Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)

(2:38)    | قُلْنَا ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًى فَمَن تَبِعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ | qulnā ahbiṭū minhā jamīʿan fa‑immā yaʾtiyannakum minnī hudan fa‑man tabiʿa hudāya fa‑lā khawfun ʿalayhim wa‑lā hum yaḥzanūna | We said: "Get ye down all from here; and if, as is sure, there
comes to you Guidance from me, whosoever follows My guidance, on them shall
be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
Sura al-Baqara 2:38 قُلْنَا ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًى فَمَن تَبِعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ qulnā ahbiṭū minhā jamīʿan fa-immā yaʾtiyannakum minnī hudan fa-man tabiʿa hudāya fa-lā khawfun ʿalayhim wa-lā hum yaḥzanūna We said: "Get ye down all from here; and if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from me, whosoever follows My guidance, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. |
| (2:87) | وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ بِٱلرُّسُلِ وَءَاتَيْنَا عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَأَيَّدْنَٰهُ بِرُوحِ ٱلْقُدُسِ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُكُمُ ٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِيقًا كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ | wa‑la‑qad ātaynā mūsā l‑kitāba wa‑qaffaynā min baʿdihi bil‑rusuli wa‑ātaynā ʿīsā ibna maryama l‑bayyināti wa‑ayyadnāhu bi‑rūḥi l‑qudusi afakullamā jāʾakum rasūlun bi‑mā lā tahwā anfusukumu astakbartum fa‑farīqan kadhdhabtum wa‑farīqan taqtulūna | We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession
of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened
him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger
with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye
called impostors, and others ye slay!
Sura al-Baqara 2:87 وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ بِٱلرُّسُلِ وَءَاتَيْنَا عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَأَيَّدْنَٰهُ بِرُوحِ ٱلْقُدُسِ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُكُمُ ٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِيقًا كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ wa-la-qad ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba wa-qaffaynā min baʿdihi bil-rusuli wa-ātaynā ʿīsā ibna maryama l-bayyināti wa-ayyadnāhu bi-rūḥi l-qudusi afakullamā jāʾakum rasūlun bi-mā lā tahwā anfusukumu astakbartum fa-farīqan kadhdhabtum wa-farīqan taqtulūna We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. | (2:109) | وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ إِيمَٰنِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِّنْ عِندِ أَنفُسِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَٱعْفُوا۟ وَٱصْفَحُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ ٱللَّـهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ | wadda kathīrun min ahli l‑kitābi law yaruddūnakum min baʿdi īmānikum kuffāran ḥasadan min ʿindi anfusihim min baʿdi mā tabayyana lahumu l‑ḥaqqu fa‑iʿfū wa‑iṣfaḥū ḥattā yaʾtiya allāhu bi‑amrihi inna allāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun | Quite a number of the People of the Book wish they could Turn
you (people) back to infidelity after ye have believed, from selfish envy,
after the Truth hath become Manifest unto them: But forgive and overlook,
Till Allah accomplish His purpose; for Allah Hath power over all things.
Sura al-Baqara 2:109 وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ إِيمَٰنِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِّنْ عِندِ أَنفُسِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَٱعْفُوا۟ وَٱصْفَحُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ ٱللَّـهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ wadda kathīrun min ahli l-kitābi law yaruddūnakum min baʿdi īmānikum kuffāran ḥasadan min ʿindi anfusihim min baʿdi mā tabayyana lahumu l-ḥaqqu fa-iʿfū wa-iṣfaḥū ḥattā yaʾtiya allāhu bi-amrihi inna allāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun Quite a number of the People of the Book wish they could Turn you (people) back to infidelity after ye have believed, from selfish envy, after the Truth hath become Manifest unto them: But forgive and overlook, Till Allah accomplish His purpose; for Allah Hath power over all things. |
| (2:118) | وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ لَوْلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا ٱللَّـهُ أَوْ تَأْتِينَآ ءَايَةٌ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْ تَشَٰبَهَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا ٱلْأَيَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ | wa‑qāla lladhīna lā yaʿlamūna lawlā yukallimunā allāhu aw tatīnā āyatun ka‑dhālika qalā lladhīna min qablihim mithla qawlihim tashābahat qulūbuhum qad bayyannā l‑ayāti li‑qawmin yūqinūna | Say those without knowledge: "Why speaketh not Allah unto us? or
why cometh not unto us a Sign?" So said the people before them words of
similar import. Their hearts are alike. We have indeed made clear the Signs
unto any people who hold firmly to Faith (in their hearts).
Sura al-Baqara 2:118 وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ لَوْلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا ٱللَّـهُ أَوْ تَأْتِينَآ ءَايَةٌ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْ تَشَٰبَهَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا ٱلْأَيَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ wa-qāla lladhīna lā yaʿlamūna lawlā yukallimunā allāhu aw tatīnā āyatun ka-dhālika qalā lladhīna min qablihim mithla qawlihim tashābahat qulūbuhum qad bayyannā l-ayāti li-qawmin yūqinūna Say those without knowledge: "Why speaketh not Allah unto us? or why cometh not unto us a Sign?" So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike. We have indeed made clear the Signs unto any people who hold firmly to Faith (in their hearts). |
| (2:210) | هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ فِى ظُلَلٍ مِّنَ ٱلْغَمَامِ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَإِلَى ٱللَّـهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ | hal yanẓurūna illā an yaʾtiyahumu allāhu fī ẓulalin mina l‑ghamāmi wa‑l‑malāʾikatu wa‑quḍiya l‑amru wa‑ilā allāhi turjaʿu l‑umūru | Will they wait until Allah comes to them in canopies of clouds,
with angels (in His train) and the question is (thus) settled? but to Allah
do all questions go back (for decision).
Sura al-Baqara 2:210 هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ فِى ظُلَلٍ مِّنَ ٱلْغَمَامِ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَإِلَى ٱللَّـهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ hal yanẓurūna illā an yaʾtiyahumu allāhu fī ẓulalin mina l-ghamāmi wa-l-malāʾikatu wa-quḍiya l-amru wa-ilā allāhi turjaʿu l-umūru Will they wait until Allah comes to them in canopies of clouds, with angels (in His train) and the question is (thus) settled? but to Allah do all questions go back (for decision). |
| (2:248) | وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ءَايَةَ مُلْكِهِۦٓ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلتَّابُوتُ فِيهِ سَكِينَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ءَالُ مُوسَىٰ وَءَالُ هَٰرُونَ تَحْمِلُهُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ | wa‑qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna āyata mulkihi an yaʾtiyakumu l‑tābūtu fīhi sakīnatun min rabbikum wa‑baqīyatun mimmā taraka ālu mūsā wa‑ālu hārūna taḥmiluhu l‑malāʾikatu inna fī dhālika la‑āyatan la‑kum in kuntum muʾminīna | And (further) their Prophet said to them: "A Sign of his
authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an
assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the
family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a
symbol for you if ye indeed have faith."
Sura al-Baqara 2:248 وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ءَايَةَ مُلْكِهِۦٓ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلتَّابُوتُ فِيهِ سَكِينَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ءَالُ مُوسَىٰ وَءَالُ هَٰرُونَ تَحْمِلُهُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ wa-qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna āyata mulkihi an yaʾtiyakumu l-tābūtu fīhi sakīnatun min rabbikum wa-baqīyatun mimmā taraka ālu mūsā wa-ālu hārūna taḥmiluhu l-malāʾikatu inna fī dhālika la-āyatan la-kum in kuntum muʾminīna And (further) their Prophet said to them: "A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a symbol for you if ye indeed have faith." |
| (2:254) | يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا بَيْعٌ فِيهِ وَلَا خُلَّةٌ وَلَا شَفَٰعَةٌ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ | yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū anfiqū mimmā razaqnākum min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā bayʿun fīhi wa‑lā khullatun wa‑lā shafāʿatun wa‑l‑kāfirūna humu l‑ẓālimūna | O ye who believe! Spend out of (the bounties) We have provided
for you, before the Day comes when no bargaining (Will avail), nor
friendship nor intercession. Those who reject Faith they are the
wrong-doers.
Sura al-Baqara 2:254 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا بَيْعٌ فِيهِ وَلَا خُلَّةٌ وَلَا شَفَٰعَةٌ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū anfiqū mimmā razaqnākum min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā bayʿun fīhi wa-lā khullatun wa-lā shafāʿatun wa-l-kāfirūna humu l-ẓālimūna O ye who believe! Spend out of (the bounties) We have provided for you, before the Day comes when no bargaining (Will avail), nor friendship nor intercession. Those who reject Faith they are the wrong-doers. |
Surah 3 Āl-ʿImrān (The Family of Imran) | (3:81) | وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّـهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيْتُكُم مِّن كِتَٰبٍ وَحِكْمَةٍ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ قَالَ ءَأَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَخَذْتُمْ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمْ إِصْرِى قَالُوٓا۟ أَقْرَرْنَا قَالَ فَٱشْهَدُوا۟ وَأَنَا۠ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ | wa‑idh akhadha allāhu mīthāqa l‑nabiyyina la‑mā ātaytukum min kitābin wa‑ḥikmatin thumma jāʾakum rasūlun muṣaddiqun li‑mā maʿakum la‑tuʾminunna bihi wa‑la‑tanṣurunnahu qalā a‑aqrartum wa‑akhadhtum ʿalā dhālikum iṣrī qālū aqrarnā qalā fa‑ishhadū wa‑anā maʿakum mina l‑shāhidīna | Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying: "I give
you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is
with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye
agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree."
He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:81 وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّـهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيْتُكُم مِّن كِتَٰبٍ وَحِكْمَةٍ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ قَالَ ءَأَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَخَذْتُمْ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمْ إِصْرِى قَالُوٓا۟ أَقْرَرْنَا قَالَ فَٱشْهَدُوا۟ وَأَنَا۠ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ wa-idh akhadha allāhu mīthāqa l-nabiyyina la-mā ātaytukum min kitābin wa-ḥikmatin thumma jāʾakum rasūlun muṣaddiqun li-mā maʿakum la-tuʾminunna bihi wa-la-tanṣurunnahu qalā a-aqrartum wa-akhadhtum ʿalā dhālikum iṣrī qālū aqrarnā qalā fa-ishhadū wa-anā maʿakum mina l-shāhidīna Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses." |
| (3:183) | ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَآ أَلَّا نُؤْمِنَ لِرَسُولٍ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَنَا بِقُرْبَانٍ تَأْكُلُهُ ٱلنَّارُ قُلْ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِى بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِٱلَّذِى قُلْتُمْ فَلِمَ قَتَلْتُمُوهُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ | lladhīna qālū inna allāha ʿahida ilaynā allā numina lirasūlin ḥattā yaʾtiyanā bi‑qurbānin takuluhu l‑nāru qul qad jāʾakum rusulun min qablī bil‑bayyināti wa‑billadhī qultum falima qataltumūhum in kuntum ṣādiqīna | They (also) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in an
messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)."
Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with
what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?"
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:183 ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَآ أَلَّا نُؤْمِنَ لِرَسُولٍ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَنَا بِقُرْبَانٍ تَأْكُلُهُ ٱلنَّارُ قُلْ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِى بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِٱلَّذِى قُلْتُمْ فَلِمَ قَتَلْتُمُوهُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ lladhīna qālū inna allāha ʿahida ilaynā allā numina lirasūlin ḥattā yaʾtiyanā bi-qurbānin takuluhu l-nāru qul qad jāʾakum rusulun min qablī bil-bayyināti wa-billadhī qultum falima qataltumūhum in kuntum ṣādiqīna They (also) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in an messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)." Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?" |
Surah 4 al-Nisāʾ (The Women) | (4:15) | وَٱلَّٰتِى يَأْتِينَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةً مِّنكُمْ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّـهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا | wa‑allātī yaʾtīna l‑fāḥishata min nasāʾikum fa‑istashhidū ʿalayhinna arbaʿatan minkum fa‑in shahidū fa‑amsikūhunna fī l‑buyūti ḥattā yatawaffahunna l‑mawtu aw yajʿala allāhu la‑hunna sabīlan | If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence
of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they
testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain
for them some (other) way.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:15 وَٱلَّٰتِى يَأْتِينَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةً مِّنكُمْ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّـهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا wa-allātī yaʾtīna l-fāḥishata min nasāʾikum fa-istashhidū ʿalayhinna arbaʿatan minkum fa-in shahidū fa-amsikūhunna fī l-buyūti ḥattā yatawaffahunna l-mawtu aw yajʿala allāhu la-hunna sabīlan If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way. |
Surah 5 al-Māʾidah (The Table Spread) | (5:52) | فَتَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِيهِمْ يَقُولُونَ نَخْشَىٰٓ أَن تُصِيبَنَا دَآئِرَةٌ فَعَسَى ٱللَّـهُ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِٱلْفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦ فَيُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَسَرُّوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ نَٰدِمِينَ | fatarā lladhīna fī qulūbihim maraḍun yusāriʿūna fīhim yaqūlūna nakhsha an tuṣībanā dāʾiratun fa‑ʿaṣā allāhu an yaʾtiya bil‑fatḥi aw amrin min ʿindihi fa‑yuṣbiḥū ʿalā mā asarrū fī anfusihim nādimīna | Those in whose hearts is a disease - thou seest how eagerly
they run about amongst them, saying: "We do fear lest a change of fortune
bring us disaster." Ah! perhaps Allah will give (thee) victory, or a decision
according to His will. Then will they repent of the thoughts which they
secretly harboured in their hearts.
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:52 فَتَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِيهِمْ يَقُولُونَ نَخْشَىٰٓ أَن تُصِيبَنَا دَآئِرَةٌ فَعَسَى ٱللَّـهُ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِٱلْفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦ فَيُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَسَرُّوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ نَٰدِمِينَ fatarā lladhīna fī qulūbihim maraḍun yusāriʿūna fīhim yaqūlūna nakhsha an tuṣībanā dāʾiratun fa-ʿaṣā allāhu an yaʾtiya bil-fatḥi aw amrin min ʿindihi fa-yuṣbiḥū ʿalā mā asarrū fī anfusihim nādimīna Those in whose hearts is a disease - thou seest how eagerly they run about amongst them, saying: "We do fear lest a change of fortune bring us disaster." Ah! perhaps Allah will give (thee) victory, or a decision according to His will. Then will they repent of the thoughts which they secretly harboured in their hearts. |
Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle) | (6:4) | وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ | wa‑mā taʾtīhim min āyatin min āyāti rabbihim illā kānū ʿanhā muʿriḍīna | But never did a single one of the signs of their Lord reach
them, but they turned away therefrom.
Sura al-Anʿām 6:4 وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ wa-mā taʾtīhim min āyatin min āyāti rabbihim illā kānū ʿanhā muʿriḍīna But never did a single one of the signs of their Lord reach them, but they turned away therefrom. |
| (6:40) | قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّـهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّـهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ | qul a‑raʾaytakum in atakum ʿadhābu allāhi aw atatkumu l‑sāʿatu aghayra allāhi tadʿūna in kuntum ṣādiqīna | Say: "Think ye to yourselves, if there come upon you the wrath
of Allah, or the Hour (that ye dread), would ye then call upon other than
Allah?- (reply) if ye are truthful!
Sura al-Anʿām 6:40 قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّـهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّـهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ qul a-raʾaytakum in atakum ʿadhābu allāhi aw atatkumu l-sāʿatu aghayra allāhi tadʿūna in kuntum ṣādiqīna Say: "Think ye to yourselves, if there come upon you the wrath of Allah, or the Hour (that ye dread), would ye then call upon other than Allah?- (reply) if ye are truthful! |
| (6:47) | قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّـهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ | qul a‑raʾaytakum in atakum ʿadhābu allāhi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuhlaku illā l‑qawmu l‑ẓālimūna | Say: "Think ye, if the punishment of Allah comes to you, whether
suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed except those who do wrong?
Sura al-Anʿām 6:47 قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّـهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ qul a-raʾaytakum in atakum ʿadhābu allāhi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuhlaku illā l-qawmu l-ẓālimūna Say: "Think ye, if the punishment of Allah comes to you, whether suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed except those who do wrong? |
| (6:158) | هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَٰنُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ ءَامَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِىٓ إِيمَٰنِهَا خَيْرًا قُلِ ٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ | hal yanẓurūna illā an taʾtiyahumu l‑malāʾikatu aw yaʾtiya rabbuka aw yaʾtiya baʿḍu āyāti rabbika yawma yaʾtī baʿḍu āyāti rabbika lā yanfaʿu nafsan īmānuhā lam takun āmanat min qablu aw kasabat fī īmānihā khayran quli antaẓirū innā muntaẓirūna | Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy
Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain
of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe
in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its
faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting."
Sura al-Anʿām 6:158 هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَٰنُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ ءَامَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِىٓ إِيمَٰنِهَا خَيْرًا قُلِ ٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ hal yanẓurūna illā an taʾtiyahumu l-malāʾikatu aw yaʾtiya rabbuka aw yaʾtiya baʿḍu āyāti rabbika yawma yaʾtī baʿḍu āyāti rabbika lā yanfaʿu nafsan īmānuhā lam takun āmanat min qablu aw kasabat fī īmānihā khayran quli antaẓirū innā muntaẓirūna Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting." |
Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights) | (7:97) | أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا بَيَٰتًا وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ | a‑fa‑amina ahlu al‑qura an yaʾtiyahum baʾsunā bayātan wa‑hum nāʾimūna | Did the people of the towns feel secure against the coming of
Our wrath by night while they were asleep?
Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:97 أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا بَيَٰتًا وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ a-fa-amina ahlu al-qura an yaʾtiyahum baʾsunā bayātan wa-hum nāʾimūna Did the people of the towns feel secure against the coming of Our wrath by night while they were asleep? |
| (7:98) | أَوَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ | a‑wa‑amina ahlu al‑qura an yaʾtiyahum baʾsunā ḍuḥan wa‑hum yalʿabūna | Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad
daylight while they played about (care-free)?
Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:98 أَوَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ a-wa-amina ahlu al-qura an yaʾtiyahum baʾsunā ḍuḥan wa-hum yalʿabūna Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad daylight while they played about (care-free)? |
Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance) | (9:24) | قُلْ إِن كَانَ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلٌ ٱقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَٰرَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَٰكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَآ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَجِهَادٍ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ ٱللَّـهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦ وَٱللَّـهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ | qul in kāna ābāʾukum wa‑abnāʾukum waikhwānukum wa‑azwājukum wa‑ʿashīratukum wa‑amwālun iqtaraftumūhā wa‑tijāratun takhshawna kasādahā wa‑masākinu tarḍawnahā aḥabba ilaykum mina allāhi wa‑rasūlihi wa‑jihādin fī sabīlihi fa‑tarabbaṣū ḥattā yaʾtiya allāhu bi‑amrihi wallāhu lā yahdī l‑qawma l‑fāsiqīna | Say: If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers,
your mates, or your kindred; the wealth that ye have gained; the commerce
in which ye fear a decline: or the dwellings in which ye delight - are
dearer to you than Allah, or His Messenger, or the striving in His cause;- then
wait until Allah brings about His decision: and Allah guides not the
rebellious.
Sura al-Tawbah 9:24 قُلْ إِن كَانَ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلٌ ٱقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَٰرَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَٰكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَآ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَجِهَادٍ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ ٱللَّـهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦ وَٱللَّـهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ qul in kāna ābāʾukum wa-abnāʾukum waikhwānukum wa-azwājukum wa-ʿashīratukum wa-amwālun iqtaraftumūhā wa-tijāratun takhshawna kasādahā wa-masākinu tarḍawnahā aḥabba ilaykum mina allāhi wa-rasūlihi wa-jihādin fī sabīlihi fa-tarabbaṣū ḥattā yaʾtiya allāhu bi-amrihi wallāhu lā yahdī l-qawma l-fāsiqīna Say: If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your mates, or your kindred; the wealth that ye have gained; the commerce in which ye fear a decline: or the dwellings in which ye delight - are dearer to you than Allah, or His Messenger, or the striving in His cause;- then wait until Allah brings about His decision: and Allah guides not the rebellious. |
Surah 10 Yūnus (Jonah) | (10:24) | إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخْتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلْأَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَٱزَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَآ أَنَّهُمْ قَٰدِرُونَ عَلَيْهَآ أَتَىٰهَآ أَمْرُنَا لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًا فَجَعَلْنَٰهَا حَصِيدًا كَأَن لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِٱلْأَمْسِ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ | innamā mathalu l‑ḥayāti l‑dunyā ka‑māʾin anzalnāhu mina l‑samāʾi fa‑ikhtalaṭa bihi nabātu l‑arḍi mimmā yakulu l‑nāsu wa‑l‑anʿāmu ḥatta idhā akhadhati l‑arḍu zukhrufahā wa‑azzayyanat wa‑ẓanna ahluhā annahum qādirūna ʿalayhā atahā amrunā laylan aw nahāran fa‑jaʿalnāhā ḥaṣīdan ka‑an lam taghna bil‑amsi ka‑dhālika nufaṣṣilu l‑ayāti li‑qawmin yatafakkarūna | The likeness of the life of the present is as the rain which
We send down from the skies: by its mingling arises the produce of the
earth- which provides food for men and animals: (It grows) till the earth
is clad with its golden ornaments and is decked out (in beauty): the
people to whom it belongs think they have all powers of disposal over it:
There reaches it Our command by night or by day, and We make it like a
harvest clean-mown, as if it had not flourished only the day before! thus
do We explain the Signs in detail for those who reflect.

| (10:50) | قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَٰتًا أَوْ نَهَارًا مَّاذَا يَسْتَعْجِلُ مِنْهُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ | qul a‑raʾaytum in atakum ʿadhābuhu bayātan aw nahāran mādhā yastaʿjilu minhu l‑mujrimūna | Say: "Do ye see,- if His punishment should come to you by
night or by day,- what portion of it would the sinners wish to hasten?
Sura Yūnus 10:50 قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَٰتًا أَوْ نَهَارًا مَّاذَا يَسْتَعْجِلُ مِنْهُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ qul a-raʾaytum in atakum ʿadhābuhu bayātan aw nahāran mādhā yastaʿjilu minhu l-mujrimūna Say: "Do ye see,- if His punishment should come to you by night or by day,- what portion of it would the sinners wish to hasten? |
Surah 11 Hūd (Hud) | (11:76) | يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَآ إِنَّهُۥ قَدْ جَآءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ وَإِنَّهُمْ ءَاتِيهِمْ عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُودٍ | yā‑ibrāhīmu aʿriḍ ʿan hādhā innahu qad jāa amru rabbika wa‑innahum ātīhim ʿadhābun ghayru mardūdin | O Abraham! Seek not this. The decree of thy Lord hath gone
forth: for them there cometh a penalty that cannot be turned back!
Sura Hūd 11:76 يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَآ إِنَّهُۥ قَدْ جَآءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ وَإِنَّهُمْ ءَاتِيهِمْ عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُودٍ yā-ibrāhīmu aʿriḍ ʿan hādhā innahu qad jāa amru rabbika wa-innahum ātīhim ʿadhābun ghayru mardūdin O Abraham! Seek not this. The decree of thy Lord hath gone forth: for them there cometh a penalty that cannot be turned back! |
Surah 12 Yūsuf (Joseph) | (12:37) | قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَامٌ تُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓ إِلَّا نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمَا ذَٰلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِى رَبِّىٓ إِنِّى تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَهُم بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ | qalā lā yaʾtīkumā ṭaʿāmun turzaqānihi illā nabbatukumā bitawīlihi qabla an yatīakumā dhālikumā mimmā ʿallamanī rabbī innī taraktu millata qawmin lā yuʾminūna billāhi wa‑hum bil‑akhirati hum kāfirūna | He said: "Before any food comes (in due course) to feed either
of you, I will surely reveal to you the truth and meaning of this ere it
befall you: that is part of the (duty) which my Lord hath taught me. I have
(I assure you) abandoned the ways of a people that believe not in Allah and
that (even) deny the Hereafter.
Sura Yūsuf 12:37 قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَامٌ تُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓ إِلَّا نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمَا ذَٰلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِى رَبِّىٓ إِنِّى تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَهُم بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ qalā lā yaʾtīkumā ṭaʿāmun turzaqānihi illā nabbatukumā bitawīlihi qabla an yatīakumā dhālikumā mimmā ʿallamanī rabbī innī taraktu millata qawmin lā yuʾminūna billāhi wa-hum bil-akhirati hum kāfirūna He said: "Before any food comes (in due course) to feed either of you, I will surely reveal to you the truth and meaning of this ere it befall you: that is part of the (duty) which my Lord hath taught me. I have (I assure you) abandoned the ways of a people that believe not in Allah and that (even) deny the Hereafter. |
| (12:107) | أَفَأَمِنُوٓا۟ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَٰشِيَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ ٱللَّـهِ أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ | a‑fa‑aminū an taʾtiyahum ghāshiyatun min ʿadhābi allāhi aw taʾtiyahumu l‑sāʿatu baghtatan wa‑hum lā yashʿurūna | Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the
covering veil of the wrath of Allah,- or of the coming against them of the
(final) Hour all of a sudden while they perceive not?
Sura Yūsuf 12:107 أَفَأَمِنُوٓا۟ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَٰشِيَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ ٱللَّـهِ أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ a-fa-aminū an taʾtiyahum ghāshiyatun min ʿadhābi allāhi aw taʾtiyahumu l-sāʿatu baghtatan wa-hum lā yashʿurūna Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the wrath of Allah,- or of the coming against them of the (final) Hour all of a sudden while they perceive not? |
Surah 13 al-Raʿd (The Thunder) | (13:31) | وَلَوْ أَنَّ قُرْءَانًا سُيِّرَتْ بِهِ ٱلْجِبَالُ أَوْ قُطِّعَتْ بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَوْ كُلِّمَ بِهِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ بَل لِلَّـهِ ٱلْأَمْرُ جَمِيعًا أَفَلَمْ يَا۟يْـَٔسِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَن لَّوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّـهُ لَهَدَى ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَلَا يَزَالُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ تُصِيبُهُم بِمَا صَنَعُوا۟ قَارِعَةٌ أَوْ تَحُلُّ قَرِيبًا مِّن دَارِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ وَعْدُ ٱللَّـهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ | wa‑law annā qurʾānan suyyirat bihi l‑jibālu aw quṭṭiʿaṭ bihi l‑arḍu aw kullima bihi l‑mawtā bal lillāhi l‑amru jamīʿan a‑fa‑lam yāyʾasi lladhīna āmanū an law yashāʾu allāhu la‑hadā l‑nāsa jamīʿan wa‑lā yazālu lladhīna kafarū tuṣībuhum bi‑mā ṣanaʿū qāriʿatun aw taḥullu qarīban min dārihim ḥattā yaʾtiya waʿdu allāhi inna allāha lā yukhlifu l‑mīʿāda | If there were a Qur'an with which mountains were moved, or the
earth were cloven asunder, or the dead were made to speak, (this would be
the one!) But, truly, the command is with Allah in all things! Do not the
Believers know, that, had Allah (so) willed, He could have guided all mankind
(to the right)? But the Unbelievers,- never will disaster cease to seize
them for their (ill) deeds, or to settle close to their homes, until the
promise of Allah come to pass, for, verily, Allah will not fail in His
promise.

| (13:38) | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَذُرِّيَّةً وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ لِكُلِّ أَجَلٍ كِتَابٌ | wa‑la‑qad arsalnā rusulan min qablika wa‑jaʿalnā lahum azwājan wa‑dhurriyyatan wa‑mā kāna lirasūlin an yaʾtiya bi‑āyatin illā bi‑idhni allāhi li‑kulli ajalin kitābun | We did send messengers before thee, and appointed for them wives
and children: and it was never the part of a messenger to bring a sign
except as Allah permitted (or commanded). For each period is a Book
(revealed).
Sura al-Raʿd 13:38 وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَذُرِّيَّةً وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ لِكُلِّ أَجَلٍ كِتَابٌ wa-la-qad arsalnā rusulan min qablika wa-jaʿalnā lahum azwājan wa-dhurriyyatan wa-mā kāna lirasūlin an yaʾtiya bi-āyatin illā bi-idhni allāhi li-kulli ajalin kitābun We did send messengers before thee, and appointed for them wives and children: and it was never the part of a messenger to bring a sign except as Allah permitted (or commanded). For each period is a Book (revealed). |
Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham) | (14:31) | قُل لِّعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا بَيْعٌ فِيهِ وَلَا خِلَٰلٌ | qul li‑ʿibādiya lladhīna āmanū yuqīmū l‑ṣalāta wa‑yunfiqū mimmā razaqnāhum sirran wa‑ʿalāniyatan min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā bayʿun fīhi wa‑lā khilālun | Speak to my servants who have believed, that they may
establish regular prayers, and spend (in charity) out of the sustenance we
have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day in which
there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending.
Sura Ibrāhīm 14:31 قُل لِّعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا بَيْعٌ فِيهِ وَلَا خِلَٰلٌ qul li-ʿibādiya lladhīna āmanū yuqīmū l-ṣalāta wa-yunfiqū mimmā razaqnāhum sirran wa-ʿalāniyatan min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā bayʿun fīhi wa-lā khilālun Speak to my servants who have believed, that they may establish regular prayers, and spend (in charity) out of the sustenance we have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day in which there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending. |
Surah 15 al-Ḥijr (The Rocky Tract) | (15:11) | وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ | wa‑mā yaʾtīhim min rrasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna | But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him.
Sura al-Ḥijr 15:11 وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ wa-mā yaʾtīhim min rrasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. |
| (15:99) | وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ | wa‑iʿbud rabbaka ḥattā yaʾtiyaka l‑yaqīnu | And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is
Certain.
Sura al-Ḥijr 15:99 وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ wa-iʿbud rabbaka ḥattā yaʾtiyaka l-yaqīnu And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain. |
Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee) | (16:33) | هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ | hal yanẓurūna illā an taʾtiyahumu l‑malāʾikatu aw yaʾtiya amru rabbika ka‑dhālika faʿala lladhīna min qablihim wa‑mā ẓalamahumu allāhu wa‑lākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūna | Do the (ungodly) wait until the angels come to them, or there
comes the Command of thy Lord (for their doom)? So did those who went
before them. But Allah wronged them not: nay, they wronged their own souls.
Sura al-Naḥl 16:33 هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ hal yanẓurūna illā an taʾtiyahumu l-malāʾikatu aw yaʾtiya amru rabbika ka-dhālika faʿala lladhīna min qablihim wa-mā ẓalamahumu allāhu wa-lākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūna Do the (ungodly) wait until the angels come to them, or there comes the Command of thy Lord (for their doom)? So did those who went before them. But Allah wronged them not: nay, they wronged their own souls. |
| (16:45) | أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ | afaamina lladhīna makarū l‑sayyiʾāti an yakhsifa allāhu bihimu l‑arḍa aw yaʾtiyahumu l‑ʿadhābu min ḥaythu lā yashʿurūna | Do then those who devise evil (plots) feel secure that Allah
will not cause the earth to swallow them up, or that the Wrath will not
seize them from directions they little perceive?-
Sura al-Naḥl 16:45 أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ afaamina lladhīna makarū l-sayyiʾāti an yakhsifa allāhu bihimu l-arḍa aw yaʾtiyahumu l-ʿadhābu min ḥaythu lā yashʿurūna Do then those who devise evil (plots) feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them up, or that the Wrath will not seize them from directions they little perceive?- |
Surah 18 al-Kahf (The Cave) | (18:55) | وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ قُبُلًا | wa‑mā manaʿa l‑nāsa an yuʾminū idh jāʾahumu l‑hudā wa‑yastaghfirū rabbahum illā an taʾtiyahum sunnatu l‑awwalīna aw yaʾtiyahumu l‑ʿadhābu qubulan | And what is there to keep back men from believing, now that
Guidance has come to them, nor from praying for forgiveness from their
Lord, but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with
them, or the Wrath be brought to them face to face?
Sura al-Kahf 18:55 وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ قُبُلًا wa-mā manaʿa l-nāsa an yuʾminū idh jāʾahumu l-hudā wa-yastaghfirū rabbahum illā an taʾtiyahum sunnatu l-awwalīna aw yaʾtiyahumu l-ʿadhābu qubulan And what is there to keep back men from believing, now that Guidance has come to them, nor from praying for forgiveness from their Lord, but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with them, or the Wrath be brought to them face to face? |
Surah 20 Ṭā Hā (Ta-Ha) | (20:75) | وَمَن يَأْتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنًا قَدْ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتُ ٱلْعُلَىٰ | wa‑man yaʾtihi muʾminan qad ʿamila l‑ṣāliḥāti fa‑ūlāʾika lahumu l‑darajātu al‑ʿula | But such as come to Him as Believers who have worked righteous
deeds,- for them are ranks exalted,-
Sura Ṭā Hā 20:75 وَمَن يَأْتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنًا قَدْ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتُ ٱلْعُلَىٰ wa-man yaʾtihi muʾminan qad ʿamila l-ṣāliḥāti fa-ūlāʾika lahumu l-darajātu al-ʿula But such as come to Him as Believers who have worked righteous deeds,- for them are ranks exalted,- |
| (20:123) | قَالَ ٱهْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًۢا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًى فَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ | qalā ihbiṭā minhā jamīʿan baʿḍukum li‑baʿḍin ʿaduwwun fa‑immā yaʾtiyannakum minnī hudan fa‑mani ittabaʿa hudāya fa‑lā yaḍillu wa‑lā yashqa | He said: "Get ye down, both of you,- all together, from the
Garden, with enmity one to another: but if, as is sure, there comes to you
Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will not lose his way, nor
fall into misery.
Sura Ṭā Hā 20:123 قَالَ ٱهْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًۢا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًى فَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هُدَاىَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ qalā ihbiṭā minhā jamīʿan baʿḍukum li-baʿḍin ʿaduwwun fa-immā yaʾtiyannakum minnī hudan fa-mani ittabaʿa hudāya fa-lā yaḍillu wa-lā yashqa He said: "Get ye down, both of you,- all together, from the Garden, with enmity one to another: but if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will not lose his way, nor fall into misery. |
Surah 21 al-Anbiyāʾ (The Prophets) | (21:2) | مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِم مُّحْدَثٍ إِلَّا ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ | mā yaʾtīhim min dhikrin min rrabbihim muḥdathin illā istamaʿūhu wa‑hum yalʿabūna | Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their
Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,-
Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:2 مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِم مُّحْدَثٍ إِلَّا ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ mā yaʾtīhim min dhikrin min rrabbihim muḥdathin illā istamaʿūhu wa-hum yalʿabūna Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- |
| (21:40) | بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ | bal taʾtīhim baghtatan fa‑tabhatuhum fa‑lā yastaṭīʿūna raddahā wa‑lā hum yunẓarūna | Nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no
power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite.
Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:40 بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ bal taʾtīhim baghtatan fa-tabhatuhum fa-lā yastaṭīʿūna raddahā wa-lā hum yunẓarūna Nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite. |
Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage) | (22:55) | وَلَا يَزَالُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى مِرْيَةٍ مِّنْهُ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَقِيمٍ | wa‑lā yazālu lladhīna kafarū fī miryatin minhu ḥattā taʾtiyahumu l‑sāʿatu baghtatan aw yaʾtiyahum ʿadhābu yawmin ʿaqīmin | Those who reject Faith will not cease to be in doubt
concerning (Revelation) until the Hour (of Judgment) comes suddenly upon
them, or there comes to them the Penalty of a Day of Disaster.
Sura al-Ḥajj 22:55 وَلَا يَزَالُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى مِرْيَةٍ مِّنْهُ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَقِيمٍ wa-lā yazālu lladhīna kafarū fī miryatin minhu ḥattā taʾtiyahumu l-sāʿatu baghtatan aw yaʾtiyahum ʿadhābu yawmin ʿaqīmin Those who reject Faith will not cease to be in doubt concerning (Revelation) until the Hour (of Judgment) comes suddenly upon them, or there comes to them the Penalty of a Day of Disaster. |
Surah 26 al-Shuʿarā (The Poets) | (26:5) | وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ | wa‑mā yaʾtīhim min dhikrin mina l‑raḥmāni muḥdathin illā kānū ʿanhu muʿriḍīna | But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from
(Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.
Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:5 وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ wa-mā yaʾtīhim min dhikrin mina l-raḥmāni muḥdathin illā kānū ʿanhu muʿriḍīna But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom. |
Surah 27 al-Naml (The Ant) | (27:36) | فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَآ ءَاتَىٰنِۦَ ٱللَّـهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّآ ءَاتَىٰكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ | fa‑lammā jāa sulaymāna qalā atumiddūnani bimālin fa‑mā ātāni allāhu khayrun mimmā ātakum bal antum bihadīyatikum tafraḥūna | Now when (the embassy) came to Solomon, he said: "Will ye give
me abundance in wealth? But that which Allah has given me is better than that
which He has given you! Nay it is ye who rejoice in your gift!
Sura al-Naml 27:36 فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَآ ءَاتَىٰنِۦَ ٱللَّـهُ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّآ ءَاتَىٰكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ fa-lammā jāa sulaymāna qalā atumiddūnani bimālin fa-mā ātāni allāhu khayrun mimmā ātakum bal antum bihadīyatikum tafraḥūna Now when (the embassy) came to Solomon, he said: "Will ye give me abundance in wealth? But that which Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay it is ye who rejoice in your gift! |
Surah 30 al-Rūm (The Romans) | (30:43) | فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ ٱلْقَيِّمِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصَّدَّعُونَ | fa‑aqim wajhaka lil‑dīni l‑qayyimi min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā maradda lahu mina allāhi yawmaʾidhin yaṣṣaddaʿūna | But set thou thy face to the right Religion before there come
from Allah the Day which there is no chance of averting: on that Day shall
men be divided (in two).
Sura al-Rūm 30:43 فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ ٱلْقَيِّمِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصَّدَّعُونَ fa-aqim wajhaka lil-dīni l-qayyimi min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā maradda lahu mina allāhi yawmaʾidhin yaṣṣaddaʿūna But set thou thy face to the right Religion before there come from Allah the Day which there is no chance of averting: on that Day shall men be divided (in two). |
Surah 36 Yā Sin (Ya Sin) | (36:30) | يَٰحَسْرَةً عَلَى ٱلْعِبَادِ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ | yāḥasratan ʿalā l‑ʿibādi mā yaʾtīhim min rrasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna | Ah! Alas for (My) Servants! There comes not a messenger to them
but they mock him!
Sura Yā Sin 36:30 يَٰحَسْرَةً عَلَى ٱلْعِبَادِ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ yāḥasratan ʿalā l-ʿibādi mā yaʾtīhim min rrasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna Ah! Alas for (My) Servants! There comes not a messenger to them but they mock him! |
| (36:46) | وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ | wa‑mā taʾtīhim min āyatin min āyāti rabbihim illā kānū ʿanhā muʿriḍīna | Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord,
but they turn away therefrom.
Sura Yā Sin 36:46 وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ wa-mā taʾtīhim min āyatin min āyāti rabbihim illā kānū ʿanhā muʿriḍīna Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom. |
Surah 39 al-Zumar (The Companies) | (39:54) | وَأَنِيبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا۟ لَهُۥ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ | wa‑anībū ilā rabbikum wa‑aslimū lahu min qabli an yaʾtiyakumu l‑ʿadhābu thumma lā tunṣarūna | "Turn ye to our Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will),
before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped.
Sura al-Zumar 39:54 وَأَنِيبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا۟ لَهُۥ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ wa-anībū ilā rabbikum wa-aslimū lahu min qabli an yaʾtiyakumu l-ʿadhābu thumma lā tunṣarūna "Turn ye to our Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will), before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped. |
| (39:55) | وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟ أَحْسَنَ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ | wa‑ittabiʿū aḥsana mā unzila ilaykum min rrabbikum min qabli an yaʾtiyakumu l‑ʿadhābu baghtatan wa‑antum lā tashʿurūna | "And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from
your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you - of a sudden while ye perceive
not!-
Sura al-Zumar 39:55 وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟ أَحْسَنَ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ wa-ittabiʿū aḥsana mā unzila ilaykum min rrabbikum min qabli an yaʾtiyakumu l-ʿadhābu baghtatan wa-antum lā tashʿurūna "And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you - of a sudden while ye perceive not!- |
Surah 40 al-Ghāfir (The Forgiving One) | (40:78) | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّـهِ قُضِىَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ | wa‑la‑qad arsalnā rusulan min qablika minhum man qaṣaṣnā ʿalayka wa‑minhum man lam naqṣuṣ ʿalayka wa‑mā kāna lirasūlin an yaʾtiya bi‑āyatin illā bi‑idhni allāhi fa‑idhā jāa amru allāhi quḍiya bil‑ḥaqqi wa‑khasira hunālika l‑mubṭilūna | We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are
some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not
related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign
except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter
was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those
who stood on Falsehoods.
Sura al-Ghāfir 40:78 وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّـهِ قُضِىَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ wa-la-qad arsalnā rusulan min qablika minhum man qaṣaṣnā ʿalayka wa-minhum man lam naqṣuṣ ʿalayka wa-mā kāna lirasūlin an yaʾtiya bi-āyatin illā bi-idhni allāhi fa-idhā jāa amru allāhi quḍiya bil-ḥaqqi wa-khasira hunālika l-mubṭilūna We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. Surah 41 Fuṣṣilat (Revelations Well Expounded) | (41:40) | إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا لَا يَخْفَوْنَ عَلَيْنَآ أَفَمَن يُلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلنَّارِ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّن يَأْتِىٓ ءَامِنًا يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُمْ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ | inna lladhīna yulḥidūna fī āyātinā lā yakhfawna ʿalaynā a‑fa‑man yulqā fī l‑nāri khayrun am man yaʾtī āminan yawma l‑qiyāmati iʿmalū mā shiʾtum innahu bi‑mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun | Those who pervert the Truth in Our Signs are not hidden from
Us. Which is better?- he that is cast into the Fire, or he that comes safe
through, on the Day of Judgment? Do what ye will: verily He seeth (clearly)
all that ye do.
Sura Fuṣṣilat 41:40 إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا لَا يَخْفَوْنَ عَلَيْنَآ أَفَمَن يُلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلنَّارِ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّن يَأْتِىٓ ءَامِنًا يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُمْ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ inna lladhīna yulḥidūna fī āyātinā lā yakhfawna ʿalaynā a-fa-man yulqā fī l-nāri khayrun am man yaʾtī āminan yawma l-qiyāmati iʿmalū mā shiʾtum innahu bi-mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun Those who pervert the Truth in Our Signs are not hidden from Us. Which is better?- he that is cast into the Fire, or he that comes safe through, on the Day of Judgment? Do what ye will: verily He seeth (clearly) all that ye do. |
Surah 42 al-Shūrā (The Counsel) | (42:47) | ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَإٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍ | istajībū li‑rabbikum min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā maradda lahu mina allāhi mā la‑kum min maljaʾin yawmaʾidhin wa‑mā la‑kum min nakīrin | Hearken ye to your Lord, before there come a Day which there
will be no putting back, because of (the Ordainment of) Allah! that Day there
will be for you no place of refuge nor will there be for you any room for
denial (of your sins)!
Sura al-Shūrā 42:47 ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَإٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍ istajībū li-rabbikum min qabli an yaʾtiya yawmun lā maradda lahu mina allāhi mā la-kum min maljaʾin yawmaʾidhin wa-mā la-kum min nakīrin Hearken ye to your Lord, before there come a Day which there will be no putting back, because of (the Ordainment of) Allah! that Day there will be for you no place of refuge nor will there be for you any room for denial (of your sins)! |
Surah 43 al-Zukhruf (The Embellishment) | (43:7) | وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِىٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ | wa‑mā yaʾtīhim min nabiyyin illā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna | And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him.
Sura al-Zukhruf 43:7 وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِىٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ wa-mā yaʾtīhim min nabiyyin illā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. |
Surah 47 Muḥammad (Muhammad) | (47:18) | فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ | fa‑hal yanẓurūna illā l‑sāʿata an taʾtiyahum baghtatan fa‑qad jāa ashrāṭuhā fa‑annā lahum idhā jāʾathum dhikrāhum | Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on
them of a sudden? But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it
(actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition?
Sura Muḥammad 47:18 فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ fa-hal yanẓurūna illā l-sāʿata an taʾtiyahum baghtatan fa-qad jāa ashrāṭuhā fa-annā lahum idhā jāʾathum dhikrāhum Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on them of a sudden? But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition? |
Surah 60 al-Mumtaḥanah (She Who is Tested) | (60:11) | وَإِن فَاتَكُمْ شَىْءٌ مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْكُفَّارِ فَعَاقَبْتُمْ فَـَٔاتُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ذَهَبَتْ أَزْوَٰجُهُم مِّثْلَ مَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنتُم بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنُونَ | wa‑in fātakum shayʾun min azwājikum ilā l‑kuffāri fa‑ʿāqabtum fa‑ātū lladhīna dhahabat azwājuhum mithla mā anfaqū wattaqū allāha alladhī antum bihi muʾminūna | And if any of your wives deserts you to the Unbelievers, and
ye have an accession (by the coming over of a woman from the other side),
then pay to those whose wives have deserted the equivalent of what they had
spent (on their dower). And fear Allah, in Whom ye believe.
Sura al-Mumtaḥanah 60:11 وَإِن فَاتَكُمْ شَىْءٌ مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْكُفَّارِ فَعَاقَبْتُمْ فَـَٔاتُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ذَهَبَتْ أَزْوَٰجُهُم مِّثْلَ مَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنتُم بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنُونَ wa-in fātakum shayʾun min azwājikum ilā l-kuffāri fa-ʿāqabtum fa-ātū lladhīna dhahabat azwājuhum mithla mā anfaqū wattaqū allāha alladhī antum bihi muʾminūna And if any of your wives deserts you to the Unbelievers, and ye have an accession (by the coming over of a woman from the other side), then pay to those whose wives have deserted the equivalent of what they had spent (on their dower). And fear Allah, in Whom ye believe. |
Surah 63 al-Munāfiqūn (The Hypocrites) | (63:10) | وَأَنفِقُوا۟ مِن مَّا رَزَقْنَٰكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَآ أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ | wa‑anfiqū min mā razaqnākum min qabli an yaʾtiya aḥadakumu l‑mawtu fa‑yaqūla rabbi lawlā akhkhartanī ila ajalin qarībin fa‑aṣṣaddaqa wa‑akun mina l‑ṣāliḥīna | and spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We
have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should
say, "O my Lord! why didst Thou not give me respite for a little while? I
should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of
the doers of good".
Sura al-Munāfiqūn 63:10 وَأَنفِقُوا۟ مِن مَّا رَزَقْنَٰكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَآ أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ wa-anfiqū min mā razaqnākum min qabli an yaʾtiya aḥadakumu l-mawtu fa-yaqūla rabbi lawlā akhkhartanī ila ajalin qarībin fa-aṣṣaddaqa wa-akun mina l-ṣāliḥīna and spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should say, "O my Lord! why didst Thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good". |
