Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-

And Satan will say when the matter is decided: "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty."

So Moses returned to his people in a state of indignation and sorrow. He said: "O my people! did not your Lord make a handsome promise to you? Did then the promise seem to you long (in coming)? Or did ye desire that Wrath should descend from your Lord on you, and so ye broke your promise to me?"

When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, thou wilt notice a denial on the faces of the Unbelievers! they nearly attack with violence those who rehearse Our Signs to them. وَقَالَ  رَجُلٌ  مُّؤْمِنٌ  مِّنْ  ءَالِ  فِرْعَوْنَ  يَكْتُمُ  إِيمَٰنَهُۥٓ  أَتَقْتُلُونَ  رَجُلًا  أَن  يَقُولَ  رَبِّىَ  ٱللَّـهُ  وَقَدْ  جَآءَكُم  بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ  مِن  رَّبِّكُمْ  وَإِن  يَكُ  كَٰذِبًا  فَعَلَيْهِ  كَذِبُهُۥ  وَإِن  يَكُ  صَادِقًا  يُصِبْكُم  بَعْضُ  ٱلَّذِى  يَعِدُكُمْ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  لَا  يَهْدِى  مَنْ  هُوَ  مُسْرِفٌ  كَذَّابٌ wa‑qāla rajulun muʾminun min āli firʿawna yaktumu īmānahu ataqtulūna rajulan an yaqūla rabbiya allāhu wa‑qad jāʾakum bil‑bayyināti min rabbikum wa‑in yaku kādhiban faʿalayhi kadhibuhu wa‑in yaku ṣādiqan yuṣibkum baʿḍu alladhī yaʿidukum inna allāha yahdī man huwa musrifun kadhdhābun
A believer, a man from among the people of Pharaoh, who had concealed his faith, said: "Will ye slay a man because he says, 'My Lord is Allah'?- when he has indeed come to you with Clear (Signs) from your Lord? and if he be a liar, on him is (the sin of) his lie: but, if he is telling the Truth, then will fall on you something of the (calamity) of which he warns you: Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies!

Surah 43 al-Zukhruf (The Embellishment)
(43:83)

So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised.

Surah 46 al-Aḥqāf (The Sandhills)
(46:16)

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  نَتَقَبَّلُ  عَنْهُمْ  أَحْسَنَ  مَا  عَمِلُوا۟  وَنَتَجَاوَزُ  عَن  سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ  فِىٓ  أَصْحَٰبِ  ٱلْجَنَّةِ  وَعْدَ  ٱلصِّدْقِ  ٱلَّذِى  كَانُوا۟  يُوعَدُونَ ulāʾika lladhīna nataqabbalu ʿanhum aḥsana ʿamilū wa‑natajāwazu ʿan sayyiʾātihim aṣḥābi l‑jannati waʿda l‑ṣidqi alladhī kānū yūʿadūna
Such are they from whom We shall accept the best of their deeds and pass by their ill deeds: (They shall be) among the Companions of the Garden: a promise! of truth, which was made to them (in this life).
(46:17)

وَٱلَّذِى  قَالَ  لِوَٰلِدَيْهِ  أُفٍّ  لَّكُمَآ  أَتَعِدَانِنِىٓ  أَنْ  أُخْرَجَ  وَقَدْ  خَلَتِ  ٱلْقُرُونُ  مِن  قَبْلِى  وَهُمَا  يَسْتَغِيثَانِ  ٱللَّـهَ  وَيْلَكَ  ءَامِنْ  إِنَّ  وَعْدَ  ٱللَّـهِ  حَقٌّ  فَيَقُولُ  مَا  هَٰذَآ  إِلَّآ  أَسَٰطِيرُ  ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ wa‑lladhī qalā li‑wālidayhi uffin lakumā a‑taʿidāninī an ukhraja wa‑qad khalati l‑qurūnu min qablī wa‑humā yastaghīthāni allāha waylaka āmin inna waʿda allāhi ḥaqqun fa‑yaqūlu hādhā illā asāṭīru l‑awwalīna
But (there is one) who says to his parents, "Fie on you! Do ye hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up, even though generations have passed before me (without rising again)?" And they two seek Allah's aid, (and rebuke the son): "Woe to thee! Have faith! for the promise of Allah is true." But he says, "This is nothing but tales of the ancients!"
(46:35)

Therefore patiently persevere, as did (all) messengers of inflexible purpose; and be in no haste about the (Unbelievers). On the Day that they see the (Punishment) promised them, (it will be) as if they had not tarried more than an hour in a single day. (Thine but) to proclaim the Message: but shall any be destroyed except those who transgress?

Surah 47 Muḥammad (Muhammad)
(47:15)

مَّثَلُ  ٱلْجَنَّةِ  ٱلَّتِى  وُعِدَ  ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ  فِيهَآ  أَنْهَٰرٌ  مِّن  مَّآءٍ  غَيْرِ  ءَاسِنٍ  وَأَنْهَٰرٌ  مِّن  لَّبَنٍ  لَّمْ  يَتَغَيَّرْ  طَعْمُهُۥ  وَأَنْهَٰرٌ  مِّنْ  خَمْرٍ  لَّذَّةٍ  لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ  وَأَنْهَٰرٌ  مِّنْ  عَسَلٍ  مُّصَفًّى  وَلَهُمْ  فِيهَا  مِن  كُلِّ  ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ  وَمَغْفِرَةٌ  مِّن  رَّبِّهِمْ  كَمَنْ  هُوَ  خَٰلِدٌ  فِى  ٱلنَّارِ  وَسُقُوا۟  مَآءً  حَمِيمًا  فَقَطَّعَ  أَمْعَآءَهُمْ mathalu l‑jannati allatī wuʿida l‑muttaqūna fīhā anhārun min māʾin ghayri āsinin wa‑anhārun min labanin lam yataghayyar ṭaʿmuhu wa‑anhārun min khamrin ladhdhatin lil‑shāribīna wa‑anhārun min ʿasalin muṣaffan wa‑lahum fīhā min kulli l‑thamarāti wa‑maghfiratun min rabbihim kaman huwa khālidun l‑nāri wa‑suqū māʾan ḥamīman fa‑qaṭṭaʿa amʿāʾahum
(Here is) a Parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised: in it are rivers of water incorruptible; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine, a joy to those who drink; and rivers of honey pure and clear. In it there are for them all kinds of fruits; and Grace from their Lord. (Can those in such Bliss) be compared to such as shall dwell for ever in the Fire, and be given, to drink, boiling water, so that it cuts up their bowels (to pieces)?

Surah 48 al-Fatḥ (The Victory)
(48:20)

Allah has promised you many gains that ye shall acquire, and He has given you these beforehand; and He has restrained the hands of men from you; that it may be a Sign for the Believers, and that He may guide you to a Straight Path;
(48:29)

مُّحَمَّدٌ  رَّسُولُ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَٱلَّذِينَ  مَعَهُۥٓ  أَشِدَّآءُ  عَلَى  ٱلْكُفَّارِ  رُحَمَآءُ  بَيْنَهُمْ  تَرَىٰهُمْ  رُكَّعًا  سُجَّدًا  يَبْتَغُونَ  فَضْلًا  مِّنَ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَرِضْوَٰنًا  سِيمَاهُمْ  فِى  وُجُوهِهِم  مِّنْ  أَثَرِ  ٱلسُّجُودِ  ذَٰلِكَ  مَثَلُهُمْ  فِى  ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ  وَمَثَلُهُمْ  فِى  ٱلْإِنجِيلِ  كَزَرْعٍ  أَخْرَجَ  شَطْـَٔهُۥ  فَـَٔازَرَهُۥ  فَٱسْتَغْلَظَ  فَٱسْتَوَىٰ  عَلَىٰ  سُوقِهِۦ  يُعْجِبُ  ٱلزُّرَّاعَ  لِيَغِيظَ  بِهِمُ  ٱلْكُفَّارَ  وَعَدَ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  وَعَمِلُوا۟  ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ  مِنْهُم  مَّغْفِرَةً  وَأَجْرًا  عَظِيمًۢا muḥammadun rasūlu allāhi wa‑lladhīna maʿahu ashiddāʾu ʿalā l‑kuffāri ruḥamāʾu baynahum tarāhum rukkaʿan sujjadan yabtaghūna faḍlan mina allāhi wa‑riḍwānan sīmāhum wujūhihim min athari l‑sujūdi dhālika mathaluhum l‑tawrāti wa‑mathaluhum li‑injīli kazarʿin akhraja shaṭʾahu fa‑āzarahu fa‑istaghlaẓa fa‑istawā ʿalā sūqihi yuʿjibu l‑zurrāʿa li‑yaghīẓa bihimu l‑kuffāra waʿada allāhu lladhīna āmanū wa‑ʿamilū l‑ṣāliḥāti minhum maghfiratan wa‑ajran ʿaẓīman
Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer), seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration. This is their similitude in the Taurat; and their similitude in the Gospel is: like a seed which sends forth its blade, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem, (filling) the sowers with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness, and a great Reward.

Surah 51 al-Dhāriyāt (The Scatterers)
(51:60)

Woe, then, to the Unbelievers, on account of that Day of theirs which they have been promised!

Surah 57 al-Ḥadīd (The Iron)
(57:10)

وَمَا  لَكُمْ  أَلَّا  تُنفِقُوا۟  فِى  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَلِلَّەِ  مِيرَٰثُ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  لَا  يَسْتَوِى  مِنكُم  مَّنْ  أَنفَقَ  مِن  قَبْلِ  ٱلْفَتْحِ  وَقَٰتَلَ  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  أَعْظَمُ  دَرَجَةً  مِّنَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  أَنفَقُوا۟  مِنۢ  بَعْدُ  وَقَٰتَلُوا۟  وَكُلًّا  وَعَدَ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ  وَٱللَّـهُ  بِمَا  تَعْمَلُونَ  خَبِيرٌ wa‑mā la‑kum allā tunfiqū sabīli allāhi wa‑lillahi mīrāthu l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi yastawī minkum man anfaqa min qabli l‑fatḥi wa‑qātala ulāʾika aʿẓamu darajatan mina lladhīna anfaqū min baʿdu wa‑qātalū wa‑kullan waʿada allāhu l‑ḥusnā wallāhu bi‑mā taʿmalūna khabīrun
And what cause have ye why ye should not spend in the cause of Allah?- For to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth. Not equal among you are those who spent (freely) and fought, before the Victory, (with those who did so later). Those are higher in rank than those who spent (freely) and fought afterwards. But to all has Allah promised a goodly (reward). And Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

Surah 70 al-Maʿārij (The Ladders)
(70:42)

So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they encounter that Day of theirs which they have been promised!-
(70:44)

Their eyes lowered in dejection,- ignominy covering them (all over)! such is the Day the which they are promised!

Surah 72 al-Jinn (The Jinn)
(72:24)

حَتَّىٰٓ  إِذَا  رَأَوْا۟  مَا  يُوعَدُونَ  فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ  مَنْ  أَضْعَفُ  نَاصِرًا  وَأَقَلُّ  عَدَدًا ḥatta idhā raʾaw yūʿadūna fa‑sa‑yaʿlamūna man aḍʿafu nāṣiran wa‑aqallu ʿadadan
At length, when they see (with their own eyes) that which they are promised,- then will they know who it is that is weakest in (his) helper and least important in point of numbers.
