Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:137

قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

qad khalat min qablikum sunanun fa-sīrū fī l-arḍi fa-inẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukadhdhibīna

Many were the Ways of Life that have passed away before you: travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:26

يُرِيدُ ٱللَّـهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ سُنَنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

yurīdu allāhu li-yubayyina la-kum wa-yahdiyakum sunana lladhīna min qablikum wa-yatūba ʿalaykum wallāhu ʿalīmun ḥakīmun

Allah doth wish to make clear to you and to show you the ordinances of those before you; and (He doth wish to) turn to you (In Mercy): And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:45

وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَآ أَنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ بِٱلنَّفْسِ وَٱلْعَيْنَ بِٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱلْأَنفَ بِٱلْأَنفِ وَٱلْأُذُنَ بِٱلْأُذُنِ وَٱلسِّنَّ بِٱلسِّنِّ وَٱلْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُۥ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ

wa-katabnā ʿalayhim fīhā annā l-nafsa bil-nafsi wa-l-ʿayna bil-ʿayni wa-l-anfa bil-anfi wa-l-udhuna bil-udhuni wa-l-sinna bil-sinni wa-l-jurūḥa qiṣāṣun fa-man taṣaddaqa bihi fa-huwa kaffāratun lahu wa-man lam yaḥkum bimā anzala allāhu fa-ūlāʾika humu l-ẓālimūna

We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:38

قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَنتَهُوا۟ يُغْفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِن يَعُودُوا۟ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

qul li-lladhīna kafarū in yantahū yughfar lahum mā qad salafa wa-in yaʿūdū fa-qad maḍat sunnatu l-awwalīna

Say to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them).

Sura al-Ḥijr 15:13

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

lā yuʾminūna bihi wa-qad khalat sunnatu l-awwalīna

That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.

Sura al-Ḥijr 15:26

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ

wa-la-qad khalaqnā l-insāna min ṣalṣālin min ḥamāʾin masnūnin

We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;

Sura al-Ḥijr 15:28

وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ

wa-idh qalā rabbuka lil-malāʾikati innī khāliqun basharan min ṣalṣālin min ḥamāʾin masnūnin

Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape;

Sura al-Ḥijr 15:33

قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ

qalā lam akun li-asjuda li-basharin khalaqtahu min ṣalṣālin min ḥamāʾin masnūnin

(Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape."

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:77

سُنَّةَ مَن قَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَا وَلَا تَجِدُ لِسُنَّتِنَا تَحْوِيلًا

sunnata man qad arsalnā qablaka min rusulinā wa-lā tajidu li-sunnatinā taḥwīlan

(This was Our) way with the messengers We sent before thee: thou wilt find no change in Our ways.

Sura al-Kahf 18:55

وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ قُبُلًا

wa-mā manaʿa l-nāsa an yuʾminū idh jāʾahumu l-hudā wa-yastaghfirū rabbahum illā an taʾtiyahum sunnatu l-awwalīna aw yaʾtiyahumu l-ʿadhābu qubulan

And what is there to keep back men from believing, now that Guidance has come to them, nor from praying for forgiveness from their Lord, but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with them, or the Wrath be brought to them face to face?

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:38

مَّا كَانَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍ فِيمَا فَرَضَ ٱللَّـهُ لَهُۥ سُنَّةَ ٱللَّـهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّـهِ قَدَرًا مَّقْدُورًا

mā kāna ʿalā l-nabiyyi min ḥarajin fī-mā faraḍa allāhu lahu sunnata allāhi fī lladhīna khalaw min qablu wa-kāna amru allāhi qadaran maqdūran

There can be no difficulty to the Prophet in what Allah has indicated to him as a duty. It was the practice (approved) of Allah amongst those of old that have passed away. And the command of Allah is a decree determined.

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:62

سُنَّةَ ٱللَّـهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّـهِ تَبْدِيلًا

sunnata allāhi fī lladhīna khalaw min qablu wa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi tabdīlan

(Such was) the practice (approved) of Allah among those who lived aforetime: No change wilt thou find in the practice (approved) of Allah.

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:43

ٱسْتِكْبَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ ٱلسَّيِّئِ وَلَا يَحِيقُ ٱلْمَكْرُ ٱلسَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِۦ فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّـهِ تَبْدِيلًا وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّـهِ تَحْوِيلًا

istikbāran fī l-arḍi wa-makra l-sayyiʾi wa-lā yaḥīqu l-makru l-sayyiʾu illā biahlihi fa-hal yanẓurūna illā sunnata l-awwalīna fa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi tabdīlan wa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi taḥwīlan

On account of their arrogance in the land and their plotting of Evil, but the plotting of Evil will hem in only the authors thereof. Now are they but looking for the way the ancients were dealt with? But no change wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing): no turning off wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing).

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:85

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا سُنَّتَ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

falam yaku yanfaʿuhum īmānuhum lammā raʾaw baʾsanā sunnata allāhi allatī qad khalat fī ʿibādihi wa-khasira hunālika l-kāfirūna

But their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) Allah's Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of Allah perish (utterly)!

Sura al-Fatḥ 48:23

سُنَّةَ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّـهِ تَبْدِيلًا

sunnata allāhi allatī qad khalat min qablu wa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi tabdīlan

(Such has been) the practice (approved) of Allah already in the past: no change wilt thou find in the practice (approved) of Allah.
