Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:54

وَمَكَرُوا۟ وَمَكَرَ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱللَّـهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَٰكِرِينَ

wa-makarū wa-makara allāhu wallāhu khayru l-mākirīna

And (the unbelievers) plotted and planned, and Allah too planned, and the best of planners is Allah.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:99

أَفَأَمِنُوا۟ مَكْرَ ٱللَّـهِ فَلَا يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ ٱللَّـهِ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ

a-fa-aminū makra allāhi fa-lā yamanu makra allāhi illā l-qawmu l-khāsirūna

Did they then feel secure against the plan of Allah?- but no one can feel secure from the Plan of Allah, except those (doomed) to ruin!

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:123

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَمَكْرٌ مَّكَرْتُمُوهُ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ لِتُخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهَآ أَهْلَهَا فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

qalā firʿawun āmantum bihi qabla an ādhana la-kum inna hādhā lamakrun makartumūhu fī l-madīnati li-tukhrijū minhā ahlahā fa-sawfa taʿlamūna

Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences).

Sura al-Anfāl 8:30

وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱللَّـهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَٰكِرِينَ

wa-idh yamkuru bika lladhīna kafarū li-yuthbitūka aw yaqtulūka aw yukhrijūka wa-yamkurūna wa-yamkuru allāhu wallāhu khayru l-mākirīna

Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home). They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah.

Sura Yūnus 10:21

وَإِذَآ أَذَقْنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحْمَةً مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُمْ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكْرٌ فِىٓ ءَايَاتِنَا قُلِ ٱللَّـهُ أَسْرَعُ مَكْرًا إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا يَكْتُبُونَ مَا تَمْكُرُونَ

wa-idhā adhaqnā l-nāsa raḥmatan min baʿdi ḍarrāʾa massathum idhā lahum makrun fī āyātinā quli allāhu asraʿu makran inna rusulanā yaktubūna mā tamkurūna

When We make mankind taste of some mercy after adversity hath touched them, behold! they take to plotting against Our Signs! Say: "Swifter to plan is Allah!" Verily, Our messengers record all the plots that ye make!

Sura Yūsuf 12:31

فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِمَكْرِهِنَّ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَـًٔا وَءَاتَتْ كُلَّ وَٰحِدَةٍ مِّنْهُنَّ سِكِّينًا وَقَالَتِ ٱخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُۥٓ أَكْبَرْنَهُۥ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَٰشَ لِلَّـهِ مَا هَٰذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ

fa-lammā samiʿat bimakrihinna arsalat ilayhinna wa-aʿtadat la-hunna muttakaʾan wa-ātat kulla wāḥidatin minhunna sikkīnan wa-qālati ikhruj ʿalayhinna fa-lammā raaynahu akbarnahu wa-qaṭṭaʿna aydiyahunna wa-qulna ḥāsha lillāhi mā hādhā basharan in hādhā illā malakun karīmun

When she heard of their malicious talk, she sent for them and prepared a banquet for them: she gave each of them a knife: and she said (to Joseph), "Come out before them." When they saw him, they did extol him, and (in their amazement) cut their hands: they said, "Allah preserve us! no mortal is this! this is none other than a noble angel!"

Sura al-Raʿd 13:33

أَفَمَنْ هُوَ قَآئِمٌ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّـهِ شُرَكَآءَ قُلْ سَمُّوهُمْ أَمْ تُنَبِّـُٔونَهُۥ بِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَم بِظَٰهِرٍ مِّنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ بَلْ زُيِّنَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مَكْرُهُمْ وَصُدُّوا۟ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّـهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ

afaman huwa qāʾimun ʿalā kulli nafsin bi-mā kasabat wa-jaʿalū lillāhi shurakāʾa qul sammūhum am tunabbiʾūnahu bi-mā lā yaʿlamu fī l-arḍi am biẓāhirin mina l-qawli bal zuyyina li-lladhīna kafarū makruhum wa-ṣuddū ʿani l-sabīli wa-man yuḍlili allāhu fa-mā lahu min hādin

Is then He who standeth over every soul (and knoweth) all that it doth, (like any others)? And yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: "But name them! is it that ye will inform Him of something he knoweth not on earth, or is it (just) a show of words?" Nay! to those who believe not, their pretence seems pleasing, but they are kept back (thereby) from the path. And those whom Allah leaves to stray, no one can guide.

Sura al-Raʿd 13:42

وَقَدْ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَكْرُ جَمِيعًا يَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْسِبُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلْكُفَّٰرُ لِمَنْ عُقْبَى ٱلدَّارِ

wa-qad makara lladhīna min qablihim fa-lillahi l-makru jamīʿan yaʿlamu mā taksibu kullu nafsin wa-sa-yaʿlamu l-kuffāru liman ʿuqba l-dāri

Those before them did (also) devise plots; but in all things the master-planning is Allah's He knoweth the doings of every soul: and soon will the Unbelievers know who gets home in the end.

Sura Ibrāhīm 14:46

وَقَدْ مَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرَهُمْ وَعِندَ ٱللَّـهِ مَكْرُهُمْ وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ ٱلْجِبَالُ

wa-qad makarū makrahum wa-ʿinda allāhi makruhum wa-in kāna makruhum li-tazūla minhu l-jibālu

Mighty indeed were the plots which they made, but their plots were (well) within the sight of Allah, even though they were such as to shake the hills!

Sura al-Naml 27:50

وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

wa-makarū makran wa-makarnā makran wa-hum lā yashʿurūna

They plotted and planned, but We too planned, even while they perceived it not.

Sura al-Naml 27:51

فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

fa-inẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu makrihim annā dammarnāhum wa-qawmahum ajmaʿīna

Then see what was the end of their plot!- this, that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them).

Sura Sabaʾ 34:33

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ بَلْ مَكْرُ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذْ تَأْمُرُونَنَآ أَن نَّكْفُرَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَنَجْعَلَ لَهُۥٓ أَندَادًا وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلْأَغْلَٰلَ فِىٓ أَعْنَاقِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

wa-qāla lladhīna istuḍʿifū li-lladhīna istakbarū bal makru l-layli wa-l-nahāri idh taʾmurūnanā an nnakfura billāhi wa-najʿala lahu andādan wa-asarrū l-nadāmata lammā raʾawu l-ʿadhāba wa-jaʿalnā l-aghlāla fī aʿnāqi lladhīna kafarū hal yujzawna illā mā kānū yaʿmalūna

Those who had been despised will say to the arrogant ones: "Nay! it was a plot (of yours) by day and by night: Behold! Ye (constantly) ordered us to be ungrateful to Allah and to attribute equals to Him!" They will declare (their) repentance when they see the Penalty: We shall put yokes on the necks of the Unbelievers: It would only be a requital for their (ill) Deeds.

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:10

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ٱلْعِزَّةَ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْعِزَّةُ جَمِيعًا إِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ ٱلْكَلِمُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ وَٱلْعَمَلُ ٱلصَّٰلِحُ يَرْفَعُهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَمْكُرُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَكْرُ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُوَ يَبُورُ

man kāna yurīdu l-ʿizzata fa-lillahi l-ʿizzatu jamīʿan ilayhi yaṣʿadu l-kalimu l-ṭayyibu wa-l-ʿamalu l-ṣāliḥu yarfaʿuhu wa-lladhīna yamkurūna l-sayyiʾāti lahum ʿadhābun shadīdun wa-makru ulāʾika huwa yabūru

If any do seek for glory and power,- to Allah belong all glory and power. To Him mount up (all) Words of Purity: It is He Who exalts each Deed of Righteousness. Those that lay Plots of Evil,- for them is a Penalty terrible; and the plotting of such will be void (of result).

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:43

ٱسْتِكْبَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ ٱلسَّيِّئِ وَلَا يَحِيقُ ٱلْمَكْرُ ٱلسَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِۦ فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّـهِ تَبْدِيلًا وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّـهِ تَحْوِيلًا

istikbāran fī l-arḍi wa-makra l-sayyiʾi wa-lā yaḥīqu l-makru l-sayyiʾu illā biahlihi fa-hal yanẓurūna illā sunnata l-awwalīna fa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi tabdīlan wa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi taḥwīlan

On account of their arrogance in the land and their plotting of Evil, but the plotting of Evil will hem in only the authors thereof. Now are they but looking for the way the ancients were dealt with? But no change wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing): no turning off wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing).

Sura Nūḥ 71:22

وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا

wa-makarū makran kubbāran

"And they have devised a tremendous Plot.
