Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(2:115)

To Allah belong the east and the West: Whithersoever ye turn, there is the presence of Allah. For Allah is all-Pervading, all-Knowing.
(2:142)

سَيَقُولُ  ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ  مِنَ  ٱلنَّاسِ  مَا  وَلَّىٰهُمْ  عَن  قِبْلَتِهِمُ  ٱلَّتِى  كَانُوا۟  عَلَيْهَا  قُل  لِلَّـهِ  ٱلْمَشْرِقُ  وَٱلْمَغْرِبُ  يَهْدِى  مَن  يَشَآءُ  إِلَىٰ  صِرَٰطٍ  مُّسْتَقِيمٍ sa‑yaqūlu l‑sufahāʾu mina l‑nāsi wallāhum ʿan qiblatihimu allatī kānū ʿalayhā qul lillāhi l‑mashriqu wa‑l‑maghribu yahdī man yashāʾu ilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin
The fools among the people will say: "What hath turned them from the Qibla to which they were used?" Say: To Allah belong both east and West: He guideth whom He will to a Way that is straight.
(2:177)

It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah-fearing.
(2:258)

Hast thou not Turned thy vision to one who disputed with Abraham About his Lord, because Allah had granted him power? Abraham said: "My Lord is He Who Giveth life and death." He said: "I give life and death". Said Abraham: "But it is Allah that causeth the sun to rise from the east: Do thou then cause him to rise from the West." Thus was he confounded who (in arrogance) rejected faith. Nor doth Allah Give guidance to a people unjust.

Surah 5 al-Māʾidah (The Table Spread)
(5:31)

فَبَعَثَ  ٱللَّـهُ  غُرَابًا  يَبْحَثُ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  لِيُرِيَهُۥ  كَيْفَ  يُوَٰرِى  سَوْءَةَ  أَخِيهِ  قَالَ  يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ  أَعَجَزْتُ  أَنْ  أَكُونَ  مِثْلَ  هَٰذَا  ٱلْغُرَابِ  فَأُوَٰرِىَ  سَوْءَةَ  أَخِى  فَأَصْبَحَ  مِنَ  ٱلنَّٰدِمِينَ fa‑baʿatha allāhu ghurāban yabḥathu l‑arḍi li‑yuriyahu kayfa yuwārī sawata akhīhi qalā yāwaylata aʿajaztu an akūna mithla hādhā l‑ghurābi fa‑uwāriya sawata akhī fa‑aṣbaḥa mina l‑nādimīna
Then Allah sent a raven, who scratched the ground, to show him how to hide the shame of his brother. "Woe is me!" said he; "Was I not even able to be as this raven, and to hide the shame of my brother?" then he became full of regrets-

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:137)

And We made a people, considered weak (and of no account), inheritors of lands in both east and west, - lands whereon We sent down Our blessings. The fair promise of thy Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel, because they had patience and constancy, and We levelled to the ground the great works and fine buildings which Pharaoh and his people erected (with such pride).

Surah 18 al-Kahf (The Cave)
(18:17)

وَتَرَى  ٱلشَّمْسَ  إِذَا  طَلَعَت  تَّزَٰوَرُ  عَن  كَهْفِهِمْ  ذَاتَ  ٱلْيَمِينِ  وَإِذَا  غَرَبَت  تَّقْرِضُهُمْ  ذَاتَ  ٱلشِّمَالِ  وَهُمْ  فِى  فَجْوَةٍ  مِّنْهُ  ذَٰلِكَ  مِنْ  ءَايَٰتِ  ٱللَّـهِ  مَن  يَهْدِ  ٱللَّـهُ  فَهُوَ  ٱلْمُهْتَدِ  وَمَن  يُضْلِلْ  فَلَن  تَجِدَ  لَهُۥ  وَلِيًّا  مُّرْشِدًا wa‑tara l‑shamsa idhā ṭalaʿat ttazāwaru ʿan kahfihim dhāta l‑yamīni wa‑idhā gharabat ttaqriḍuhum dhāta l‑shimāli wa‑hum fajwatin minhu dhālika min āyāti allāhi man yahdi allāhu fa‑huwa l‑muhtadi wa‑man yuḍlil fa‑lan tajida lahu waliyyan murshidan
Thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the Cave. Such are among the Signs of Allah: He whom Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the Right Way.
(18:86)

حَتَّىٰٓ  إِذَا  بَلَغَ  مَغْرِبَ  ٱلشَّمْسِ  وَجَدَهَا  تَغْرُبُ  فِى  عَيْنٍ  حَمِئَةٍ  وَوَجَدَ  عِندَهَا  قَوْمًا  قُلْنَا  يَٰذَا  ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ  إِمَّآ  أَن  تُعَذِّبَ  وَإِمَّآ  أَن  تَتَّخِذَ  فِيهِمْ  حُسْنًا ḥatta idhā balagha maghriba l‑shamsi wajadahā taghrubu ʿaynin ḥamiʾatin wa‑wajada ʿindahā qawman qulnā yādhā l‑qarnayni immā an tuʿadhdhiba waimmā an tattakhidha fīhim ḥusnan
Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness."

Surah 20 Ṭā Hā (Ta-Ha)
(20:130)

فَٱصْبِرْ  عَلَىٰ  مَا  يَقُولُونَ  وَسَبِّحْ  بِحَمْدِ  رَبِّكَ  قَبْلَ  طُلُوعِ  ٱلشَّمْسِ  وَقَبْلَ  غُرُوبِهَا  وَمِنْ  ءَانَآئِ  ٱلَّيْلِ  فَسَبِّحْ  وَأَطْرَافَ  ٱلنَّهَارِ  لَعَلَّكَ  تَرْضَىٰ fa‑iṣbir ʿalā yaqūlūna wa‑sabbiḥ bi‑ḥamdi rabbika qabla ṭulūʿi l‑shamsi wa‑qabla ghurūbihā wa‑min ānāʾi l‑layli fa‑sabbiḥ wa‑aṭrāfa l‑nahāri laʿallaka tarḍā
Therefore be patient with what they say, and celebrate (constantly) the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun, and before its setting; yea, celebrate them for part of the hours of the night, and at the sides of the day: that thou mayest have (spiritual) joy.

Surah 24 al-Nūr (The Light)
(24:35)

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

Surah 26 al-Shuʿarā (The Poets)
(26:28)

قَالَ  رَبُّ  ٱلْمَشْرِقِ  وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ  وَمَا  بَيْنَهُمَآ  إِن  كُنتُمْ  تَعْقِلُونَ qalā rabbu l‑mashriqi wa‑l‑maghribi wa‑mā baynahumā in kuntum taʿqilūna
(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"

Surah 28 al-Qaṣaṣ (The Narrative)
(28:44)

Thou wast not on the Western side when We decreed the Commission to Moses, nor wast thou a witness (of those events).

Surah 35 al-Faṭīr (The Creator)
(35:27)

أَلَمْ  تَرَ  أَنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  أَنزَلَ  مِنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مَآءً  فَأَخْرَجْنَا  بِهِۦ  ثَمَرَٰتٍ  مُّخْتَلِفًا  أَلْوَٰنُهَا  وَمِنَ  ٱلْجِبَالِ  جُدَدٌۢ  بِيضٌ  وَحُمْرٌ  مُّخْتَلِفٌ  أَلْوَٰنُهَا  وَغَرَابِيبُ  سُودٌ a‑lam tara annā allāha anzala mina l‑samāʾi māʾan fa‑akhrajnā bihi thamarātin mukhtalifan alwānuhā wa‑mina l‑jibāli judadun bīḍun wa‑ḥumrun mukhtalifun alwānuhā wa‑gharābību sūdun
Seest thou not that Allah sends down rain from the sky? With it We then bring out produce of various colours. And in the mountains are tracts white and red, of various shades of colour, and black intense in hue.

Surah 70 al-Maʿārij (The Ladders)
(70:40)

Now I do call to witness the Lord of all points in the East and the West that We can certainly-

Surah 73 al-Muzzammil (The Mantled One)
(73:9)

(He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs.
