Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:95

لَّا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْقَٰعِدُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُو۟لِى ٱلضَّرَرِ وَٱلْمُجَٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فَضَّلَ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ عَلَى ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ دَرَجَةً وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَفَضَّلَ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ عَلَى ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

lā yastawī l-qāʿidūna mina l-muʾminīna ghayru ūlī l-ḍarari wa-l-mujāhidūna fī sabīli allāhi bi-amwālihim wa-anfusihim faḍḍala allāhu l-mujāhidīna bi-amwālihim wa-anfusihim ʿalā l-qāʿidīna darajatan wa-kullan waʿada allāhu l-ḥusnā wa-faḍḍala allāhu l-mujāhidīna ʿalā l-qāʿidīna ajran ʿaẓīman

Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:53

وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَعَكُمْ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ

wayaqūlu lladhīna āmanū a-hāʾulāʾi lladhīna aqsamū billāhi jahda aymānihim innahum lamaʿakum ḥabiṭat aʿmāluhum fa-aṣbaḥū khāsirīna

And those who believe will say: "Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by Allah, that they were with you?" All that they do will be in vain, and they will fall into (nothing but) ruin.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:109

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ لَّيُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْأَيَٰتُ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَا يُشْعِرُكُمْ أَنَّهَآ إِذَا جَآءَتْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

wa-aqsamū billāhi jahda aymānihim lain jāʾathum āyatun llayuminunna bihā qul innamā l-ayātu ʿinda allāhi wa-mā yushʿirukum annahā idhā jāʾat lā yuʾminūna

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that if a (special) sign came to them, by it they would believe. Say: "Certainly (all) signs are in the power of Allah: but what will make you (Muslims) realise that (even) if (special) signs came, they will not believe."?

Sura al-Tawbah 9:79

ٱلَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ ٱلْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ سَخِرَ ٱللَّـهُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

lladhīna yalmizūna l-muṭṭawwiʿīna mina l-muʾminīna fī l-ṣadaqāti wa-lladhīna lā yajidūna illā juhdahum fa-yaskharūna minhum sakhira allāhu minhum wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun

Those who slander such of the believers as give themselves freely to (deeds of) charity, as well as such as can find nothing to give except the fruits of their labour,- and throw ridicule on them,- Allah will throw back their ridicule on them: and they shall have a grievous penalty.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:38

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَا يَبْعَثُ ٱللَّـهُ مَن يَمُوتُ بَلَىٰ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-aqsamū billāhi jahda aymānihim lā yabʿathu allāhu man yamūtu balā waʿdan ʿalayhi ḥaqqan wa-lākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūna

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that Allah will not raise up those who die: Nay, but it is a promise (binding) on Him in truth: but most among mankind realise it not.

Sura al-Nūr 24:53

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِنْ أَمَرْتَهُمْ لَيَخْرُجُنَّ قُل لَّا تُقْسِمُوا۟ طَاعَةٌ مَّعْرُوفَةٌ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

wa-aqsamū billāhi jahda aymānihim lain amartahum la-yakhrujunna qul lā tuqsimū ṭāʿatun maʿrūfatun inna allāha khabīrun bi-mā taʿmalūna

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah that, if only thou wouldst command them, they would leave (their homes). Say: "Swear ye not; Obedience is (more) reasonable; verily, Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do."

Sura al-Furqān 25:52

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَجَٰهِدْهُم بِهِۦ جِهَادًا كَبِيرًا

fa-lā tuṭiʿi l-kāfirīna wa-jāhidhum bihi jihādan kabīran

Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur'an).

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:42

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْ إِحْدَى ٱلْأُمَمِ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌ مَّا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا

wa-aqsamū billāhi jahda aymānihim lain jāʾahum nadhīrun la-yakūnunna ahdā min iḥda l-umami fa-lammā jāʾahum nadhīrun mā zādahum illā nufūran

They swore their strongest oaths by Allah that if a warner came to them, they would follow his guidance better than any (other) of the Peoples: But when a warner came to them, it has only increased their flight (from righteousness),-

Sura Muḥammad 47:31

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَا۟ أَخْبَارَكُمْ

wa-la-nabluwannakum ḥattā naʿlama l-mujāhidīna minkum wa-l-ṣābirīna wa-nabluwā akhbārakum

And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; and We shall try your reported (mettle).

Sura al-Mumtaḥanah 60:1

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ عَدُوِّى وَعَدُوَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ تُلْقُونَ إِلَيْهِم بِٱلْمَوَدَّةِ وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِمَا جَآءَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْحَقِّ يُخْرِجُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَن تُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ رَبِّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ خَرَجْتُمْ جِهَٰدًا فِى سَبِيلِى وَٱبْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِى تُسِرُّونَ إِلَيْهِم بِٱلْمَوَدَّةِ وَأَنَا۠ أَعْلَمُ بِمَآ أَخْفَيْتُمْ وَمَآ أَعْلَنتُمْ وَمَن يَفْعَلْهُ مِنكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū ʿaduwwī wa-ʿaduwwakum awliyāʾa tulqūna ilayhim bil-mawaddati wa-qad kafarū bi-mā jāʾakum mina l-ḥaqqi yukhrijūna l-rasūla wa-iyyākum an tūʾminū billāhi rabbikum in kuntum kharajtum jihādan fī sabīlī wa-ibtighāʾa marḍātī tusirrūna ilayhim bil-mawaddati wa-anā aʿlamu bimā akhfaytum wa-mā aʿlantum wa-man yafʿalhu minkum fa-qad ḍalla sawāʾa l-sabīli

O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),- offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.
