Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:65

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

wa-ilā ʿādin akhāhum hūdan qalā yā-qawmi iʿbudū allāha mā la-kum min ilāhin ghayruhu a-fa-lā tattaqūna

To the 'Ad people, (We sent) Hud, one of their (own) brethren: He said: O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him will ye not fear (Allah)?"

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:74

وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِن سُهُولِهَا قُصُورًا وَتَنْحِتُونَ ٱلْجِبَالَ بُيُوتًا فَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ ءَالَآءَ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

wa-idhkurū idh jaʿalakum khulafāʾa min baʿdi ʿādin wa-bawwaʾakum fī l-arḍi tattakhidhūna min suhūlihā quṣūran wa-tanḥitūna l-jibāla buyūtan fa-udhkurū ālāʾa allāhi wa-lā taʿthaw fī l-arḍi mufsidīna

"And remember how He made you inheritors after the 'Ad people and gave you habitations in the land: ye build for yourselves palaces and castles in (open) plains, and care out homes in the mountains; so bring to remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah, and refrain from evil and mischief on the earth."

Sura al-Tawbah 9:70

أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَأَصْحَٰبِ مَدْيَنَ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتِ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّـهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

a-lam yaʾtihim nabaʾu lladhīna min qablihim qawmi nūḥin wa-ʿādin wa-thamūda wa-qawmi ibrāhīma wa-aṣḥābi madyana wa-l-muʾtafikāti atathum rusuluhum bil-bayyināti fa-mā kāna allāhu li-yaẓlimahum wa-lākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūna

Hath not the story reached them of those before them?- the People of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud; the People of Abraham, the men of Midian, and the cities overthrown. To them came their messengers with clear signs. It is not Allah Who wrongs them, but they wrong their own souls.

Sura Hūd 11:50

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا مُفْتَرُونَ

wa-ilā ʿādin akhāhum hūdan qalā yā-qawmi iʿbudū allāha mā la-kum min ilāhin ghayruhu in antum illā muftarūna

To the 'Ad People (We sent) Hud, one of their own brethren. He said: "O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. (Your other gods) ye do nothing but invent!

Sura Hūd 11:59

وَتِلْكَ عَادٌ جَحَدُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْا۟ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ

wa-tilka ʿādun jaḥadū bi-āyāti rabbihim wa-ʿaṣaw rusulahu wa-ittabaʿū amra kulli jabbārin ʿanīdin

Such were the 'Ad People: they rejected the Signs of their Lord and Cherisher; disobeyed His messengers; And followed the command of every powerful, obstinate transgressor.

Sura Hūd 11:60

وَأُتْبِعُوا۟ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَلَآ إِنَّ عَادًا كَفَرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمْ أَلَا بُعْدًا لِّعَادٍ قَوْمِ هُودٍ

wa-utbiʿū fī hādhihi l-dunyā laʿnatan wa-yawma l-qiyāmati āla inna ʿādan kafarū rabbahum āla buʿdan li-ʿādin qawmi hūdin

And they were pursued by a Curse in this life,- and on the Day of Judgment. Ah! Behold! for the 'Ad rejected their Lord and Cherisher! Ah! Behold! removed (from sight) were 'Ad the people of Hud!

Sura Ibrāhīm 14:9

أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لَا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلَّا ٱللَّـهُ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرَدُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِىٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كَفَرْنَا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَنَآ إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍ

a-lam yatikum nabaʾu lladhīna min qablikum qawmi nūḥin wa-ʿādin wa-thamūda wa-lladhīna min baʿdihim lā yaʿlamuhum illā allāhu jāʾathum rusuluhum bil-bayyināti fa-raddū aydiyahum fī afwāhihim wa-qālū innā kafarnā bimā ursiltum bihi wa-innā la-fī shakkin mimmā tadʿūnanā ilayhi murībin

Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us."

Sura al-Ḥajj 22:42

وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَثَمُودُ

wa-in yukadhdhibūka fa-qad kadhdhabat qablahum qawmu nūḥin wa-ʿādun wa-thamūdu

If they treat thy (mission) as false, so did the peoples before them (with their prophets),- the People of Noah, and 'Ad and Thamud;

Sura al-Furqān 25:38

وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَأَصْحَٰبَ ٱلرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًۢا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرًا

wa-ʿādan wa-thamūdā wa-aṣḥāba l-rassi wa-qurūnan bayna dhālika kathīran

As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them.

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:123

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

kadhdhabat ʿādun l-mursalīna

The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers.

Sura al-ʿAnkabūt 29:38

وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَقَد تَّبَيَّنَ لَكُم مِّن مَّسَٰكِنِهِمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ

wa-ʿādan wa-thamūdā wa-qad tabayyana la-kum min masākinihim wa-zayyana lahumu l-shayṭānu aʿmālahum fa-ṣaddahum ʿani l-sabīli wa-kānū mustabṣirīna

(Remember also) the 'Ad and the Thamud (people): clearly will appear to you from (the traces) of their buildings (their fate): the Evil One made their deeds alluring to them, and kept them back from the Path, though they were gifted with intelligence and skill.

Sura Ṣād 38:12

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو ٱلْأَوْتَادِ

kadhdhabat qablahum qawmu nūḥin wa-ʿādun wa-firʿawnu dhū l-awtādi

Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes,

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:31

مِثْلَ دَأْبِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ وَمَا ٱللَّـهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا لِّلْعِبَادِ

mithla dabi qawmi nūḥin wa-ʿādin wa-thamūda wa-lladhīna min baʿdihim wa-mā allāhu yurīdu ẓulman lil-ʿibādi

"Something like the fate of the People of Noah, the 'Ad, and the Thamud, and those who came after them: but Allah never wishes injustice to his Servants.

Sura Fuṣṣilat 41:13

فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا۟ فَقُلْ أَنذَرْتُكُمْ صَٰعِقَةً مِّثْلَ صَٰعِقَةِ عَادٍ وَثَمُودَ

fa-in aʿraḍū fa-qul andhartukum ṣāʿiqatan mithla ṣāʿiqati ʿādin wa-thamūda

But if they turn away, say thou: "I have warned you of a stunning Punishment (as of thunder and lightning) like that which (overtook) the 'Ad and the Thamud!"

Sura Fuṣṣilat 41:15

فَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا۟ مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ

fa-ammā ʿādun fa-istakbarū fī l-arḍi bi-ghayri l-ḥaqqi wa-qālū man ashaddu minnā quwwatan a-wa-lam yaraw annā allāha alladhī khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan wa-kānū bi-āyātinā yajḥadūna

Now the 'Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: "Who is superior to us in strength?" What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs!

Sura al-Aḥqāf 46:21

وَٱذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُۥ بِٱلْأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ ٱلنُّذُرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦٓ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّـهَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

wa-idhkur akhā ʿādin idh andhara qawmahu bil-aḥqāfi wa-qad khalati l-nudhuru min bayni yadayhi wa-min khalfihi allā taʿbudū illā allāha innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin

Mention (Hud) one of 'Ad's (own) brethren: Behold, he warned his people about the winding Sand-tracts: but there have been warners before him and after him: "Worship ye none other than Allah: Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Mighty Day."

Sura Qāf 50:13

وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ وَإِخْوَٰنُ لُوطٍ

wa-ʿādun wa-firʿawnu waikhwānu lūṭin

The 'Ad, Pharaoh, the brethren of Lut,

Sura al-Dhāriyāt 51:41

وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ

wa-fī ʿādin idh arsalnā ʿalayhimu l-rīḥa l-ʿaqīma

And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:

Sura al-Najm 53:50

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ

wa-annahu ahlaka ʿādan l-ūlā

And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people),

Sura al-Qamar 54:18

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ

kadhdhabat ʿādun fa-kayfa kāna ʿadhābī wa-nudhuri

The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning?

Sura al-Ḥāqqah 69:4

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ

kadhdhabat thamūdu wa-ʿādun bil-qāriʿati

The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity!

Sura al-Ḥāqqah 69:6

وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ

wa-ammā ʿādun fa-uhlikū birīḥin ṣarṣarin ʿātiyatin

And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent;

Sura al-Fajr 89:6

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

a-lam tara kayfa faʿala rabbuka biʿādin

Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-
