Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:16

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

a-idhā mitnā wa-kunnā turāban wa-ʿiẓāman a-innā la-mabʿūthūna

"What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:21

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

hādhā yawmu l-faṣli alladhī kuntum bihi tukadhdhibūna

(A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!"

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:22

ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ

iḥshurū lladhīna ẓalamū wa-azwājahum wa-mā kānū yaʿbudūna

"Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:28

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ

qālū innakum kuntum taʾtūnanā ʿani l-yamīni

They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!"

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:29

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ

qālū bal lam takūnū muminīna

They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:30

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَٰغِينَ

wa-mā kāna la-nā ʿalaykum min sulṭānin bal kuntum qawman ṭāghīna

"Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:32

فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ

fa-aghwaynākum innā kunnā ghāwīna

"We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray."

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:35

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّـهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ

innahum kānū idhā qīla lahum lā ilāha illā allāhu yastakbirūna

For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:39

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

wa-mā tujzawna illā mā kuntum taʿmalūna

But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;-

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:51

قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ

qalā qāʾilun minhum innī kāna lī qarīnun

One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth),

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:53

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ

a-idhā mitnā wa-kunnā turāban wa-ʿiẓāman a-innā lamadīnūna

"'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'"

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:57

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ

wa-lawlā niʿmatu rabbī la-kuntu mina l-muḥḍarīna

"Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)!

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:73

فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ

fa-inẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mundharīna

Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),-

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:116

وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ

wa-naṣarnāhum fakānū humu l-ghālibīna

And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles);

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:141

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ

fa-sāhama fa-kāna mina l-mudḥaḍīna

He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned:

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:143

فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ

fa-lawlā annahu kāna mina l-musabbiḥīna

Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah,

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:157

فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

fa-ʾtū bi-kitābikum in kuntum ṣādiqīna

Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:167

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ

wa-in kānū la-yaqūlūna

And there were those who said,

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:169

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ

la-kunnā ʿibāda allāhi l-mukhlaṣīna

"We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!"
