-rijālu qawwāmūna ʿalā l-nisāʾi bi-mā faḍḍala allāhu baʿḍahum ʿalā baʿḍin wa-bimā anfaqū min amwālihim fa-l-ṣāliḥātu qānitātun ḥāfiẓātun lil-ghaybi bi-mā ḥafiẓa allāhu wallātī takhāfūna nushūzahunna faʿiẓūhunna wa-ahjurūhunna fī l-maḍājiʿi wa-aḍribūhunna fa-in aṭaʿnakum fa-lā tabghū ʿalayhinna sabīlan inna allāha kāna ʿaliyyan kabīran

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:89

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

waddū law takfurūna ka-mā kafarū fa-takūnūna sawāʾan fa-lā tattakhidhū minhum awliyāʾa ḥattā yuhājirū fī sabīli allāhi fa-in tawallaw fa-khudhūhum wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu wa-jadttumūhum wa-lā tattakhidhū minhum waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;-

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:97

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ قَالُوا۟ فِيمَ كُنتُمْ قَالُوا۟ كُنَّا مُسْتَضْعَفِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ تَكُنْ أَرْضُ ٱللَّـهِ وَٰسِعَةً فَتُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِيهَا فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا

inna lladhīna tawaffahumu l-malāʾikatu ẓālimī anfusihim qālū fīma kuntum qālū kunnā mustaḍʿafīna fī l-arḍi qālū a-lam takun arḍu allāhi wāsiʿatan fa-tuhājirū fīhā fa-ūlāʾika maʾwāhum jahannamu wa-sāʾat maṣīran

When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! -

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:100

وَمَن يُهَاجِرْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ يَجِدْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُرَٰغَمًا كَثِيرًا وَسَعَةً وَمَن يَخْرُجْ مِنۢ بَيْتِهِۦ مُهَاجِرًا إِلَى ٱللَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ يُدْرِكْهُ ٱلْمَوْتُ فَقَدْ وَقَعَ أَجْرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّـهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

wa-man yuhājir fī sabīli allāhi yajid fī l-arḍi murāghaman kathīran wa-saʿatan wa-man yakhruj min baytihi muhājiran ilā allāhi wa-rasūlihi thumma yudrikhu l-mawtu fa-qad waqaʿa ajruhu ʿalā allāhi wa-kāna allāhu ghafūran raḥīman

He who forsakes his home in the cause of Allah, finds in the earth Many a refuge, wide and spacious: Should he die as a refugee from home for Allah and His Messenger, His reward becomes due and sure with Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:72

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاوَوا۟ وَّنَصَرُوٓا۟ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمْ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ مَا لَكُم مِّن وَلَٰيَتِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ وَإِنِ ٱسْتَنصَرُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ ٱلنَّصْرُ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ وَٱللَّـهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

inna lladhīna āmanū wa-hājarū wa-jāhadū bi-amwālihim wa-anfusihim fī sabīli allāhi wa-lladhīna āwaw wwa-naṣarū ulāʾika baʿḍuhum awliyāʾu baʿḍin wa-lladhīna āmanū wa-lam yuhājirū mā la-kum min walāyatihim min shayʾin ḥattā yuhājirū wa-ini istanṣarūkum fī l-dīni faʿalaykumu l-naṣru illā ʿalā qawmin baynakum wa-baynahum mīthāqun wallāhu bi-mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun

Those who believed, and adopted exile, and fought for the Faith, with their property and their persons, in the cause of Allah, as well as those who gave (them) asylum and aid,- these are (all) friends and protectors, one of another. As to those who believed but came not into exile, ye owe no duty of protection to them until they come into exile; but if they seek your aid in religion, it is your duty to help them, except against a people with whom ye have a treaty of mutual alliance. And (remember) Allah seeth all that ye do.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:74

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاوَوا۟ وَّنَصَرُوٓا۟ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا لَّهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ

wa-lladhīna āmanū wa-hājarū wa-jāhadū fī sabīli allāhi wa-lladhīna āwaw wwa-naṣarū ulāʾika humu l-muʾminūna ḥaqqan lahum maghfiratun wa-rizqun karīmun

Those who believe, and adopt exile, and fight for the Faith, in the cause of Allah as well as those who give (them) asylum and aid,- these are (all) in very truth the Believers: for them is the forgiveness of sins and a provision most generous.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:75

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ مَعَكُمْ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مِنكُمْ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِبَعْضٍ فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّـهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ

wa-lladhīna āmanū min baʿdu wa-hājarū wa-jāhadū maʿakum fa-ūlāʾika minkum wa-ūlū l-arḥāmi baʿḍuhum awlā bi-baʿḍin fī kitābi allāhi inna allāha bi-kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun

And those who accept Faith subsequently, and adopt exile, and fight for the Faith in your company,- they are of you. But kindred by blood have prior rights against each other in the Book of Allah. Verily Allah is well-acquainted with all things.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:20

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ

lladhīna āmanū wa-hājarū wa-jāhadū fī sabīli allāhi bi-amwālihim wa-anfusihim aʿẓamu darajatan ʿinda allāhi wa-ūlāʾika humu l-fāʾizūna

Those who believe, and suffer exile and strive with might and main, in Allah's cause, with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah: they are the people who will achieve (salvation).

Sura al-Naḥl 16:41

وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِى ٱللَّـهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَلَأَجْرُ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-lladhīna hājarū fī allāhi min baʿdi mā ẓulimū la-nubawwiʾannahum fī l-dunyā ḥasanatan wa-la-ajru l-akhirati akbaru law kānū yaʿlamūna

To those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, after suffering oppression,- We will assuredly give a goodly home in this world; but truly the reward of the Hereafter will be greater. If they only realised (this)!

Sura al-Naḥl 16:110

ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا فُتِنُوا۟ ثُمَّ جَٰهَدُوا۟ وَصَبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

thumma inna rabbaka li-lladhīna hājarū min baʿdi mā futinū thumma jāhadū wa-ṣabarū inna rabbaka min baʿdihā la-ghafūrun raḥīmun

But verily thy Lord,- to those who leave their homes after trials and persecutions,- and who thereafter strive and fight for the faith and patiently persevere,- Thy Lord, after all this is oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura Maryam 19:46

قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنتَ عَنْ ءَالِهَتِى يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ وَٱهْجُرْنِى مَلِيًّا

qalā a-rāghibun anta ʿan ālihatī yā-ibrāhīmu lain lam tantahi la-arjumannaka wa-ihjurnī maliyyan

(The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!"

Sura al-Ḥajj 22:58

وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ ثُمَّ قُتِلُوٓا۟ أَوْ مَاتُوا۟ لَيَرْزُقَنَّهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا وَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ

wa-lladhīna hājarū fī sabīli allāhi thumma qutilū aw mātū la-yarzuqannahumu allāhu rizqan ḥasanan wa-inna allāha la-huwa khayru l-rāziqīna

Those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, and are then slain or die,- On them will Allah bestow verily a goodly Provision: Truly Allah is He Who bestows the best provision.

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:67

مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَٰمِرًا تَهْجُرُونَ

mustakbirīna bihi sāmiran tahjurūna

"In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night."

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:50

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَٰجَكَ ٱلَّٰتِىٓ ءَاتَيْتَ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ مِمَّآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّٰتِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَٰلَٰتِكَ ٱلَّٰتِى هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَٱمْرَأَةً مُّؤْمِنَةً إِن وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِىِّ إِنْ أَرَادَ ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَن يَسْتَنكِحَهَا خَالِصَةً لَّكَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِىٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ لِكَيْلَا يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌ وَكَانَ ٱللَّـهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

yā-ayyuhā l-nabiyyu innā aḥlalnā la-ka azwājaka allātī ātayta ujūrahunna wa-mā malakat yamīnuka mimmā afāʾa allāhu ʿalayka wa-banāti ʿammika wa-banāti ʿammātika wa-banāti khālika wa-banāti khālātika allātī hājarna maʿaka wa-imraʾatan muʾminatan in wahabat nafsahā lil-nabiyyi in arāda l-nabiyyu an yastankiḥahā khāliṣatan laka min dūni l-muʾminīna qad ʿalimnā mā faraḍnā ʿalayhim fī azwājihim wa-mā malakat aymānuhum li-kaylā yakūna ʿalayka ḥarajun wa-kāna allāhu ghafūran raḥīman

O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Ḥashr 59:9

وَٱلَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُو ٱلدَّارَ وَٱلْإِيمَٰنَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ يُحِبُّونَ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ فِى صُدُورِهِمْ حَاجَةً مِّمَّآ أُوتُوا۟ وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

wa-lladhīna tabawwaū l-dāra wa-alīmāna min qablihim yuḥibbūna man hājara ilayhim wa-lā yajidūna fī ṣudūrihim ḥājatan mimmā ūtū wa-yuthirūna ʿala anfusihim wa-law kāna bihim khaṣāṣatun wa-man yūqa sḥuḥḥa nafsihi fa-ūlāʾika humu l-mufliḥūna

But those who before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith,- show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot). And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.

Sura al-Muzzammil 73:10

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلًا

wa-iṣbir ʿalā mā yaqūlūna wa-ihjurhum hajran jamīlan

And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity).

Sura al-Muddaththir 74:5

وَٱلرُّجْزَ فَٱهْجُرْ

wa-l-rujza fa-ihjur

And all abomination shun!
