Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(2:55)

And remember ye said: "O Moses! We shall never believe in thee until we see Allah manifestly," but ye were dazed with thunder and lighting even as ye looked on.
(2:206)

When it is said to him, "Fear Allah", He is led by arrogance to (more) crime. Enough for him is Hell;-An evil bed indeed (To lie on)!
(2:255)

ٱللَّـهُ  لَآ  إِلَٰهَ  إِلَّا  هُوَ  ٱلْحَىُّ  ٱلْقَيُّومُ  لَا  تَأْخُذُهُۥ  سِنَةٌ  وَلَا  نَوْمٌ  لَّهُۥ  مَا  فِى  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَمَا  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  مَن  ذَا  ٱلَّذِى  يَشْفَعُ  عِندَهُۥٓ  إِلَّا  بِإِذْنِهِۦ  يَعْلَمُ  مَا  بَيْنَ  أَيْدِيهِمْ  وَمَا  خَلْفَهُمْ  وَلَا  يُحِيطُونَ  بِشَىْءٍ  مِّنْ  عِلْمِهِۦٓ  إِلَّا  بِمَا  شَآءَ  وَسِعَ  كُرْسِيُّهُ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضَ  وَلَا  يَـُٔودُهُۥ  حِفْظُهُمَا  وَهُوَ  ٱلْعَلِىُّ  ٱلْعَظِيمُ allāhu ilāha illā huwa l‑ḥayyu l‑qayyūmu takhudhuhu sinatun wa‑lā nawmun lahu l‑samāwāti wa‑mā l‑arḍi man dhā alladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi‑idhnihi yaʿlamu bayna aydīhim wa‑mā khalfahum wa‑lā yuḥīṭūna bi‑shayʾin min ʿilmihi illā bi‑mā shāʾa wasiʿa kursīyuhu l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍa wa‑lā yaʾūduhu ḥifẓuhumā wa‑huwa l‑ʿaliyyu l‑ʿaẓīmu
Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

Surah 4 al-Nisāʾ (The Women)
(4:21)

And how could ye take it when ye have gone in unto each other, and they have Taken from you a solemn covenant?
(4:153)

يَسْـَٔلُكَ  أَهْلُ  ٱلْكِتَٰبِ  أَن  تُنَزِّلَ  عَلَيْهِمْ  كِتَٰبًا  مِّنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  فَقَدْ  سَأَلُوا۟  مُوسَىٰٓ  أَكْبَرَ  مِن  ذَٰلِكَ  فَقَالُوٓا۟  أَرِنَا  ٱللَّـهَ  جَهْرَةً  فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ  ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ  بِظُلْمِهِمْ  ثُمَّ  ٱتَّخَذُوا۟  ٱلْعِجْلَ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  مَا  جَآءَتْهُمُ  ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ  فَعَفَوْنَا  عَن  ذَٰلِكَ  وَءَاتَيْنَا  مُوسَىٰ  سُلْطَٰنًا  مُّبِينًا yasʾaluka ahlu l‑kitābi an tunazzila ʿalayhim kitāban mina l‑samāʾi fa‑qad sāʾalū mūsā akbara min dhālika fa‑qālū arinā allāha jahratan fa‑akhadhathumu l‑ṣāʿiqatu bi‑ẓulmihim thumma ittakhadhū l‑ʿijla min baʿdi jāʾathumu l‑bayyinātu fa‑ʿafawnā ʿan dhālika wa‑ātaynā mūsā sulṭānan mubīnan
The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were dazed for their presumption, with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority.

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:78)

So the earthquake took them unawares, and they lay prostrate in their homes in the morning!
(7:91)

But the earthquake took them unawares, and they lay prostrate in their homes before the morning!

And Moses chose seventy of his people for Our place of meeting: when they were seized with violent quaking, he prayed: "O my Lord! if it had been Thy will Thou couldst have destroyed, long before, both them and me: wouldst Thou destroy us for the deeds of the foolish ones among us? this is no more than Thy trial: by it Thou causest whom Thou wilt to stray, and Thou leadest whom Thou wilt into the right path. Thou art our Protector: so forgive us and give us Thy mercy; for Thou art the best of those who forgive.

Surah 10 Yūnus (Jonah)
(10:24)

إِنَّمَا  مَثَلُ  ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ  ٱلدُّنْيَا  كَمَآءٍ  أَنزَلْنَٰهُ  مِنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  فَٱخْتَلَطَ  بِهِۦ  نَبَاتُ  ٱلْأَرْضِ  مِمَّا  يَأْكُلُ  ٱلنَّاسُ  وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ  حَتَّىٰٓ  إِذَآ  أَخَذَتِ  ٱلْأَرْضُ  زُخْرُفَهَا  وَٱزَّيَّنَتْ  وَظَنَّ  أَهْلُهَآ  أَنَّهُمْ  قَٰدِرُونَ  عَلَيْهَآ  أَتَىٰهَآ  أَمْرُنَا  لَيْلًا  أَوْ  نَهَارًا  فَجَعَلْنَٰهَا  حَصِيدًا  كَأَن  لَّمْ  تَغْنَ  بِٱلْأَمْسِ  كَذَٰلِكَ  نُفَصِّلُ  ٱلْأَيَٰتِ  لِقَوْمٍ  يَتَفَكَّرُونَ innamā mathalu l‑ḥayāti l‑dunyā ka‑māʾin anzalnāhu mina l‑samāʾi fa‑ikhtalaṭa bihi nabātu l‑arḍi mimmā yakulu l‑nāsu wa‑l‑anʿāmu ḥatta idhā akhadhati l‑arḍu zukhrufahā wa‑azzayyanat wa‑ẓanna ahluhā annahum qādirūna ʿalayhā atahā amrunā laylan aw nahāran fa‑jaʿalnāhā ḥaṣīdan ka‑an lam taghna bil‑amsi ka‑dhālika nufaṣṣilu l‑ayāti li‑qawmin yatafakkarūna
The likeness of the life of the present is as the rain which We send down from the skies: by its mingling arises the produce of the earth- which provides food for men and animals: (It grows) till the earth is clad with its golden ornaments and is decked out (in beauty): the people to whom it belongs think they have all powers of disposal over it: There reaches it Our command by night or by day, and We make it like a harvest clean-mown, as if it had not flourished only the day before! thus do We explain the Signs in detail for those who reflect.

Surah 11 Hūd (Hud)
(11:94)

When Our decree issued, We saved Shu'aib and those who believed with him, by (special) mercy from Ourselves: But the (mighty) blast did seize the wrong-doers, and they lay prostrate in their homes by the morning,-

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:68)

And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations;

Surah 19 Maryam (Mary)

She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.

Surah 23 al-Muʾminūn (The Believers)

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ  ٱلصَّيْحَةُ  بِٱلْحَقِّ  فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ  غُثَآءً  فَبُعْدًا  لِّلْقَوْمِ  ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ fa‑akhadhathumu l‑ṣayḥatu bil‑ḥaqqi fa‑jaʿalnāhum ghuthāʾan fa‑buʿdan lil‑qawmi l‑ẓālimīna
Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong!

The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.

Surah 29 al-ʿAnkabūt (The Spider)
(29:37)

Each one of them We seized for his crime: of them, against some We sent a violent tornado (with showers of stones); some were caught by a (mighty) Blast; some We caused the earth to swallow up; and some We drowned (in the waters): It was not Allah Who injured (or oppressed) them:" They injured (and oppressed) their own souls.
(29:41)

مَثَلُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  ٱتَّخَذُوا۟  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  أَوْلِيَآءَ  كَمَثَلِ  ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ  ٱتَّخَذَتْ  بَيْتًا  وَإِنَّ  أَوْهَنَ  ٱلْبُيُوتِ  لَبَيْتُ  ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ  لَوْ  كَانُوا۟  يَعْلَمُونَ mathalu lladhīna ittakhadhū min dūni allāhi awliyāʾa ka‑mathali l‑ʿankabūti ittakhadhat baytan wa‑inna awhana l‑buyūti la‑baytu l‑ʿankabūti law kānū yaʿlamūna

Surah 36 Yā Sin (Ya Sin)
(36:49)

They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves!

As to the Thamud, We gave them Guidance, but they preferred blindness (of heart) to Guidance: so the stunning Punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned.

But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on.
