Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(9:23)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  لَا  تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟  ءَابَآءَكُمْ  وَإِخْوَٰنَكُمْ  أَوْلِيَآءَ  إِنِ  ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟  ٱلْكُفْرَ  عَلَى  ٱلْإِيمَٰنِ  وَمَن  يَتَوَلَّهُم  مِّنكُمْ  فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  هُمُ  ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū tattakhidhū ābāʾakum waikhwānakum awliyāʾa ini istaḥabbū l‑kufra ʿalā l‑īmāni wa‑man yatawallahum minkum fa‑ūlāʾika humu l‑ẓālimūna
O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong.

Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham)
(14:3)

ٱلَّذِينَ  يَسْتَحِبُّونَ  ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ  ٱلدُّنْيَا  عَلَى  ٱلْأَخِرَةِ  وَيَصُدُّونَ  عَن  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَيَبْغُونَهَا  عِوَجًا  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  فِى  ضَلَٰلٍۭ  بَعِيدٍ lladhīna yastaḥibbūna l‑ḥayāta l‑dunyā ʿalā l‑akhirati wa‑yaṣuddūna ʿan sabīli allāhi wa‑yabghūnahā ʿiwajan ulāʾika ḍalālin baʿīdin
Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance.

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:107)

This because they love the life of this world better than the Hereafter: and Allah will not guide those who reject Faith.

Surah 41 Fuṣṣilat (Revelations Well Expounded)
(41:17)

As to the Thamud, We gave them Guidance, but they preferred blindness (of heart) to Guidance: so the stunning Punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned.
