Sura Hūd 11:80

قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ لِى بِكُمْ قُوَّةً أَوْ ءَاوِىٓ إِلَىٰ رُكْنٍ شَدِيدٍ

qalā law annā lī bikum quwwatan aw āwī ilā ruknin shadīdin

He said: "Would that I had power to suppress you or that I could betake myself to some powerful support."

Sura Hūd 11:102

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَآ أَخَذَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَهِىَ ظَٰلِمَةٌ إِنَّ أَخْذَهُۥٓ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ

wa-ka-dhālika akhdhu rabbika idhā akhadha l-qurā wahiya ẓālimatun inna akhdhahu alīmun shadīdun

Such is the chastisement of thy Lord when He chastises communities in the midst of their wrong: grievous, indeed, and severe is His chastisement.

Sura Ibrāhīm 14:2

ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ

allāhi alladhī lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-arḍi wa-waylun lil-kāfirīna min ʿadhābin shadīdin

Of Allah, to Whom do belong all things in the heavens and on earth! But alas for the Unbelievers for a terrible penalty (their Unfaith will bring them)!-

Sura Ibrāhīm 14:7

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِى لَشَدِيدٌ

wa-idh taʾadhdhana rabbukum lain shakartum la-azīdannakum wa-laʾin kafartum inna ʿadhābī la-shadīdun

And remember! your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): "If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; But if ye show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed."

Sura al-Ḥajj 22:2

يَوْمَ تَرَوْنَهَا تَذْهَلُ كُلُّ مُرْضِعَةٍ عَمَّآ أَرْضَعَتْ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلنَّاسَ سُكَٰرَىٰ وَمَا هُم بِسُكَٰرَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّ عَذَابَ ٱللَّـهِ شَدِيدٌ

yawma tarawnahā tadhhalu kullu murḍiʿatin ʿammā arḍaʿat wa-taḍaʿu kullu dhāti ḥamlin ḥamlahā wa-tara l-nāsa sukāra wa-mā hum bi-sukārā wa-lākinna ʿadhāba allāhi shadīdun

The Day ye shall see it, every mother giving suck shall forget her suckling-babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load (unformed): thou shalt see mankind as in a drunken riot, yet not drunk: but dreadful will be the Wrath of Allah.

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:11

هُنَالِكَ ٱبْتُلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ زِلْزَالًا شَدِيدًا

hunālika ibtuliya l-muʾminūna wa-zulzilū zilzālan shadīdan

In that situation were the Believers tried: they were shaken as by a tremendous shaking.

Sura Sabaʾ 34:46

قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَعِظُكُم بِوَٰحِدَةٍ أَن تَقُومُوا۟ لِلَّـهِ مَثْنَىٰ وَفُرَٰدَىٰ ثُمَّ تَتَفَكَّرُوا۟ مَا بِصَاحِبِكُم مِّن جِنَّةٍ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ لَّكُم بَيْنَ يَدَىْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ

qul innamā aʿiẓukum bi-wāḥidatin an taqūmū lillāhi mathna wa-furāda thumma tatafakkarū mā bi-ṣāḥibikum min jinnatin in huwa illā nadhīrun llakum bayna yada ʿadhābin shadīdin

Say: "I do admonish you on one point: that ye do stand up before Allah,- (It may be) in pairs, or (it may be) singly,- and reflect (within yourselves): your Companion is not possessed: he is no less than a warner to you, in face of a terrible Penalty."

Sura al-Shūrā 42:16

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱللَّـهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ٱسْتُجِيبَ لَهُۥ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

wa-lladhīna yuḥājjūna fī allāhi min baʿdi mā istujība lahu ḥujjatuhum dāḥiḍatun ʿinda rabbihim wa-ʿalayhim ghaḍabun wa-lahum ʿadhābun shadīdun

But those who dispute concerning Allah after He has been accepted,- futile is their dispute in the Sight of their Lord: on them will be a Penalty terrible.

Sura al-Shūrā 42:26

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

wa-yastajību lladhīna āmanū wa-ʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti wa-yazīduhum min faḍlihi wa-l-kāfirūna lahum ʿadhābun shadīdun

And He listens to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, and gives them increase of His Bounty: but for the Unbelievers their is a terrible Penalty.

Sura Qāf 50:26

ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ مَعَ ٱللَّـهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلشَّدِيدِ

alladhī jaʿala maʿa allāhi ilāhan ākhara fa-alqiyāhu fī l-ʿadhābi l-shadīdi

"Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty."

Sura al-Nabaʾ 78:12

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا

wa-banaynā fawqakum sabʿan shidādan

And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments,

Sura al-Burūj 85:12

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

inna baṭsha rabbika la-shadīdun

Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.

Sura al-ʿĀdiyāt 100:8

وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ

wa-innahu liḥubbi l-khayri la-shadīdun

And violent is he in his love of wealth.
