Sura al-Raʿd 13:32

وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَمْلَيْتُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ

wa-la-qadi ustuhziʾa birusulin min qablika fa-amlaytu li-lladhīna kafarū thumma akhadhtuhum fa-kayfa kāna ʿiqābi

Mocked were (many) messengers before thee: but I granted respite to the unbelievers, and finally I punished them: Then how (terrible) was my requital!
