Sura al-Baqara 2:110

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

wa-aqīmū l-ṣalāta wa-ātū l-zakāta wa-mā tuqaddimū li-anfusikum min khayrin tajidūhu ʿinda allāhi inna allāha bi-mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun

And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah: for Allah sees Well all that ye do.

Sura al-Baqara 2:283

وَإِن كُنتُمْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ وَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ كَاتِبًا فَرِهَٰنٌ مَّقْبُوضَةٌ فَإِنْ أَمِنَ بَعْضُكُم بَعْضًا فَلْيُؤَدِّ ٱلَّذِى ٱؤْتُمِنَ أَمَٰنَتَهُۥ وَلْيَتَّقِ ٱللَّـهَ رَبَّهُۥ وَلَا تَكْتُمُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَٰدَةَ وَمَن يَكْتُمْهَا فَإِنَّهُۥٓ ءَاثِمٌ قَلْبُهُۥ وَٱللَّـهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ

wa-in kuntum ʿalā safarin wa-lam tajidū kātiban farihānun maqbūḍatun fa-in amina baʿḍukum baʿḍan fa-l-yuʾaddi alladhī iʾtumina amānatahu wa-l-yattaqi allāha rabbahu wa-lā taktumū l-shahādata wa-man yaktumhā fainnahu āthimun qalbuhu wallāhu bi-mā taʿmalūna ʿalīmun

If ye are on a journey, and cannot find a scribe, a pledge with possession (may serve the purpose). And if one of you deposits a thing on trust with another, Let the trustee (Faithfully) discharge His trust, and let him fear his Lord. Conceal not evidence; for whoever conceals it,- His heart is tainted with sin. And Allah Knoweth all that ye do.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:43

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنتُمْ سُكَٰرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَعْلَمُوا۟ مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلَا جُنُبًا إِلَّا عَابِرِى سَبِيلٍ حَتَّىٰ تَغْتَسِلُوا۟ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلْغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَٰمَسْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ مَآءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā taqrabū l-ṣalāta wa-antum sukāra ḥattā taʿlamū mā taqūlūna wa-lā junuban illā ʿābirī sabīlin ḥattā taghtasilū wa-in kuntum marḍā aw ʿalā safarin aw jāa aḥadun minkum mina l-ghāʾiṭi aw lāmastumu l-nisāʾa falam tajidū māʾan fa-tayammamū ṣaʿīdan ṭayyiban fa-amsaḥū biwujūhikum wa-aydīkum inna allāha kāna ʿafūwan ghafūran

O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:64

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا

wa-mā arsalnā min rrasūlin illā li-yuṭāʿa bi-idhni allāhi wa-law annahum idh ẓalamū anfusahum jāʾūka fa-astaghfarū allāha wa-astaghfara lahumu l-rasūlu la-wajadū allāha tawwāban raḥīman

We sent not a messenger, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:65

فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَرَجًا مِّمَّا قَضَيْتَ وَيُسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا

fa-lā warabbika lā yuʾminūna ḥattā yuḥakkimūka fī-mā shajara baynahum thumma lā yajidū fī anfusihim ḥarajan mimmā qaḍayta wa-yusallimū taslīman

But no, by the Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:82

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ ٱللَّـهِ لَوَجَدُوا۟ فِيهِ ٱخْتِلَٰفًا كَثِيرًا

a-fa-lā yatadabbarūna l-qurʾāna wa-law kāna min ʿindi ghayri allāhi la-wajadū fīhi ikhtilāfan kathīran

Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:89

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

waddū law takfurūna ka-mā kafarū fa-takūnūna sawāʾan fa-lā tattakhidhū minhum awliyāʾa ḥattā yuhājirū fī sabīli allāhi fa-in tawallaw fa-khudhūhum wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu wa-jadttumūhum wa-lā tattakhidhū minhum waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;-

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:91

سَتَجِدُونَ ءَاخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ كُلَّ مَا رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ أُرْكِسُوا۟ فِيهَا فَإِن لَّمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا

sa-tajidūna ākharīna yurīdūna an yaʾmanūkum wa-yaʾmanū qawmahum kulla mā ruddū ilā l-fitnati urkisū fīhā fa-in lam yaʿtazilūkum wa-yulqū ilaykumu l-salama wa-yakuffū aydiyahum fa-khudhūhum wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu thaqiftumūhum wa-ūlāʾikum jaʿalnā la-kum ʿalayhim sulṭānan mubīnan

Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:121

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ عَنْهَا مَحِيصًا

ulāʾika maʾwāhum jahannamu wa-lā yajidūna ʿanhā maḥīṣan

They (his dupes) will have their dwelling in Hell, and from it they will find no way of escape.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:173

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَنكَفُوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

fa-ammā lladhīna āmanū wa-ʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti fa-yuwaffīhim ujūrahum wa-yazīduhum min faḍlihi wa-ammā lladhīna istankafū wa-istakbarū fa-yuʿadhdhibuhum ʿadhāban alīman wa-lā yajidūna lahum min dūni allāhi waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards,- and more, out of His bounty: But those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous penalty; Nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:6

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَٱغْسِلُوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْمَرَافِقِ وَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِرُءُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْكَعْبَيْنِ وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُنُبًا فَٱطَّهَّرُوا۟ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلْغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَٰمَسْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ مَآءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُم مِّنْهُ مَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّـهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَٰكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā qumtum ilā l-ṣalawti fa-ighsilū wujūhakum wa-aydiyakum ilā l-marāfiqi wa-amsaḥū biruūsikum wa-arjulakum ilā l-kaʿbayni wa-in kuntum junuban faṭṭahharū wa-in kuntum marḍā aw ʿalā safarin aw jāa aḥadun minkum mina l-ghāʾiṭi aw lāmastumu l-nisāʾa fa-lam tajidū māʾan fa-tayammamū ṣaʿīdan ṭayyiban fa-amsaḥū biwujūhikum wa-aydīkum minhu mā yurīdu allāhu li-yajʿala ʿalaykum min ḥarajin wa-lākin yurīdu li-yuṭahhirakum wa-li-yutimma niʿmatahu ʿalaykum la-ʿallakum tashkurūna

O ye who believe! when ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands, Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favour to you, that ye may be grateful.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:104

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ قَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ

wa-idhā qīla lahum taʿālaw ilā mā anzala allāhu wa-ilā l-rasūli qālū ḥasbunā mā wajadnā ʿalayhi ābāʾanā awalaw kāna ābāʾuhum lā yaʿlamūna shayʾan wa-lā yahtadūna

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed; come to the Messenger": They say: "Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following." what! even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:28

وَإِذَا فَعَلُوا۟ فَٰحِشَةً قَالُوا۟ وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهَآ ءَابَآءَنَا وَٱللَّـهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَا قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْفَحْشَآءِ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

wa-idhā faʿalū fāḥishatan qālū wajadnā ʿalayhā ābāʾanā wallāhu amaranā bihā qul inna allāha lā yaʾmuru bil-faḥshāʾi ataqūlūna ʿalā allāhi mā lā taʿlamūna

When they do aught that is shameful, they say: "We found our fathers doing so"; and "Allah commanded us thus": Say: "Nay, Allah never commands what is shameful: do ye say of Allah what ye know not?"

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:44

وَنَادَىٰٓ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ أَن قَدْ وَجَدْنَا مَا وَعَدَنَا رَبُّنَا حَقًّا فَهَلْ وَجَدتُّم مَّا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا قَالُوا۟ نَعَمْ فَأَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ أَن لَّعْنَةُ ٱللَّـهِ عَلَى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

wa-nādā aṣḥābu l-jannati aṣḥāba l-nāri an qad wajadnā mā waʿadanā rabbunā ḥaqqan fa-hal wajadttum mā waʿada rabbukum ḥaqqan qālū naʿam fa-adhdhana muadhdhinun baynahum an llaʿnatu allāhi ʿalā l-ẓālimīna

The Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire: "We have indeed found the promises of our Lord to us true: Have you also found Your Lord's promises true?" They shall say, "Yes"; but a crier shall proclaim between them: "The curse of Allah is on the wrong-doers;-

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:102

وَمَا وَجَدْنَا لِأَكْثَرِهِم مِّنْ عَهْدٍ وَإِن وَجَدْنَآ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَفَٰسِقِينَ

wa-mā wajadnā liaktharihim min ʿahdin wa-in wajadnā aktharahum la-fāsiqīna

Most of them We found not men (true) to their covenant: but most of them We found rebellious and disobedient.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:157

ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ ٱلنَّبِىَّ ٱلْأُمِّىَّ ٱلَّذِى يَجِدُونَهُۥ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَىٰهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْخَبَٰٓئِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَٱلْأَغْلَٰلَ ٱلَّتِى كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلنُّورَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ مَعَهُۥٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

lladhīna yattabiʿūna l-rasūla l-nabiyya l-ummiyya alladhī yajidūnahu maktūban ʿindahum fī l-tawrāti wa-l-injīli yaʾmuruhum bil-maʿrūfi wa-yanhahum ʿani l-munkari wa-yuḥillu lahumu l-ṭayyibāti wa-yuḥarrimu ʿalayhimu l-khabāʾitha wa-yaḍaʿu ʿanhum iṣrahum wa-l-aghlāla allatī kānat ʿalayhim fa-lladhīna āmanū bihi wa-ʿazzarūhu wa-naṣarūhu wa-ittabaʿū l-nūra alladhī unzila maʿahu ulāʾika humu l-mufliḥūna

"Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures),- in the law and the Gospel;- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper."

Sura al-Tawbah 9:5

فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُوا۟ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِن تَابُوا۟ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَخَلُّوا۟ سَبِيلَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

fa-idhā nsalakha l-ashhuru l-ḥurumu faqtulū l-mushrikīna ḥaythu wa-jadttumūhum wa-khudhūhum wa-aḥṣurūhum wa-aqʿudū lahum kulla marṣadin fa-in tābū wa-aqāmū l-ṣalāta wa-ātawu l-zakāta fakhallū sabīlahum inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:57

لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَـًٔا أَوْ مَغَٰرَٰتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلًا لَّوَلَّوْا۟ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ

law yajidūna maljaʾan aw maghārātin aw muddakhalan llawallaw ilayhi wa-hum yajmaḥūna

If they could find a place to flee to, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightaway thereto, with an obstinate rush.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:79

ٱلَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ ٱلْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ سَخِرَ ٱللَّـهُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

lladhīna yalmizūna l-muṭṭawwiʿīna mina l-muʾminīna fī l-ṣadaqāti wa-lladhīna lā yajidūna illā juhdahum fa-yaskharūna minhum sakhira allāhu minhum wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun

Those who slander such of the believers as give themselves freely to (deeds of) charity, as well as such as can find nothing to give except the fruits of their labour,- and throw ridicule on them,- Allah will throw back their ridicule on them: and they shall have a grievous penalty.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:91

لَّيْسَ عَلَى ٱلضُّعَفَآءِ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْمَرْضَىٰ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ مَا يُنفِقُونَ حَرَجٌ إِذَا نَصَحُوا۟ لِلَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ مَا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ مِن سَبِيلٍ وَٱللَّـهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

laysa ʿalā l-ḍuʿafāʾi wa-lā ʿalā l-marḍā wa-lā ʿalā lladhīna lā yajidūna mā yunfiqūna ḥarajun idhā naṣaḥū lillāhi wa-rasūlihi mā ʿalā l-muḥsinīna min sabīlin wallāhu ghafūrun raḥīmun

There is no blame on those who are infirm, or ill, or who find no resources to spend (on the cause), if they are sincere (in duty) to Allah and His Messenger: no ground (of complaint) can there be against such as do right: and Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:92

وَلَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا مَآ أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَآ أَجِدُ مَآ أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ تَوَلَّوا۟ وَّأَعْيُنُهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ ٱلدَّمْعِ حَزَنًا أَلَّا يَجِدُوا۟ مَا يُنفِقُونَ

wa-lā ʿalā lladhīna idhā mā atawka li-taḥmilahum qulta lā ajidu mā aḥmilukum ʿalayhi tawallaw wwa-aʿyunuhum tafīḍu mina l-damʿi ḥazanan allā yajidū mā yunfiqūna

Nor (is there blame) on those who came to thee to be provided with mounts, and when thou saidst, "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, their eyes streaming with tears of grief that they had no resources wherewith to provide the expenses.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:123

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ قَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يَلُونَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ وَلْيَجِدُوا۟ فِيكُمْ غِلْظَةً وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū qātilū lladhīna yalūnakum mina l-kuffāri wa-l-yajidu fīkum ghilẓatan wa-iʿlamū annā allāha maʿa l-muttaqīna

O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him.

Sura Yūnus 10:78

قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَلْفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلْكِبْرِيَآءُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

qālū a-jiʾtanā litalfitanā ʿammā wajadnā ʿalayhi ābāʾanā wa-takūna lakumā l-kibriyāʾu fī l-arḍi wa-mā naḥnu lakumā bi-mūʾminīna

They said: "Hast thou come to us to turn us away from the ways we found our fathers following,- in order that thou and thy brother may have greatness in the land? But not we shall believe in you!"

Sura Yūsuf 12:65

وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا۟ مَتَٰعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِى هَٰذِهِۦ بِضَٰعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍ ذَٰلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَسِيرٌ

wa-lammā fataḥū matāʿahum wajadū biḍāʿatahum ruddat ilayhim qālū yā-abānā mā nabghī hādhihi biḍāʿatunā ruddat ilaynā wa-namīru ahlanā wa-naḥfaẓu akhānā wa-nazdādu kayla baʿīrin dhālika kaylun yasīrun

Then when they opened their baggage, they found their stock-in-trade had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity.

Sura Yūsuf 12:79

قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّـهِ أَن نَّأْخُذَ إِلَّا مَن وَجَدْنَا مَتَٰعَنَا عِندَهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّظَٰلِمُونَ

qalā maʿādha allāhi an nnakhudha illā man wajadnā matāʿanā ʿindahu innā idhan llaẓālimūna

He said: "Allah forbid that we take other than him with whom we found our property: indeed (if we did so), we should be acting wrongfully.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:68

أَفَأَمِنتُمْ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمْ جَانِبَ ٱلْبَرِّ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا۟ لَكُمْ وَكِيلًا

a-fa-amintum an yakhsifa bikum jāniba l-barri aw yursila ʿalaykum ḥāṣiban thumma lā tajidū la-kum wakīlan

Do ye then feel secure that He will not cause you to be swallowed up beneath the earth when ye are on land, or that He will not send against you a violent tornado (with showers of stones) so that ye shall find no one to carry out your affairs for you?

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:69

أَمْ أَمِنتُمْ أَن يُعِيدَكُمْ فِيهِ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ فَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ قَاصِفًا مِّنَ ٱلرِّيحِ فَيُغْرِقَكُم بِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا۟ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا بِهِۦ تَبِيعًا

am amintum an yuʿīdakum fīhi tāratan ukhrā fa-yursila ʿalaykum qāṣifan mina l-rīḥi fa-yughriqakum bi-mā kafartum thumma lā tajidū la-kum ʿalaynā bihi tabīʿan

Or do ye feel secure that He will not send you back a second time to sea and send against you a heavy gale to drown you because of your ingratitude, so that ye find no helper. Therein against Us?

Sura al-Kahf 18:49

وَوُضِعَ ٱلْكِتَٰبُ فَتَرَى ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِيهِ وَيَقُولُونَ يَٰوَيْلَتَنَا مَالِ هَٰذَا ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّآ أَحْصَىٰهَا وَوَجَدُوا۟ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ حَاضِرًا وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًا

wa-wuḍiʿa l-kitābu fatarā l-mujrimīna mushfiqīna mimmā fīhi wa-yaqūlūna yā-waylatanā māli hādhā l-kitābi lā yughādiru ṣaghīratan wa-lā kabīratan illā aḥṣahā wa-wajadū mā ʿamilū ḥāḍiran wa-lā yaẓlimu rabbuka aḥadan

And the Book (of Deeds) will be placed (before you); and thou wilt see the sinful in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein; they will say, "Ah! woe to us! what a Book is this! It leaves out nothing small or great, but takes account thereof!" They will find all that they did, placed before them: And not one will thy Lord treat with injustice.

Sura al-Kahf 18:53

وَرَءَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ ٱلنَّارَ فَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مُّوَاقِعُوهَا وَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ عَنْهَا مَصْرِفًا

wa-raā l-mujrimūna l-nāra fa-ẓannū annahum muwāqiʿūhā wa-lam yajidū ʿanhā maṣrifan

And the Sinful shall see the fire and apprehend that they have to fall therein: no means will they find to turn away therefrom.

Sura al-Kahf 18:58

وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ذُو ٱلرَّحْمَةِ لَوْ يُؤَاخِذُهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ لَعَجَّلَ لَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ بَل لَّهُم مَّوْعِدٌ لَّن يَجِدُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَوْئِلًا

wa-rabbuka l-ghafūru dhū l-raḥmati law yuʾākhidhuhum bi-mā kasabū laʿajjala lahumu l-ʿadhāba bal lahum mawʿidun lan yajidū min dūnihi mawʾilan

But your Lord is Most forgiving, full of Mercy. If He were to call them (at once) to account for what they have earned, then surely He would have hastened their punishment: but they have their appointed time, beyond which they will find no refuge.

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:115

وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِىَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْمًا

wa-la-qad ʿahidnā ila ādama min qablu fanasiya wa-lam najid lahu ʿazman

We had already, beforehand, taken the covenant of Adam, but he forgot: and We found on his part no firm resolve.

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:53

قَالُوا۟ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا لَهَا عَٰبِدِينَ

qālū wajadnā ābāʾanā lahā ʿābidīna

They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them."

Sura al-Nūr 24:28

فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا۟ فِيهَآ أَحَدًا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا حَتَّىٰ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ وَإِن قِيلَ لَكُمُ ٱرْجِعُوا۟ فَٱرْجِعُوا۟ هُوَ أَزْكَىٰ لَكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ

fa-in lam tajidū fīhā aḥadan fa-lā tadkhulūhā ḥattā yudhana la-kum wa-in qīla lakumu arjiʿū fa-irjiʿū huwa azka la-kum wallāhu bi-mā taʿmalūna ʿalīmun

If ye find no one in the house, enter not until permission is given to you: if ye are asked to go back, go back: that makes for greater purity for yourselves: and Allah knows well all that ye do.

Sura al-Nūr 24:33

وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحًا حَتَّىٰ يُغْنِيَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَبْتَغُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِمَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ فَكَاتِبُوهُمْ إِنْ عَلِمْتُمْ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا وَءَاتُوهُم مِّن مَّالِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا۟ فَتَيَٰتِكُمْ عَلَى ٱلْبِغَآءِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّنًا لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ عَرَضَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمَن يُكْرِههُّنَّ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِكْرَٰهِهِنَّ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

wa-l-yastaʿfifi lladhīna lā yajidūna nikāḥan ḥattā yughniyahumu allāhu min faḍlihi wa-lladhīna yabtaghūna l-kitāba mimmā malakat aymānukum fa-kātibūhum in ʿalimtum fīhim khayran wa-ātūhum min māli allāhi alladhī ātakum wa-lā tukrihū fatayātikum ʿalā l-bighāʾi in aradna taḥaṣṣunan li-tabtaghū ʿaraḍa l-ḥayāti l-dunyā wa-man yukrihhhunna fa-inna allāha min baʿdi ikrāhihinna ghafūrun raḥīmun

Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: yea, give them something yourselves out of the means which Allah has given to you. But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them),

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:74

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ

qālū bal wajadnā ābāʾanā ka-dhālika yafʿalūna

They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."

Sura Luqmān 31:21

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ قَالُوا۟ بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ عَذَابِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

wa-idhā qīla lahumu ittabiʿū mā anzala allāhu qālū bal nattabiʿu mā wajadnā ʿalayhi ābāʾanā awalaw kāna l-shayṭānu yadʿūhum ilā ʿadhābi l-saʿīri

When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: "Nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following). "What! even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire?

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:17

قُلْ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَعْصِمُكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ رَحْمَةً وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

qul man dhā alladhī yaʿṣimukum mina allāhi in arāda bikum sūʾan aw arāda bikum raḥmatan wa-lā yajidūna lahum min dūni allāhi waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

Say: "Who is it that can screen you from Allah if it be His wish to give you punishment or to give you Mercy?" Nor will they find for themselves, besides Allah, any protector or helper.

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:65

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا لَّا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

khālidīna fīhā abadan lā yajidūna waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

To dwell therein for ever: no protector will they find, nor helper.

Sura Ṣād 38:44

وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَٱضْرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَٰهُ صَابِرًا نِّعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ

wa-khudh bi-yadika ḍighthan fa-iḍrib bbihi wa-lā taḥnath innā wajadnāhu ṣābiran nniʿma l-ʿabdu innahu awwābun

"And take in thy hand a little grass, and strike therewith: and break not (thy oath)." Truly We found him full of patience and constancy. How excellent in Our service! ever did he turn (to Us)!

Sura al-Zukhruf 43:22

بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ

bal qālū innā wajadnā ābāʾanā ʿala ummatin wa-innā ʿala āthārihim muhtadūna

Nay! they say: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we do guide ourselves by their footsteps."

Sura al-Zukhruf 43:23

وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ

wa-ka-dhālika mā arsalnā min qablika fī qaryatin min nnadhīrin illā qalā mutrafūhā innā wajadnā ābāʾanā ʿala ummatin wa-innā ʿala āthārihim muqtadūna

Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps."

Sura al-Zukhruf 43:24

قَٰلَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَكُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ

qalā awalaw jiʾtukum biahda mimmā wajadttum ʿalayhi ābāʾakum qālū innā bimā ursiltum bihi kāfirūna

He said: "What! Even if I brought you better guidance than that which ye found your fathers following?" They said: "For us, we deny that ye (prophets) are sent (on a mission at all)."

Sura al-Fatḥ 48:22

وَلَوْ قَٰتَلَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوَلَّوُا۟ ٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

wa-law qātalakumu lladhīna kafarū la-wallawu l-adbāra thumma lā yajidūna waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

If the Unbelievers should fight you, they would certainly turn their backs; then would they find neither protector nor helper.

Sura al-Dhāriyāt 51:36

فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

fa-mā wajadnā fīhā ghayra baytin mina l-muslimīna

But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house:

Sura al-Mujādilah 58:12

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَٰجَيْتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَةً ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā nājaytumu l-rasūla faqaddimū bayna yada najwakum ṣadaqatan dhālika khayrun la-kum wa-aṭharu fa-in lam tajidū fa-inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun

O ye who believe! When ye consult the Messenger in private, spend something in charity before your private consultation. That will be best for you, and most conducive to purity (of conduct). But if ye find not (the wherewithal), Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Ḥashr 59:9

وَٱلَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُو ٱلدَّارَ وَٱلْإِيمَٰنَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ يُحِبُّونَ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ فِى صُدُورِهِمْ حَاجَةً مِّمَّآ أُوتُوا۟ وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

wa-lladhīna tabawwaū l-dāra wa-alīmāna min qablihim yuḥibbūna man hājara ilayhim wa-lā yajidūna fī ṣudūrihim ḥājatan mimmā ūtū wa-yuthirūna ʿala anfusihim wa-law kāna bihim khaṣāṣatun wa-man yūqa sḥuḥḥa nafsihi fa-ūlāʾika humu l-mufliḥūna

But those who before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith,- show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot). And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.

Sura Nūḥ 71:25

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ أَنصَارًا

mimmā khaṭīātihim ughriqū fa-udkhilū nāran fa-lam yajidū lahum min dūni allāhi anṣāran

Because of their sins they were drowned (in the flood), and were made to enter the Fire (of Punishment): and they found- in lieu of Allah- none to help them.

Sura al-Jinn 72:8

وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِيدًا وَشُهُبًا

wa-annā lamasnā l-samāʾa fa-wajadnāhā muliʾat ḥarasan shadīdan wa-shuhuban

'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires.

Sura al-Muzzammil 73:20

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ وَٱللَّـهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًا وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌۢ

inna rabbaka yaʿlamu annaka taqūmu adnā min thuluthai l-layli wa-niṣfahu wa-thuluthahu wa-ṭāifatun mina lladhīna maʿaka wallāhu yuqaddiru l-layla wa-l-nahāra ʿalima an lan tuḥṣūhu fatāba ʿalaykum fa-iqraʾū mā tayassara mina l-qurʾāni ʿalima an sa-yakūnu minkum marḍā wa-ākharūna yaḍribūna fī l-arḍi yabtaghūna min faḍli allāhi wa-ākharūna yuqātilūna fī sabīli allāhi fa-iqraʾū mā tayassara minhu wa-aqīmū l-ṣalāta wa-ātū l-zakāta wa-aqriḍū allāha qarḍan ḥasanan wa-mā tuqaddimū li-anfusikum min khayrin tajidūhu ʿinda allāhi huwa khayran wa-aʿẓama ajran wa-astaghfirū allāha inna allāha ghafūrun rraḥīmun

Thy Lord doth know that thou standest forth (to prayer) nigh two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so doth a party of those with thee. But Allah doth appoint night and day in due measure He knoweth that ye are unable to keep count thereof. So He hath turned to you (in mercy): read ye, therefore, of the Qur'an as much as may be easy for you. He knoweth that there may be (some) among you in ill-health; others travelling through the land, seeking of Allah's bounty; yet others fighting in Allah's Cause, read ye, therefore, as much of the Qur'an as may be easy (for you); and establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan. And whatever good ye send forth for your souls ye shall find it in Allah's Presence,- yea, better and greater, in Reward and seek ye the Grace of Allah: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
